Accessing A Property In VB As Opposed To C#?

I am probably confused about what that C# is actually doing. I assumed it was trying to get the string out of the app.config (both

I/we (my class) created a usercontrol that included a picturebox and a timer. We declared the public variable to access the timer enabled property. Placing the user control onto a Form we are able to enable the timer. However, when we went to declare an array for the control we could not access the properties... We successfully declared control arrays using base class control...

I coded a very small website bot in C# using the default WebBrowser control. Actually almost everything is working the way it is supposed to work, yet I seem to have problems with the very last step of my automation.
The website was built using several iframes. This isn't much of a big deal as I simply access those frames and their elements using
webBrowser1.Document.Window.Frames[0].Document.GetElementById("element").InvokeMember("click");
This however does not work when the source of the IFRAME is being hosted on a different domain than the actual website. As I searched the internet for an answer to my problem I stumbled across an MSDN article mentioning this specific problem and they were referring to safety measures against cross site scripting which might be the reason for this error.
I couldn't really find a way of disabling this feature so I moved on and decided to recode everything to work with geckofx-12 instead of the default (IE based) web browser control, yet I ran into similar issues...
My question is: Is there any way I can bypass this annoying behaviour? I don't really care about security concerns or on whether geckofx or the default web browser control is being used, I would just like to programmatically access the elements of a site which is being hosted on a different domain without running into an UnauthorizedAccessException.

I have made a front-end application in Visual Basic .NET that will store data entered by the user in a backend Access 2003 Database. The application has other functionality as well.If the user searchs for a previous record that has been stored in the Access Database, I query the Database (SELECT ... ) using an OLEDB Connection and then display the records on a Datagrid on my Form. Everything is working fine, however, the Column Headings of the Datagrid are the Field Names in my Database (FirstName, LastName,...) rather than Caption Values (First Name, Last Name,... )
I tried looking up the net, but most of the topics addressing a similar problems use DAO, and I understand that it is not completely supported in VB .NET. I am fairly new to VB .NET and I am not quite sure how to address the problem or where I am going wrong. I tried using FirstName.Caption but that gives a Runtime error (One or more parameters missing from the Sentence)

I have an app with 24 different Forms. They have some security options based on which the 5 different buttons Submit, Approve, 2nd Approve, 3rd Approve, Reject etc get enabled disabled.Now I designed a MainForm that has all the buttons and the security code for them. I have created eachform as a usercontrol and load them dynamically based on which form the user wants. My loading works perfectly fine. I load the control and Add it to the place holder in the Page load event of the main page.
Now when the user selects the Submit button I want to call the Save method inside the usercontrol of the Form as each form will have a separate Save. So when I try this code snippet I get the Null reference error. Do let me know how to resolve it.
Private UCDynamic As UserControl
Then on Page Load event I use this code
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
If not Me.IsPostBack
UCDynamic = LoadControl("Controls/BkCode.ascx")
Me.PlaceHolderForm.Controls.Add(UCDynamic)
End if
Then on the ButtonClick Event for Submit I do this
Protected Sub Save_OnClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Save()
End Sub
[code]....
Thats where I get the cast Null reference error. So is it that after post back the control no longer exist on the page.

I include 2 exes in my setup project which share dlls. In 2008 this just resulted in warnings when building but I now get an error instead indicating that the file is already included.I can fix this by excluding them but they will reappear after each build so have to be excluded again which slows the process down - example error message is below:
Error 14 Two or more objects have the same target location ('[targetdir]interop.excel.dll') C:DevelopmentPIMSPIMSSetupPIMSSetup.vdproj PIMSSetup

I'm populating a custom dropdown list control on the fly that's tied to data grid using VB .NET 2008. The form will display all the manufactures when the edit button on the data grid is selected.
The dropdown I created works fine. However, when I try to populate the drop down with the respected manufacture values from the database, I only get a value of "System.Data.DataRowView" that being populated in the dropdown list as opposed to my values from the database.
Here's the basic code I use to first create and populate the drop down control:
<asp:DropDownList ID="Manufacturedd" Runat="server" DataSource='<%# m_ItrackerData.Tables("Misc_Manufacture") %>' SelectedIndex='<%# getSelectedManufacture(DataBinder.Eval(Container, "DataItem.Manufacture"))
%>'></asp:DropDownList>

Public Class clsLoadTables

Public Property ds() As DataSet

[CODE]........................
My problem is that I do not want to inherit this class, but I have other classes that need to access the ds DataSet property. If at all possible I would like to not use inheritance and not load my datatable more than once in the program.
Here is my failed attempt to access the property inside another class that is not inheriting clsLoadTables:

How I can access this dataset that I want to load only once in the program from many classes without using class inheritance or a global module?

