Access Members Of A Sub Class Through A Property Of The Parent Class?
Mar 30, 2010This is a bit of a continuation from a previous post for which AtmaWeapon was very informative.
Problem:
A parent class has a sub class with various properties. A property of the parent class is a List(of T) with T = the sub class The issue is how to store data in the sub class of the instantiated parent

Use A Private Class And It's Members From Another Class?
May 18, 2009I usually use which is free, works a little too well, it's obfuscating the code that passes between my scripting class and the other classes, so after obfuscating the app, the scripting functions no longer work.However I found another obfuscator called Skater lite which is a free edition, it will only obfuscate private classes and members, so what I would like to do if possible is make most of my classes private and their members (except for the scripting class, which should allow it to work properly after being obfuscated), and somehow still use them globally, declaring an instance of the class doesn't seem to work, I'm not even sure it's possible and I know little about the scope of private classes, so anyone got any ideas or workarounds?

A use this type in many places in my code to check the value stored in a variable (if MyAction = tAction.Delete then ...)
In a separate file, I define a class. One of the properties should return a value of this type:
public class XXX
private _Action as tAction
public property ClassAction() as tAction

This way I could check a class property in the same manner (if MyClass.ClassAction = tAction.Insert then ...)
However I get a syntax error in the property definition: 'ClassAction' cannot expose type 'Globals.tAction' outside the project through class 'XXX'
My entire program consists in a few modules, in a single project. How can I use my tAction definition in my classes?

I however want to keep my enum elsewhere, not in the main gui element handling form. The closet thing I could guess was:

Importing An Enum Into A Visual Basic Class So That It Becomes Inheritable

But since MyEnum isn't defined in the subclass it won't work. I am not very familiar with what these types of things are called, but I think that I am import a type definition of sorts. Since I am Importing, and not defining, it is only available in the first file. Basically, I want to include MyEnum as part of the class but I don't how to do it. I don't want to copy/paste it over, and I don't really want to write Imports ... at the top of all of my subclasses.

VS 2010 Enum Class And Cyclic Correspondence Checking
Mar 13, 2011I wanted to make a collection of definitions public, for which the Enum class was a perfect candidate, but I also had the need to check variables against all the possibile enum members to see which one they were.
In this scenario my solution was to write a public enum class in which all the members were made available, and replicate the same listing in an array in order to iterate through.
In fact the only way I know to iterate through all memebers is a cycle (either "for each" or "while somecondition" and a moving index). But I guess there must be a simpler way to make use of an enum class.
.net - Access Shared Members In Partial Classes
Feb 16, 2011I'm writing a WCF-Service and I split up my service class to multiple partial class files, so every ServiceContract-Implementation gets its own file. I have one file however that should contain e.g. members that are used by every partial class file such as a logger. The service is hosted with IIS 7 if this matters in any way.

The code compiles fine, but at runtime I get an BC30451: The name m_Log is not declared Error (Don't know the exact words for it. I get a german message ;) ). I don't think it has something to do with the type of m_Log or a depending assembly because I get the same error if i try this with a String. What am I doing wrong? How can I make this work? Edit: I was trying the same thing in a simple console application without any problems. :(
Access Private Members From A Test Case?
Aug 1, 2011I'm using VS 2010 Professional built-in test cases. I've got a class that has a read-only property that looks something like this:

In my test cases I want to make a fake server implementation so I can test some of the class methods without actually hitting the server. I've looked around and have seen the InternalsVisibleTo attribute, but that seems to only allow access to Friend-level members. Is there any simple way to get access to these members, aside from declaring them Public/Friend?
VS 2008 Enum And Radio Boxes-passing Info To Business Class?
Jan 29, 2011I'm trying to pass data from the main form to a business class form for calculation.I have 3 types of cars and I can't get the code right to pass that to the business form. It seems correct to me, but obviously, it's not.This is the code for the calculate button, I can't figure out why its telling me that CarSize is not a member of the business form when I have it in the Enum statement at the top. I'm going by what the book says and this appears right according to it.

In the book it says to specify the class name when declaring the enum on the business form. So to me it looks like it should be -RentalRate.CarSize.Luxury The error I have is 'CarSize' is not a member of the 'ChristiansCarRentals.RentalRate'.

May 26, 2010Which is better, using a nullable enum or adding the value None=0 to your enum list?Using nullables requires more code, but I kind of like it since it forces me to think about the possibility. Otherwise I'm liable to forget about the None enum and fail to account for it being a special case.
