I'm creating an open-source web browser in VB.NET and I'm trying to load the browsing history from My.Settings.History (StringCollection) and list the items in a listbox, but only the first item appears.
Here is the code I am using:
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
I have been tasked with trying to build a small program to delete internet browsing history and cookies, My form consist's of just 3 buttons one to delete browsing history one to delete cookies and another button to do both. I have looked all over the internet and come across a few ways but none work any other ways to do this task?
i have a little company, where my employes work, wanted to know if they are not wasting time in my office, so i decided to make a little application to get history by all browsers, i tried and only could get from IE, but i need cross-browsers history at least minimum from Firefox + IE ?

I am currently working on a Web browser and I want to make a button to delete the browsing history. I found the file URLHIST.TLB but I cant Register it.
I'm creating a small tool for our team that performs backups of our servers. The plan is to put the tool in a central location so that anyone can use it.I'd like to store, somewhere, the date of the last backup for each server. I was wondering if I could use an application settings (with Application scope) for this? Is this bad practice? If so, what's the best practice? XML? text file? registry?
I am working on making a bookmarks and history interface for my web browser so basicall for the bookmarks the code is
CODE:
Now im assuming that this is not all that is needed.. (this is put inside a sub) however i dont know how to set up the settings so that it will keep the bookmarks into my list after the program closes...
How would I go about having my program monitor all open (or at least the current active) Internet Explorer windows and their current URLs? Basically, I want my program (running in system tray) to monitor the web page that is being viewed in an Internet Explorer window (NOT an integrated web browser control), and if it detects the loading of a specific URL address, execute whatever code.
What i want: i want to know where i can find a noob friendly detailed guide on how to add a history box/favourites box and an options windows. so the user browsing my webbrowser can check the history just like IE's or Firefox's. same with the favourites.. and with the options they can clear all their cookies and history, aswell as changing the homepage i know the fucntion to change the homepage via a menu strip so yehh..
my old vb6 program used to store to ini files now with .net I rekon I need to do something new.. was thinking XML but then in searching around I stumbled apon this my.settings stuff.. so I followed the instructions but something strange is going one..
1. whats the difference between the standard my.settings and adding a new class that is of settings ? anything ?
2. I made 10 new settings in the setting manager but when I try to change then it gives me the old squiggle line saying no go.
I am rewritting my application to conform to ms standards. We used to save all settings to registry for user settings, servername, size and locations.so we are now saving them into My.Settings app.config the only problem is that each time there is an update clickonce will isntall the newupdate but now all settings are loist and user has to save everything all over again..
I am trying to follow the book here but it seems i keep getting stuck somewhere. registry has worked fine for years but i understand we must move on, but if stuff like this happens then i just wasted a long time converting all code to conform for it to not work..
1. I can't find the file which reflects changes to user settings. This might be because I just can't find it (I can see a bunch of user.config files but they are all empty - weird!), or...
2. I'm not actually saving them when I think I am.
Regarding 2. - do I need to invoke
Is this all I need? And if so, why are my user.configs empty?
I'm making a combo box that displays the users history on the browser, but when they first open it and press the combo box theres supposed to be nothing there except for the homepage, but it instead has the homepage and (Collection) in it... help?
how to reset user settings in My.Settings to the default value, because when i checked if the user settings works i have altered the settings so now i want the settings to go back to default, because i am going to distribute the software.
I am attempting to create an application in an attempt so it could be run as the user and preserve individual settings, by this what i am trying to achieve is when the application is installed, it is installed once but each user has their own settings saved within their own profile - a bit like Office applications. How could i start with this?
I'm trying to save a collection of key/value settings in my application's "user settings" (they're column widths), but while I see no errors, when I run the code (in the IDE) my collection in "My.Settings" is always nothing at startup. I do a "My.Settings.Save" when the application exits, and barring the "serializers not found" errors in the IDE, no other errors occur. When I run my application as an exe, it behaves the same way..
I have some questions on AppSettings. I can add a setting at design time from the settings tab of the My Project. I would like to add to the settings at run time. I have not found a way to do this. I would in VB6 use an ini file but would like to start using xml.
The .net makes this folder for the settings C:UsersRyanAppDataLocalTestAppSettingsAppSettings.vshost.exe_Url _0ay3fimqt4k0pp1s2e4vb3pi3iymxzx2 . How do I retrieve the location to add to the xml file?
I am trying to create a program that allows the user to add a series of items to 4 different user collection settings.here's what i have Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
[Code]...
I keep getting an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." exception. What am I doing wrong?
Not too familar with the propertygrid control. But I have two comboboxes that need to be added to it from my.settings. How do i setup both My.Settings and then link it into the propertygrid?
The dropdowns will be named "Location" with 5 values, and the second called Hourly/Salary with 2 values.
This would be part of my larger application where the user selects these values and then logs in.
Well basicly I have been trying trial and error, and im sure this is a very simple fix, but how would I populate a ComboBox with information from My.Settings using VB.Net.
I am trying to be able to add everything within a listbox to a program setting that can be re loaded when its opened up again, I have the part to load them upon opening, but I don't know how to make it add all the items within the listbox to the setting, so it has something to load.
This is to load them on startup: For Each item As String In My.Settings.logs log.Items.Add(item.ToString) Next
I have an application that uses user settings and I have a button that gets a value (long) and writes this in a textbox I then have a setting called StoredKey with the data type of long I then pass this to the setting like this:my.settings.StoredKey=cLng(textbox1.text)this all works well in debug, but when I deploy my application and try to store the value in my.settings.StoredKey the value never gets written in!by deploy I mean packaging the exe in a setup and deployment project type and performing the wizard install to c:program files.[code]
So, I've created a form that allows for the user to save his or her settings after closing it. When using Visual Basics to run the program, there is no problem and it works wonders. Here is the problem. When I run the program not in Visual Basics, when I go to open the form, it fails. At first, it was because I didn't update the configuration file to include the new settings. Which was dumb, of course, but I updated the file and made sure to put it with the program.
I have a NumericUpDown Control on a form. In the Application Settings / Properties Binding, for the value parameter, i can't select my USER setting called : Heures (Integer / User).
[Code]...
But it's not saved. No problem for other settings (String / User). But i don't understand why the settings (Integer / User) are not saved.
I have a Boolean, user scoped setting. I access it through a referenced class library, called Settings. This class library has a Module with properties:
[Code]...
While the code is running this works. But after a restart of the application the new value is not persisted.