I am sending an email with an attachment using the following Code
Dim msg As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(req.EmailFrom, req.EmailTo)
Dim att As New System.Net.Mail.Attachment("C:Documents and SettingsmichaelrDesktop1216259.pdf")
With msg
.Attachments.Add(att)

The file size of the attachment is 396KB, upon the recipient receiving the email outlook shows the file size as 543Kb. Strange thing is if I send an email with the same attachment using outlook the file size is 396Kb.I understand that file sizes can increase due to the attachment being base 64 encoded as opposed to just raw binary.What I am failing to see is why outlook send a file which is 396KB in size but in code when sending it, the same file is 543Kb.

I have some reports that I use with the MS ReportViewer and I need to get a count of the physical pages (as opposed to logical page count) to use with a print dialog. I've implemented a workaround so the ReportViewer control displays the correct number of physical pages, but is there a way to get that value from the ReportViewer control? The only publicly accessible property gives the logical page count.

I'm having some very weird issues with interfaces right now.
I have a very simple setup. In one of my class, I have a Property implementing a Property from an Interface.
In my class it's like:
Private _oForm As IForm
Public Property Form As IForm Implements IContainer.Form
Set(value As IForm)
[Code]...
I have like dozens of interfaces like this working throughout my project and I can't believe this simple one can't work!

Quite a few threads on passing data from one form to another, but I'm struggling to work out how to share data between the two - back and forth.
For example:
Class1 is a class with 10 string properties
Form1 has 10 labels ("Label1", "Label2" etc) and a [Configure] button.
Form2 has 10 textboxes and a [Apply] button.
I want to load with Form1, and create an instance of Class1. Click the Configure button and load Form2, passing Class1. On Form2 I want to manually fill in the 10 textboxes and hit Apply. The Apply should update the Class1 instance and close the form.
Form1's Label controls should then be updated with the data from the Class1 instance.
I'm fine creating the forms and classes, as well as passing the class into Form2 with a custom Sub New(EmptyClass as Class1) constructor. This gets the empty class into Form2, but how can I get the populated class back to Form1?
As Form1 already exists I don't want to create a new instance with another custom Sub New(PopulatedClass as Class1)
It's also key to be able to use the Form2 multiple times, basically ending up with a Data class being displayed as part of Form1 but updated using Form2? (For example if the Class has already been created and populated with data when it's passed back to Form2 for the second time I would pre-load the Textboxes with the values already in the class).

Basically in visual basic 6 I could access word tables in existing templates with the code owordactivedoc.tables(1).select() where owordactivedoc refers to the active word document and tables(1) refers to the first table in the template.Trying the same code in VB 2003 just leads to errors. Secondly how do I access bookmarks or alternatively word variables.Furthermore how do one deploy web.services. For example the current program I am building is for another computer. Simply copying the web service to Inetpubwwwroot dont work because it is not picked up by the Internet Information Services program. I have to create the web service in vb2003 on the other computer change msconfig manually. Copy and paste the existing service vb file in the created folder replacing the empty vb file.

Is there a way for implementers of an interface where a ReadOnly property is defined to make it a complete Read/Write Property ?
Imagine I define an interface to provide a ReadOnly Property (i.e., just a getter for a given value) :
Interface SomeInterface
'the interface only say that implementers must provide a value for reading
ReadOnly Property PublicProperty As String
End Interface
This means implementers must commit to providing a value. But I would like a given implementer to also allow setting that value. In my head, this would mean providing the Property's setter as part of the implementation, doing something like this :
Public Property PublicProperty As String Implements SomeInterface.PublicProperty
Get
Return _myProperty
[code]....

I searched on the forum / Internet for the solution how a PropetryInfo object (of a Public property) can reveal if it has a Private Protected Setter ... it was all in vain .... all help I found was about how to "Set" value of a public property having a Private Setter.I would like to know if I have a PropertyInfo object of a public property, how would I know if its Setter is Non Public?
I tried, in a exception handling block, where I did a GetValue of the PropertyInfo object and then called SetValue by setting the same value back... but to my surprise it worked well and didn error out.

