Adding And Deleting Database Records With Access 2007
Apr 27, 2011
I have a form with textbox controls that are bound to the database. I have a bindingnavigator within the form, when i use the save & delete buttons on the bindingnavigator toolbar they seem to work but when i check my db nothing has changed. I have tried to work around this problem by updating the saveitem code using the code below.[code]
I am not able to add records in an Access 2007 database using VB 2010 Express Edition. I have read other posts and followed them but still I am not sucessful. I have the connection to the access database as MS Access Database, therefore it has the OLEDB connection (not the Jet 4.0). I am using the project instance in binding the text boxes to the fieldnames in the Access database. Did I miss something? I am also using Windows Vista Ultimate.
I have records in my datagridview (from database(ms sql server 2008 r2)). What i want to do is to insert the records selected by my datagridview checkboxcolumn and IF POSSIBLE automatically delete a record if the records to be inserted are equal to the records inside the database. (Hoping you got what I want to say.) For example. I have an A,B,C(child) that is under XXX(parent) in my database and I'll be inserting the A,B(child) again but it will be under YYY(parent). The old record in XXX will be deleted except C. I just want a possible DELETE STATEMENT These are what I've done so Far :
Insertion of record to database Try connectionString = "Data Source=***;" sql_connection = New SqlConnection(connectionString)
How do I insert, update, and delete records in vb.net 2008 from a Access 2007 database?Really, I figured out how to add records - but I cannot delete or update records. Any pointers, website tutorials, etc? Also, I am binding the database table to Listbox which is working, but I need to update the listbox with deletion and update changes too...
I used the wizard to create a datagridview and then binded a grid to an access table.Data show up fine..But I can't dete records via the bindingnavigator.Hit the delete button then hit the save button ?Data does not get updated in the backend database. My properties are set to true for adding and deleting.
I have been trying for a month to get a row added to an Access database and can not do it. I have the databindings all set and can select different records, but can not add a new one. I have tried BindingSource.AddNew.row() but can't figure out how to add data to the new row, nor does it show in the database.
I have tried
Dim ds As New myDataSet '<---Change this to the dataset name on your form Dim dr As DataRow dr = ds.Tables("Students").NewRow
[Code].....
But that doesn't do anything at all. No data added, no errors. I have tried updating a datagrid to be told it can't be updated when bound. I look on google and nothing seems to relate to adding data to an access database when bound to the project through the datasource wizard.
I am using OLEDBConnection and OLEDBDataAdapter and connected to the MS-Access databasehow can i add the textbox value to the table in database on a button click and want to display it in datagridview??
The apostrophe is used to separate data when adding records to an Access Database data table using the "INSERT INTO" SQL statement. Having apostrophes in the data really screws things up with this new software. Is there a simple workaround? Is it possible to specify a different character? Is it possible to add data without using SQL Statements? I also noticed that the new OleDbDataAdapter Add Method generates the same SQL Error because it apparently creates an "INSERT INTO" SQL Statement.gh
I read the other threads but i didn`t understood and none of the codes worked.I`m using VB 2005 and SQL Server 2005. I have 1 form with a DataGridView bounded to the table Produse and 3 texboxes and 1 Save button.
In the save button i`ve putted the code :
Using con As New SqlConnection("Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=H:ProjectsWindowsApplication1WindowsApplication1Database1.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True") Try
[Code]...
The code works fine , it saves the data i`ve enterd in the textboxes , but in order to view the changes in the table i need to restart my application to see the changes.
I am making a program that takes Access records and moves them into MySQL then checks to be sure everything is right and deletes the moved records. But, for some reason my delete command isnt working....
Here is the
Dim deleteCommandF As New OleDbCommand Dim deleteCommandE As New OleDbCommand Dim deleteCommandO As New OleDbCommand
[code]....
Running the program now to get the exact error message, shouldnt be more than 5 minutes and I'll post it.It says my paremeters are wrong? deleteCommandE.ExecuteNonQuery()
I have an application that has an Ms Access 2007 DataBase which runns great if access is installed. Is there any code that I can use in vb that I would be able to run access with out installing it.
I'm having trouble to add Data to a Ms Access 2007 from a Text Box. This is the coed I'm using at the present time.
Private Sub btnNext_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnNext.Click If (IsNumeric(txtOrderEntry.Text)) Then DesignForm.Show() ElseIf txtOrderEntry.Text = "" Then
I have created a form wherein there is a text box , and a button, the text box is binded to a access database table and field , i want to add the data of text box to the field using the button.
