Add Table To Word, Error: Not A By Reference Property?
Nov 23, 2009
This is a portion of code. It creates a table of 6 rows with 3 columns on the word document. But I keep getting an error "Range is not a by reference property." However, the table is being added to the word document. I researched the error here & other sites, but not sure how to fix this. VB.Net is still pretty new to me.
clicking the reference in solution explorer gives me: This project cannot be viewed in the object browser because its unavailable or not yet built. Please ensure that the project is available and built.
I have a class that has a property that I declare like this:
VB.NET Private _DirectoryList As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo) ''' <summary> ''' Array of directories. ''' </summary> ''' <value>Object</value> ''' <returns>Directory array list</returns> ''' <remarks>N/A</remarks> Public Property Directory As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo) Get Return _DirectoryList End Get Set(ByVal value As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo)) _DirectoryList = value End Set End Property
I added a table to my Access database. I added that table to my dataset. Using Database Designer VB Studio, my table and tableadapter show up in the design view. The class definition is in the datasetdesigner.vb, and it shows in the object browser. But, I can't reference it in code. I am a newby and obviously missing somethning.
I am receiving this error: Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference on the code I've bolded within the code body. Here is my code:
I get this error:Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference.When i compile on the following code section:
Private Sub statusBarToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) ToolStripMenuItem.Checked = Not ToolStripMenuItem.Checked statusStrip1.Visible = ToolStripMenuItem.Checked
I am opening frmB (variable for FormB - the actual form) from frmA. From btn1 I open frmB like this:
frmB = New FormB() frmB.Show()
From btn2 (frmB is already open) I bring frmB to the front from behind frmA:
FormB.Show() FormB.BringToFront().
No problem so far. Now I need to pass an arg to frmB. This is where I am having the problem.
from btn1 (in frmA) I do this:
frmB = New FormB(myArg) '--pass myArg to constructor of FormB -- no problem here frmB.Show()
then from btn2 -- this is where I have the problem
FormB.Show() FormB.BringToFront()
I tried placing myArg in FormB.Show(myArg) but that did not fix the problem. What is the correct way to pass myArg to FormB (frmB) in this scenario? Do I need to share FormB or frmB? How do I do this? "frmB" is frmA level variable.
why i am getting an "reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference" error on format.Yesterday gets the previous days date and presents it in a yyyyMMdd format.vsettlementDates takes the "Yesterday value and requests data from it.
Dim Yesterday As String = format(Today.AddDays(-1), "yyyyMMdd") Dim vSettlementDates As String = (Yesterday)

I'm having a few problems converting some code into VB.NET from C#. Most of the translating is done, but I am getting errors when I try to run my code, and I can't figure out what is causing them. Here is the Sub I translated.
Public Sub CreateWidget() Dim blue As LCDColor blue.Red = 0 blue.Green = 0
[code]....
The error I receive on this line ("vision.Widgets.CreateWidget(wg1)") reads "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user."
start with I was given a program by a friend that was created in Excel 2003 with the help of Visual Basic Editor. He said he used Visual Basic 2003, which he is not 100% sure about. Anyways he used CurLine in the program and when I try to open it in Excel 2007 and then open the Visual Basic Editor and run the program I get the following error:Run-time error '-2147418113 (8000ffff)':Could not get the CurLine property. Unexpected call to method or property access.

In the above code i have created a reference to class B from class A. The reference variable "refB" created as a attribute. But i need to encapsulate this reference variable in a property also i need to ensure than instantiation reB = New B() is done even after the use of properties.
1. How do i encapsulate the class reference variable "refB" in property?2. If i hide this class variable "refB" in a property, how do i write the code code initilize "refB" in "A"'s constructor?
I am trying to make an app that interfaces with Salesforce. Now within salesforce you can customize your database to have any tables or fields that you want/need What I am trying to do is once I do my query, salesforce has your query results returned as a salesforce object. My app basically manages info in salesforce based on rules, sometimes people may need to customize those rules based on fields in the database, however because I dont know what kinds of fields are in their particular database I need to do it programatically...
SO what I want to do is reference the objects property via a string text property name... i.e. if they use a field called "IsFromLebanon" as a boolean I want to be able to access QueryResult.IsFromLebanon. but since I dont know if that field exists or not I dont know how to access its property without spelling out each time. I know clearly thats not going to work, but I dont know how to access the property name without KNOWING the property is going to be there, does that make sense? I dont know if I am making sense or not, it makes perfect sense in my head
When I got a fieldsinfo-array of a class I know all of it's fields. Now, how can I access all of the fields of an instance of the same class by using the fieldsinfo-array? [code]I'm sure there exists a possiblity to get the value of the instance, but how?

I'm trying to create a generic function to build a Linq expression from a list of Telerik grid filters. I'm trying to stay clear of dynamic Linq. Because I don't know the type that I'm building the expression for, I'm attempting to use reflection in the lambda functions to refer to a property, but after applying the fix suggested by @JaredPar I get the error, "The LINQ expression node type 'Invoke' is not supported in LINQ to Entities." Is there any way around this? here is my code:
Public Shared Function buildRadFilter(Of T)(ByVal filterExpression As List(Of GridFilterExpression)) As Expressions.Expression(Of Func(Of T, Boolean)) Dim returnPred = PredicateBuilder.True(Of T)()
