Jun 23, 2011I am writing an app to be a single button failover of a set of mirrored SQL servers. The app has to handle several other functions (enable/disable and start/stop of services, writing to local registry, copying files from server A to server B, initiating stored procedures, etc.)I have a collection of labels that indicate the status of 4 services on 2 servers, I wrote a function to check the services when passed the machine name, and the service name. Originally I just called the function 8 times (4 services, 2 machines) and populated the labels 'manually'. I have all of this within a timer so that the service status is refreshed every couple seconds. Id like to clean up the code to a single for/next loop that operates on 2 arrays (an array of service names, and an array of labels) such as:
'**Fetch_Status is the function that gets service status, it accepts 2 strings, machine name
'**and service name and returns status "running", "Stopped", as my_status
Dim Services() As String = {"Service1", "Service2", "Service3", etc.}

The only reason I want the control array is to be able to use the .Text and .BackColor properties of the labels in the loop. If I make an array of strings with the label names it doesnt seem to pick that up.

Apr 30, 2012I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.
I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

Save Labels Text That Is Inside Of A Tabcontrol?
Jan 16, 2011In the program that i'm working now a button create's a new tab witch contains 5 labels and 2 buttons.Of these 5 labels 3 have fixed text but 2 of them have variable text witch i need to save and reload at startup each time(until tab is deleted)
i figured out how to save tab's and make them reload at startup and suceded on saving the 2 labels text in a specialized stringcollection but on startup it only load's the last memorized string in the selected tab , the other tabs label's are blank.
how to load the other labes text?
Moving Labels Inside A Groupbox Using Vertical Scrollbar?
Jun 9, 2011I have a load of information on my label in a groupbox on the form there is too much information to be seen in one go so i want to use a vertical scrollbar to move the label up and down inside the groupbox so it can be read.
The issue i'm having is:
1: The label covers the bottom edge of the groupbox (looks a little naff) i need it to fall inside the groupbox if possible.
2: Any movement on the vertical scrollbar seems to send the label in one direction only - so how do i work it so that up moves it up and down moves it down?
Should i use a multiline textbox rather than a label and move the carat?
User Control - Adding Internal Labels Inside It
Mar 8, 2010I've made a user control and have added some internal labels inside it. In the User control class I'm trying to handle the mouse events so that: When the mouse enters the User-Control the background of the User-Control turns white - using MouseEnter event. When the mouse leaves the User-Control the background of the User-Control turns grey - using MouseLeave event. However as soon as I move the mouse over the internal labels it triggers the MouseLeave event. I don't want it to do that, because the mouse hasn't left the bounds of the User-Control! So, how do I get it to not trigger the MouseLeave event when the mouse is still internal to the User-Control?

Mar 21, 2010I'm trying to have a for each loop in which 5 labels should be created.Each time the loop restarts the 5 labels should appear in a tabpage.The problem is, it only makes a label once, then it keeps on mving the label to a different tab instead of creating a new one for each tab.
It loops 5 times, thus filling 5 labels.Then the next 5 labels should get filled in a new tab.But it just moves the original labels. How do I force it to create a new label each time?

Loop Through Labels In CheckBoxes
Jun 9, 2011I have a form that uses 28 checkboxes (checkBox1 ~ checkBox28), 28 labels (label1 ~ label28), and 28 textboxes (textBox1 ~ textBox28). These items need to be visible/invisible depending on the mode of the program (there are 5 modes). I could specify each item individually with visibility, but that requires a whole lotta code! Is there a way I can loop through 28 labels?

Mar 29, 2011I have attached the form in initial state. What you don't see in the initial state is 10 hidden labels. I want the loop(which I am calling as a function??) to compute the numbers and display in the labels. Example, if I input 1 for the first term, 3 for the second term and 4 for the total terms, the first 4 labels should become visible and have in them one solution each:

Mar 28, 2012I'm foolin round with stream reader/writer and I'm running into this problem: If I have my if/then statement inside my loop I get a million msgboxes(which I understand why), however if I put it outside my loop, and the if/then returns a false then the whole program freezes up. Mar 30, 2010Using VB.NET .NetFramwork 3.5. This fails and strikes me as odd. Is this correct behavior:

Assert.AreEqual(0, z)
z = index

I would expect z to always equal 0 as I thought the dim-ing of an integer would set the value to 0. If you run this. It fails at the second loop. For some reason z retains it's value of 1. I know I can manually initialize z to = 0, but I wanted to know if this is a bug or expected behavior.
