Programming Login - Developing A Windows Application Using Visual Basic 2008 With A SQL Server Database
Feb 26, 2011Iam developing a Windows application using Visual Basic 2008 with a SQL Server database. Throughout the program I give the user as many options as possible and have no problem with either the database or the windows forms. The program does not initially require a Login and I want toprovide the User with the opportunity to add a Login to the system. The default Login form is perfectly satisfactory.
The problem is that I can't figure out how to program the change sothat the Login from isopens the program rather then th form designated as the StartUp form. this forum I am able to prgrammatically change the form but I can't figure out how to make the requirement a permanent factor. I tried using a Constant, but if the User wants to change, you can't change the constant. Its an apparantly simple yes/no situation but if I set a varable to yes and then change it to no the next time the program runs, the change will be lost.

When the user clicks the "Calculate" button, the program gets the number of large and small chocolate hearts ordered from the textboxes, calculates and displays the extended price for each type of the chocolate in a label. The program also calculates the weight of the chocolate to determine the shipping cost, displays the total weight, the shipping cost and the final total due. The large chocolate weighs 4 pounds 10 ounces, and the small one weighs 2 pounds 14 ounces. Shipping cost is 35 cents per pound and 3 cents for each additional ounce. Display all dollar amounts except the final total due with 2 decimal places. Display the FINAL TOTAL DUE with a leading dollar sign and 2 decimal places. Be sure to also include a CLEAR button that will remove all inputs/outputs from the form, and an EXIT button. Define the CALCULATE button as the accept button and the EXIT button as the cancel button.

Jul 6, 2011I'm building an c# app that is designed to replicate and enhance the functionality of an VB6 app developed many years ago. My problem is that one module in the old app does some realy complicated things and trying to replicate this starting from specs would be a big pain for me. Even if this sounds like the best idea.
My question is : is there a way i could keep the old VB module and integrate it into the c# app, so that i wouldn't have to rewrite everything ?

Jan 13, 2012I am very new to Visual Studio Application Development. I'm mostly a DB guy. I used Visual Studio as a Report Designer, not much of an .Net guy though I can understand it. I am now asked to create a .net application and I'm trying to create a "Hello World" starter app. I opened my Visual Studio, click File-New Project and all I see is Business Intelligence Projects and Other Project Types. My step-by-step guide says choose Visual Basic, Windows Forms Application. But I can't see it as an option.