i don't want to use conventional binding navigator
I will start off here by asking the question. How do I make the data from a database be bound to my project? I keep trying to add a new data source so that I can drag and drop things to my form, but I am unable to. I follow the steps, choosing an OLE DB, the file's location (D:Data Connected Applicationsfile name) The conecting string looks like: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="D:Data Connected ApplicationsItem_Database_A.accdb". I choose the objects that I want (In this case, the entire tables option) and then it returns a message to me stating that: An error occurred while creating the new data source: Could not get information for 'WindowsApplication1.Item_Database_A.accdbDataSet3'
My project involves making a table database that displays student number, surname, first name, homeroom, and grade avg. Through SQL commands, there must be functions to add, update, delete, search by field, and save records to the database.I have already set the database up just fine and displayed it in a DataGridView. Through the DataGridView, I was able to go to the "Add Query" area, and I successfully made the queries necessary for searching by field. However, when I try to do anything other than a search using the query builder (ie start my SQL command with INSERT INTO or DELETE FROM), I ultimately get the message "Failed to get schema for this query"For example, this SQL code (to add an entry to the database) worked when I was in the Query Builder (and the entry that it made is still in the database), but when I finally tried to confirm it, I got the "Failed to get schema for this query" message.Being unable to add entries to the database this way, I tried to do it with textboxes on a form. Each textbox will have one of the fields, and at the click of a button, they would be put into the table. My code is below. I do not know what is wrong withit. When I run it, my fields do not appear on the DataGridView immediately, but I must run the program again to see it. The time after, the entry is gone. So I am not sure how exactly such entries are to be saved.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Try
I need help with adding a record to a database.I have a database with multiple tables. How do I add a new record to one of the tables without using the BindingNavigator.Lets say the table's name is tblDetails and the fields are:NameSurnameCellAddressI have a number of text boxes on my form:txtNametxtSurnametxtCelltxtAddressI want to add the details from the text files to the table and a new record.
when i had 3 text box then i did the following code and it worked for me also:
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim con As OleDbConnection
[code]....
in the above code ,depending on the textbox3.text,i performed all the deletion,so it was easy now i have got a three of combo box and three text box....... i filled the combo box with the database entries.....now i want to perform deletion depending upon the selected items of any one of the three combo box........i cant get the logic of the where portion in the delete syntax.....
I have the following code which I hoped added a row to my DataGridView and also a record to my database. It does the first part, but not the second. Dim row As DataRow = Me.CCLogDataSet.tblLog.NewRow() row("cc_log_contract") = Me.txt_Log_Add_Contract.Text row("cc_log_registration") = Me.mtb_Log_Add_Registration.Text.ToUpper() row("cc_log_milage") = Me.txt_Log_Add_Milage.Text [Code] ..... It seems to be storing the data in memory? As the data in the DataGridView is persistant, even after a Relaunch of the application. However, why I query the database, there are no records in it.
I'm trying to add a record through access. Below is my code. My problem is that when I add a new record, it adds to the database fine, and goes back to the first record like it should, but when I then scroll through using the BtnNext (button), it replaces the last record with the first record for some reason. This is the UI of it [URL]. A bit of further explanation, I'll have 3 records, IDs 1,2,3 respectively. I go to add another (with its ID as 4). When it's added, the program displays ID 1 as it should. It then goes 2 then 3, but instead of 4 as the next one, it displays 1 again. So 1231.
Here's the Public Class ViewStudent Dim con As New OleDb.OleDbConnection Dim dbProvider As String Dim dbSource As String Dim ds As New DataSet [Code] .....
I am developing an application in vb and access my sql query in access please have a look.
str = "insert into details values('" & username & "','" & CDate(date1) & "','" & time & "','" & PrinterName & "','" & noofpages & "','" & _ Message.ToString & "') WHERE not exists (select * from details where Date1 = " & CDate(date1) & " And Time = '" & time & "')"
I was trying to check the database before adding the records For some reason its not working Query input must contain at least one table or query Is exists allowed in access or is there any other keywords in access?
I am working on creating a program that records animal data (wombats) and stores it into a database, using vb.net. I am trying to add new records into a database but every time I click add, to execute that, there are duplicate records that gets added. How do i write the code so itonly adds it one time. I am using a data reader. Here is the
what happens is i have a weekly salary table and once a week an administrator computes the salaries and it will be saved there, i want the delete code to delete the already saved record with the same Emp_ID as what i'm trying to save. my problem is i don't think the code i put deletes the record because it will still tell me that there is already an Emp_ID the same with what i'm trying to save..
so far this is my code..
Dim cnn As New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source = C:UsersFlorieDocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsPayroll SystemPayroll Systemobjx86DebugPayroll_MaryRoseAn.accdb") Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand
I am using VB 2008, then I noticed that with the Provider.Oledb.12.ACE = database.accdb whatever connection string uses the bin/debug/database.accdb file when I connect my program with a database. Suddenly, a database with the same name appeared on the lets say "WindowsApplication1" folder. Then whenever I try to debug/run, it throws an error saying that it was unable to copy the database from the "WindowsApplication1" folder to the debug folder even though VB 2008 reads through the database from the bin/debug folder. As a result, after I input values when I debug, it resets because VB 2008 copies the database from the "WindowsApplication1" folder.
I am trying to update a element from login table but it not showing any error massageor any thing execution is error free but finally whenever i check the database its notupdated.. i'm using access2007 database with vb 2008
Im new to VB.net. Currently im using visual studio 2008 to make a member registration form and i need to save all data into my access database 2007.
Public Class register Dim datatb As New DataTable Dim constr As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=|DataDirectory|\KDE.accdb" Dim sqlstr As String = "SELECT * FROM"
I'm trying to connect to a access 2007 database with VB 9 and am having some problems.
I went to Data and then selected add new datasource.
Then I clicked on database and selected Next.
I click on new connection, change the datasource to access database file and then click ok.
It doesn't give me a browser box so I can choose where my access database file is. All it shows me is a connection string label and a text box to the right of it. I tried entering the full path to my accdb file in that connection string box and also just the name of the file itself since it's in the same directory but get the error message "format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0."
Also, when I click on test connection, it always says succeeded even though no database has been selected.
