Append An Element To A List?

I am new to Vb.net so I will need some handholding. I have been searching everywhere but can't find what I need.I'm creating an app that has two forms.Each form has two comboboxes.The comboboxes are populated via a list and the list is populated by reading a text file for each combobox.The second form is called from the main form to modify the entries in the comboboxes. When I select the displaymember in the combobox a value corresponding to that entry is displayed in the text box.Now here is what I need.
I need to be able to append new values to the list so when focus is returned to the main form the new value is present. I'm using a combobox and a textbox on the second form as the import.The combobox is used to either select a present value to be able to modify the value in the textbox, or is used to add a new list element.

How would i read a set of names out of a file and then append them to a list box?I am not guaranteed a pair will be on the same line, and not guaranteed that a line would contain a maximum of one pair(i.e., it might have three pairs or it might have one and a half pairs - a first name, last name, and another first name whose matching last name would be on the next line). A line may also be blank.All of this needs to be in a visual basic format.

I'm having some problem here. I have a list of files to read and have to append them all to one unique file. the problem is that when i open the first file to read. I read the first line and discard it. when i read the second line, its empty ! but it is not in the original file. what im doing wrong ?

Now I find myself needing to do both Foo() and Bar() if value is "7" - is there a simple way to do this with an If condition?

I don't want to have to declare & initialize two lists if I can avoid it. Edit: I should have mentioned that this is a simplified example - there are actually a dozen or so CASE statements, and Foo() and Bar() are actually placeholders for quite a bit more code - it's seeing the same block of code repeated over and over that got me thinking about a better way to do it.

I am working with LINQ to XML in VB (although answers in C# are great, too). First off- my code works, so this is not critical. However, I can't help but think that what I'm doing with conditional logic should already be doable using the LINQ query itself. Here's what I've got:
'Get the Description elements in the ResultData section where the value is "Op Code"
Dim opCodes As List(Of XElement) = (From c In xdoc.Descendants("ResultData").Descendants("Description")
Where c.Value = "Op Code"[code].....
Please don't be too critical of my method of locating the sibling nodes- the XML files are produced by a third-party testing device and this is the only generic way to get the values I need. What I'm really looking for here is a better way to handle the If block.

unordered text file of 3 columns to assign into 2 arrays. I've been given a graphing component which expects a two dimensional array for a scatter graph for the set of values in the last column.
How would I parse through the list given an indexed array of 215 possible 'zone alarm locations' and if an alarm log list item, of which there can more than one for any given zone location, compare in the two dimensional array any previous value and replace it with the higher valued one? The following are my declarations for the 2 arrays. It isn't clear to me why the array for the scatter data was defined as (999,1) knowing there are only 215 possible x values (alarm zone locations)

I am working on a realtime application where the data is addded to a List(of T) all the time. MB per minute
Elements older than X minutes shall be removed from the beginning of the list to free memory.
As far as i can understand will there be an internal (slow) redim when i add each element after i have reach the number defined with the Capasity metod. (I set that quite big from the start, but the data speed is unpredictable so it can be exceed)
What happens each time i remove and element from the beginning of the list , seems like it takes a lot of time, ? new redim ?
What is the most CPU fficient way of removing 1 or many elements from the beginning of such a list?

I have a number of rewrite rules for a lot of things that I did in IIS7, like removing trailing slashes, canonnical URLs, lowercase lettering, and such. IIS altered my web.config, and everything works fine on the website, like it should. But in the Visual Studio web.config, the opening < rewrite > statement is underlined in blue, and at the bottom of VS, it says that the element 'system.webServer' has invalid child element 'rewrite'. But this is how IIS made it. I didn't do this manually. Should I be concerned with this VS error, or should I just leave as be, since it's working how it should work? I have been doing well and also I am a noob I know it and you know it a lot has started making sense and I am evening figuring new things out without using Google but of course I have hit another snag in my program so here goes
I am waiting for an email to arrive (the page automatically refreshes) and then I want to click the link (I do not need to click to open the email or anything like that) I also have the code to click and navigate to the address reason being it was the only way I could figure out how to stop it opening in a new window on IE
So my only problem is I need a way to check every x seconds for the element and then if its there proceed with my code and if its not wait and then check again or however this is done in VB.If this is not the way its done please point me in the right direction the code I am using to find and then navigate to the link is

I want to be able to reference an element in an array of structures by the name of the element in a visual basic 2010 function. For example

Is it possible to reference a structures element by the element's name in a similar way to that shown above. The code shown above does not work, as the expression obj(i).[elementName] does not work as hoped.

from the documentation we have this: Multicast Delegate: Represents a multicast delegate; that is, a delegate that can have more than one element in its invocation list.
so am i right to say that Multicast delegate is no different from a normal delegate other than the fact that it has arguments. so System.Action is a 'normal' delegate whereas System.Action(T)(Byval obj as T) is a multicast delegate?

Is it possible to append to a vb.net statement? Reason is I need to read data from a table in database A and update it to the same table in Database B. I have to do this multiple times and each time the database's might have a different amount of columns.

When started my app connects to Access 07 DB and checks if Table has more than 1000 records.If so,it exports them to a CSV file and deletes them from the table.After some time,Table will again reach 1000+ record,and I will again need to export them.But,I do not want to create a new CSV file,but rather append to existing one.

As far as I can tell, if i want to append data to a RTF from a RTB, the only way is to load the RTF into a RTB, add the next text to the RTB, and then SaveFile the RTB which overwrites the original RTF.
