i have the following code which appends a text base file knowen as a .pgp file; all works fine except that everytime i launch this app i append the text in one continual line i need the text to appned to a new line eveytime it is used.Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
I am trying to use and display calculations from various text fields, however it is appending the values. I think it has to do with it being a String Variable and not a Value.. here is the code
Private Sub btnTransact_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnTransact.Click If rb1Deduct.Checked = True Then txtp1Amt.Text = (txtp1Amt.Text - txtTransact.Text)
This append feature does not seem to work. I've looked in many places to no avail. The other examples below for writing and reading seem to be going fine.
Private Sub ApFile(ByVal textFilePath As String) Dim objWriter As System.IO.StreamWriter = file.appendtext("textTBD") objWriter.WriteLine("textTBD")
I am trying to save the contents of a richtextbox to a text file. I know that they .SaveFile method automatically overwrites the existing file so I have a routine that will load the contents of the file into a temporary rich textbox control then append the new information to that and then save from the temp richtextbox. My application works as I want it to on my workstation but I cannot get it to work correctly on the notebook computer it will be running on from now on. It only works when I put in a breakpoint and I am not sure why?
[Code]...
If I put breakpoints on any of the lines rtb.Select, rtb.Copy, rtb.Paste then it works. I even tried putting a Thread.sleep before saving, thinking that more was needed to do the copy/paste but that didnt work either.
Lets assume I have a DataSet that contains the following info (columns seperated with | character):
1 | Logan | Young 2 | John | Doe 3 | Jane | Doe 4 | Joe | Soap
If I now write this info to a text file, but later want to append 5 | Susan | Sarandonto the end of the text file, I obviously want to check that the text file doesn't already contain the data that I want to append to it. I'm having a little difficulty figuring out how to perform this check...I know you'd have to loop through every row in the DataSet's table and compare it to every line in the text file. That part's easy.
vb program to append two pdf files together into one? I have invoices that are created as pdf files and I need to append a special announcement also a pdf to the end of it so I can upload one file to the internet for customers to download and view.
I need to read an XML document, and then add nodes to it. In the example below I have a grandparent, and parent node. I then want to add sibling nodes to the document dynamically. I don't know what I am doing wrong. But at line 17 I get this error message: Error: This document already has a 'DocumentElement' node. [Code]
We are trying to Open a text file and if our needed information isn't in there, we need to write it, otherwise we need to append to the existing text. We had it working in VB6 (below) and i havent the slightest clue
CommonDialog1.Filter = "Text Files (*.txt)|*.txt" CommonDialog1.FileName = frmSplash.fp & "\job_info\" & nam Open (CommonDialog1.FileName) For Append As #1
One of my projects i'm working on takes data from a server and places the results into a DGV, problem is the data is some 10 pages long in blocks of 50, i have tried to do DataGridView1.DataSource += query.tolist but i get an error.I have also tried creating a string and trying to add the query results to it but again i get an error. The code i have is like this:-
[Code]...
I haven't yet tried, but would the data append to the dgv if i just called this again using query and removing the queryTotal variable? seem to think they behave like that from past tests?
I want to create a new bmp file with 200 x 500: Append the footer.bmp into the bottom of the new image - position (0, 300) Resize the product.bmp to 200 x 300 and position into (0, 0)How do I do this using VB.NET?
Dim oBitmap As New Bitmap(200, 500)Dim oGraphics As Graphics oGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(oBitmap)
My user can export a ".doc" file but when VB.NET writes to this file it uses "" and "," characters at the end of each sentence. I was wondering if there was a way of actually appending the exported file to remove these characters?
Im making my own process manager. but if you update it every second to keep it in real time it makes this horrible shudder (items being removed and updating) losing your selected item in the process.[code]how would i change that to only add the new items rather then restarting?
I have a VB 2008 program which shows the user's results in a ListView, and permanently stores them in a Notepad (.txt) file. The program works fine when I run it using Debug. The permanent records show up on a .txt file in the "bin". However, I want to publish the program as an executable file. I have tried this using my normal method of selecting "Publish" from the "Build" menu, and my program runs fine but there is no .txt file to be found.
The user starts out by pasting text into a textbox:
1.Phototypesetting was superior to automated typesetting because it was
(A)Easier (B)Faster (C)More flexible *(D)All of the above
What I want to do is to tag the sentence and format it as follows: MC Phototypesetting was superior to automated typesetting because it was (A)Easier incorrect (B)Faster incorrect (C)More flexible incorrect (D)All of the above correct Using the following code I can easily replace the number (1) with MC:
But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to tag each choice with correct or incorrect. The correct tag will go to the end of the choice which starts with * eg *(D) All of the above correct, while incorrect should go at the end of all other choices.
