I think this question has been asked already in a couple different ways and I've reviewed those posts and I've tried to do what was suggested but it doesn't seem to work for me. I've tried to place a second split container inside panel2 of the first split containter. This gave me what appeared to be a three way vertical split.

Sep 27, 2010I have code, shown below, that works all except for 1 thing: The variables being passed byRef get passed, but once modified in the else section of the "if me.invokerequired" code of RecordData, the variables are never updated in the calling function. To reiterate, the calling function does not receive the updated data that is in the variables custid and amt.When debugging, I see the data change in the else section of "if me.invokerequired", but once it returns from the callback the data is missing.[code]

Mar 23, 2012I define some global variables of a class as follows:
Private Class MyClass
Private var1 as Decimal
Private list1 as List(Of string)[code].....
But I found that after this form is closed, all above variables, var1, list1, list2 still exist in memory. I thought they should be collected by gc since the form is already disposed as I confirmed.
Add: I have monitored half an hour after the form is closed. But these variables are not collected by gc. I have an automatic update procedure on the form which uses above variables.Since the above variables still hold values, the automatic update procedure is always called which causes exception. (One quick fix is to check if form.isDisposed in update procedure. But I do not think this is elegeant. Besides, these variables occupy memory.)

Question 4: While using System.Net.Sockets is it safe/efficient to use Application.DoEvents while waiting for new data; or would be using a Do While loop be fine without DoEvents since the action would be multithreaded? Note: there can be up to 2000-3000 sockets in use at a time.

Can't Split String With Space Character Using Split(" "c)
Dec 28, 2011I'm trying to split a Yahoo historical stock price csv file, downloaded into a string, by what looks like a space character. I want a new row for each split. The split function works for other characters I see in the string. I suspect the characters may be a non breaking space character but I've been unable to split on them. how to assign value to S1?I have declared a string named S1. Now I want to assign new value to S1. The new string value is stored in a file using following format: [variable name][= as separator][string value]. How do I assign the value to S1 after retrieving the string variable name and value that stored in a file?
NOTE:
temp(0) = "S1"
temp(1) = "hello"
It should be noted that the string with the data comes from a file that may change from time to time! When the file changes, I want the variables to change as well.
Further clarification I need a piece of code that when processing a string like this "S1=hello", the code will first find a declared variable (i.e. S1), and then assign the S1 variable with "hello" string. The "=" just acted as separator for variable name and variable value.