I'm having a few problems converting some code into VB.NET from C#. Most of the translating is done, but I am getting errors when I try to run my code, and I can't figure out what is causing them. Here is the Sub I translated.

blue.Red = 0
blue.Green = 0

The error I receive on this line ("vision.Widgets.CreateWidget(wg1)") reads "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user."

I have a very simple class that holds a few public properties - ID, Text, Colour, etc. and a Boolean called 'SelectedItem'. Just like the Checked property on RadioButtons, only one item can have its SelectedItem property set to True within a particular group. Note: there will be several separate groups (lists), each allowed to have only one item with SelectedItem = True.
My first thought was that I would probably just have to handle everything outside of the class, setting SelectedItem to False for every other item in a particular list when another item was selected. But that seems rather inelegant to me. So I've been trying to think of how this might be done within the class. For example: could I perhaps have a private string property called say "GroupName" - set in the New sub when adding a new instance of the class - and then use a private shared method to set every item's SelectedItem property to False, provided the item has the same GroupName as the newly selected item? I would have a go at doing this but I have no idea how to enumerate every instance of a class from within that class, or whether that's even possible. Is it? Or is there another (better) way to achieve my goal? Here is a cut-down version of what I've got so far:
Public Class ResourceItem
Public ID As Integer
Public Text As String[code]....
As can be seen: instead of instantiating a new ResourceItem and passing that as an argument to the manager's Add procedure, I'm simply passing the details of the new item and the procedure is creating the item from those. I don't know whether this is a good or bad idea - please advise - but I've done it because I couldn't figure out how to make the SelectedItem property only writeable by the manager, so I wanted to avoid having directly accessible objects that could have their SelectedItem property set to True without it deselecting all the other items in the same group. Of course that still leaves the possibility of setting a variable to one of the manager's list items and setting it from there, so I would still like to know how I could prevent that, if possible.
UPDATE: I didn't use the code above in the end, deciding instead to go with Cyborgx37's solution - which seems to work perfectly well for me despite the warnings about best practice. I also realised I would need to use the same class in another scenario where multiple items could be selected, so it was easy to add a Boolean property to the manager to enable that.

I have a listbox binded to a list of objects. For each list item I wanted to have a rectangle whose fill color is determined by a few properties of the binded object. So I did the following:
Made sure INotifyPropertyChanged was implemented on my object.Created a class to expose the properties I am interested in as attached properties.Binded the properties of the object to the attached properties of the rectangle Created a style that uses triggers to set the rectangle fill based on attached properties.
This works, but only the first time the property of the object changes. After that, the attached properties do not seem to be receiving notification when the data object's property changes. I have double checked and my data object is raising the INotifyPropertyChanged event.
<Rectangle Style="{StaticResource RecordStateRectangleStyle}"
Width="10" Height="10" Stroke="Black"
local:RecordAttachment.RecordState="{Binding Path=RecordState}"
local:RecordAttachment.IsDeleted="{Binding Path=IsDeleted}" />

I have a weird question and I honestly hope you understand what is happening here: I design my form (using VB.NET) and put on it a few textboxes, comboboxes and a listview. After the design, I want to adjust the TabIndexes for each control on the form. On the right-hand side of the interface is the property box.
I then select the 'TabIndex' property item and enter a number key (for instance 0) for that selected item. I then select the next textbox control and enter the next number (for instance 1) WITHOUT re-selecting the 'TabIndex' property item. As soon as I select the combobox or listview control, the currently selected property item jumps to 'Items' or 'Collections' and does NOT remain on the 'TabIndex' property item. Why is this happening? Everything worked fine and all of a sudden this starts happening. Should I reset the editor settings or how can I resolve this matter?

I have a listbox with several list items added. I want that as user click on an item, I should be able to show its property. This should change for different items. For example (hypothetical) : Listbox has numbers 1 - 10. Now when I select 1 I should be able to set property - Name, Lastname, Colour, Age.
When I select 2 I should be able to set - Age, Hair Colour (clr shows), Weight, Date. When I select 3 then - City (combo box drop down), Country, Age only. This way value changes for diff items. One way is to put them in property grid and show them. Though this looks nice but adding/removing items in that is not easy. You need to have a class that refer that to prop grid. Do I have to code for each classes for all values in listbox or is there an easier way to manage items in property grid. If you think prop grid is not the right tool for such an activity then can you suggest something else.
