I can add dll file in global assembly through making a complete setup but know i want to add dll in to global assembly through code dose any one knows how it can be done.
Scenario:A widget developer codes using HTML and javascript.my vb.net application allows developers to create widgets for other users.in javascript you can call window.external to comunicate with the host windows scripting object and I would like to add a helper namespace with many functions to aid the development of widgets similar to windows sidebar's System namespace.
Problem:So I could allow developers to use Window.External.System but how can I just allow them to access System directly without using Window.External?Microsoft adds a System Namespace to windows sidebar gadgets host window which is just an internet explorer server window.
m using a public variable called globalquery & a global function retriveToDataGrid() it works perfectly fine under same class /form ..... but when i try to access it from a different form , it gives no error and nothing happens
Public Sub retriveDataToDataGrid() Try Dim connStr As String = "Database=shahopticals;" & _ "Data Source=localhost;" & _
I want to create a global function to use throughout my application. Let say it's about the connection to the database. My code that i plan to use in my global function is:
myConnection = New SqlConnection("...........") myConnection.Open()
So that I can call it to use in every form throughout my application. This can make me easy to edit the connection later.how to define this global function and how to call this function in the form.
Can't seem to figure out how to use a function return variable in global Dims[code]...
I have also tried adding "FixPath()" under Sub On_load() but got same result. Also the reason I have to have these global is because I have around 30 Subs that refer to "Path" Variable.
I want to create a new instance of a class when I click on a button, but I need to interact with members of that class using other controls on the form, so I need the class to have a global scope. I know I could call the new class in formload, but the class creates certain variables that need to be current. If it is done on formload, the variables wouldn't be current, because if the class is created at formload, it would have different info at that time. Surely, there must be a way to create an instance of the myClass from within a sub that is accessible from other subs of the same class.
I am working on a solution that does not name namespaces in code files. Instead it uses the root name space of the project (which is the same across all assemblies). Basically there is only one implicit namespace.
Well, I am trying to isolate some code so that I can run FxCop against it. I explicated named the code file with a namespace to do this. This works for FxCop, but it bricks the entire solution.Visual Studio is now asking me to prefix all uses of the implicit namespace with Global. So instead of:
I need to execute a stored function in oracle or sql through vb.net. I created a command object. Depending on the database type(oracle or SQL) i am preparing the Command text as Select functionName(?,?,?,?,?,?,?,?) from dual; (For Oracle) Adding the parameter values of the function. Now performing the ExecuteScalar which is not working saying invalid parameter. This works with ODBC connection string. But ODBC doesn't with 64bit. My Requirement: Code should execute a user defined stored procedure by taking the values at runtime.
I have some existing code that looks something like this:
[tag:cb cbid="12345" cbwidth="200" cbclassname="calloutbox" cbposition="left"] Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. [tag:cb cbid="123" cbwidth="200" cbclass="calloutbox2" cbposition="left"] Suspendisse eleifend enim a magna pretium porttitor.
I need to write a VB .Net global function that will match these [tag:cb] and take the optional parameters and rewrite the string with Html tags.
<div id="12345" width="200" class="calloutbox" position="left">content (based on id)</div>
evrytime i add new controls to a form in vb.net the designer regenerates code and asks me to make corrections, so i have to keep on changing the object declarations to global using the 'global' keyword evertime it regenarates code, especialy dataset objects.how can i prevent this?
i could use Global x as string in vb6 in a module to declare it with global privelages, how can i do this in vb2008? how to declare a global variable in vb2008? so that i could use it anywhere i want. i know global variables are not recommended in programming but i need one.
I am writing a chat program and im adding a transfer file function but Ive hit i bit of a snag..The way my program knows its a file coming and not a regular text message is i added a 3-6 bytes prefix depending on what is being sent.
[Code]...
Ive tried the copyto method but since my file byte array is empty it throws an exception. If i wasn't clear with something let me know and i will try to explain better.
In the software I am developing for my A-level computing coursework I want to add a function to export the database (to backup, use in other computers, etc) and later on a function to import databases (that I had previously exported using this function). At the moment I have a SaveFileDialog, and I have filtered .mdb files only (as this is the type of files supported by my application). But How do I select what is going to be saved? (How do I point to the .mdb file that is located in the program's directory?)
In using the IDisposable Interface, the two subroutines are displayed in my code from Microsoft when coded. How do I do the same with an Interface that I write? Is it possible or is this a feature that only Microsoft can do? I am using Visual Studio 2005!
I'm fairly new to learning visual basic. I'm trying to create a program that dynamically generates a EXE file that performs mouse movements and keystrokes. To dynamically generate EXE files, I am using the CODEDOM API for Visual Basic.