I want to create a function that will make a treeView out of link buttons. Then I want to tie all the link buttons to one click event. So each time the user does somethingI will append the users name to the current linkbuttons if the user clicks one of the link buttons a click event is raised and I can extract the text of that button.
Here is an example: Nick ...user does something...now the link string says Nick > Jeff ...user does something...now the link string says Nick > Jeff > Charlie and so on.
Now I want to give the user the ability to click one of these link buttons (there are 3 in this example). If the user clicks one of the buttons a click event is raised and I can extract the name out of the text of teh link button.
I have a mvc 3 vb.net app that I need to generate several viewbags for... I tried the following code to just drop a variable at the end of the viewbag name after each loop but it wont take it.. It says "Object variable or With block variable not set." when it his the viewbag.status(p) line on the second pass it makes through the loop...
Dim p As Integer = 0 For Each registrant In b Dim _regi As attendance = registrant
I am working with two seperate SQL statements when user conducts a search on my winforms app.A user can search based on an OrderNumber, OrderDate, ClaimNumber, ClaimDate, CustomerID, CustomerPhone One SQL statement returns the OrderNumber (in case the user searched based on OrderDate), which is used to execute another SQL statement, which returns the details about the order.
The results are populated in a gridview.Once the first statement is executed, I have a DataSource (DataSet). How can I append that datasource to display the fields from the second statement as well, keeping in mind, that the first statement could return multiple records, all of which will need to have the appropriate order details correctly linked.
Stuff like this makes me hate computers! Anyways, I'm again struggling with something relatively simple - or so i thought.I have a sub:
[Code]...
Then, I have a sub that runs every minute, calling yet another sub, which calls this one. Before you say whoa! that's too many, I'll say that each of these subs has a different purpose. The whole problem is that the WriteToFile sub writes only once to a file! Instead of continously writing to the file every minute, it stops at the first line.
I have a resource file that is a dictionary.txt file, which is basically a list of 100,000 odd records. I want the user to be able to add new words to the resource (which will be embedded in the final build).I can find ways of adding records to files e.g.[code]But how to i write new records to an embedded resource file?
Last year (2010) I came across a FANTASTIC command that allowed me to take a string of variables with a common delimiter and break it all back out into separate variables (possibly an array) with one statement.
[Code]...
As long as the delimiter was a unique specifiable character, this one-statement command could break it out into elements. my memory and point me in the right direction.
I have code, shown below, that works all except for 1 thing: The variables being passed byRef get passed, but once modified in the else section of the "if me.invokerequired" code of RecordData, the variables are never updated in the calling function. To reiterate, the calling function does not receive the updated data that is in the variables custid and amt. When debugging, I see the data change in the else section of "if me.invokerequired", but once it returns from the callback the data is missing.[code]
I define some global variables of a class as follows:
Private Class MyClass Private var1 as Decimal Private list1 as List(Of string)[code].....
But I found that after this form is closed, all above variables, var1, list1, list2 still exist in memory. I thought they should be collected by gc since the form is already disposed as I confirmed.
Add: I have monitored half an hour after the form is closed. But these variables are not collected by gc. I have an automatic update procedure on the form which uses above variables.Since the above variables still hold values, the automatic update procedure is always called which causes exception. (One quick fix is to check if form.isDisposed in update procedure. But I do not think this is elegeant. Besides, these variables occupy memory.)
I am trying to convert some old VB6 code into VB.NET. The old code used DAO and now I am trying to replicate it in ADO.NET/OleDB. I have made some advances (I think...) but now I can't figure out how to add the DataTable object into the database.[code]So instead of the TableDef, I am taking the data from the same sheet and putting it in a DataTable object (dt). I hope this is correct so far. Now my question is how to replicate the m_db.TableDefs.Append td line from above.
I have a project that I am creating a string based on a hierarchy. Without going too much into the logic, I am sure the IF THEN logic works.I have a master control table that contains a 4 number hierarchy sequence for each row. I need to loop through the control table to know how the string should look, and start a new string if the F_ID are different. I am using a For loop to index the control table and loop through it building the string as I go, based on the sequence. I am just concerned if I am referencing the previous datarow value with the .Item Overload option in the IF THEN statements correctly, and appending the stringbuilder variable using the composite primary keys properly.