I have an XML file and I have a function to which this XML is passed as string. I have loaded this string in Xmldocument and I need to insert few children nodes under one node. This function returns the modified XML string. I want that whenever this function is called, new child nodes are added, currently, It adds child nodes once.Do I need to overwrite the XML file ? If so, How can I replace the node with new node ( with new child nodes added) so that It has child nodes added before the function is called again ?
My code looks something like this:
Dim doc As New XmlDocument doc.LoadXml(applicationXml) Dim parentNode As XmlNode = doc.GetElementsByTagName("prList").Item(0)
I have a function that converts a .csv file to a datatable. One of the columns I am converting is is a field of names that have a comma in them i.e. "Doe, John" when converting the function treats this as 2 seperate fields because of the comma. I need the datatable to hold this as one field Doe, John in the datatable.
Function CSV2DataTable(ByVal filename As String, ByVal sepChar As String) As DataTable Dim reader As System.IO.StreamReader Dim table As New DataTable Dim colAdded As Boolean = False
i have search for tutorials but none seems to work for me.This is my app code Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
[Code]...
As you see, "button2" renames files to backup, and "button3" renames them back to original name. How can i make dir (C:Program FilesRockstar GamesGTA San Andreas) a variable? And maybe when app starts it lets user to select their program path (browse function) then it will but their selected path to variable, and i can use this variable in my code as path?
In the exam paper, student have to check the checkboxes [usercontrol does not work] whether the question is correct or wrong. Now as I have hundreds of questions, I cannot write the same code again and again with the IF conditions, is there anyway to make it a function or something then call it whenever is needed. As well as I wanted the marks to be added when a student submits the paper.
I am looping through all folders on the computer in a background worker. Starting with just the C: drive, the function works perfectly I've been tasked with adding recursiveness to this function to loop through all subfolders within each and every folder.
This is the working code without recursive. Startpath is set = "c:".
Private Sub BackgroundWorker1_DoWork(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.DoWorkEventArgs) Handles BackgroundWorker1.DoWork Dim fs As New FileSystemObject Dim fsfolder As Folder Dim subfolder As Folder
[Code]...
EDIT: I was doing some testing and threw in an if check to skip the C:$ folders. Working ok so far and noticed something really strange. It doesn't loop through all the folders in the C: drive. I think it will loop through only the first 2 folders. One is C:Boot so I skip that and the other is C:Dev-cpp. It won't loop through the Program Files, Program Files (x86), or Users.
I am pulling information out of my Access Database and reading to a webpage. I need to add a update, delete, and email function to this page. I am trying to do this with the selection of a check box and buttons for each one. But I am unable to get the delete to do anything but redirect back to the orignal page. For the update I want to be able to pull the info in text boxes and just change the info and click update and it gets changed. I also want to be able to pull their email from the database and put it into a text box to be able to email right from the page. Code for show page and delete page below.
I want to make an numerical integration method with takes in an analytic function and integrate it over a specific interval. For the numerical integration procedure I want to use some procedures in nr.com. The problem is that these are programmed in C++ and they uses functors to pass a function to the integration method. How can I do this in VB 2010?
I want to initialize the function (i.e. set a=1,b=0 for function y(x)=a*x+b) and then pass the function to the integration method. Then when the integration method call the function it only calls the function with one parameter (i.e. x since a,b is already set)
What is the best way to do this in VB2010?I want to make a general integration method where I can pass any single valued function and integration limits.
I have just started using VB, and from what I have found so far it seems like the tools you have is
- to us a delegate for the function - to use a lambda expression for the function - send a pointer/adressOf - to create a function class/structure and submit this to the function
As for now I am most inclined to create a function-class. But I am not really sure how.F.ex. I make different classes for each "uniqe function" I want to integrate, but how can I pass them to the integration function when I need to specify the argument type in the integration-function-call?This seems like a basic problem which applies to many Math operations, so I think it would be very useful to clarify this.
I'm trying to undersatnd the syntax of calling a funciton and it seem confusing when I'm using a web service in ASP.net. Maybe this question should be in an ASP forum, but it is a VB question. This simple web service allows you to type in your name and it response with an alert box with you name.
My question is, How can you call a function with 2 arguments when the function is only defined for one. I understand that the second argument is actually a method that handling the respons, but how can you interchange function arguments for methods and how do you know that there are methods for
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call. The DLL function call signature is like this:
I am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?
i wanted to ask how to make picturebox1 ,to which functions are already assigned, perform the same function as picturebox2 ,to which no functions are assigned. For example:I have already made picturebox1 and have assigned it alot of function like when play button is pressed then picturebox1.visible = true and when we press pause button picturebox1.visible = false. So now i decided to make a theme and have to remove the picturebox1 and want to allow the picturebox2 to havefunction of picturebox1.But when i disable the theme the function of picturebox1 should go back to picturebox1.
