Transaction Error On Call To Commit() When Select Has Been Executed Inside Transaction?
May 9, 2011I get this error at the Commit of a transaction in a desktop application:
This OleDbTransaction has completed; it is no longer usable.
Other posts I have seen with similar error suggests this can occur if it takes a long time, or contains large amounts of data. This is not the case here.Logging tells me it takes 140 ms from Begin to Commit and about 10 commands executed inside the transaction.It is using an Oracle database.This class is a simplified version of my database class:

Is it not allowed to run a select inside a transaction like this? Or can it be done by running the transaction in a specific isolation level (I see that the BeginTransaction method has an optional parameter for doing this) ? ..Or some other sollution..? In my case, it was not a problem to move the select to run before the transaction started, but what if you need to run selects that must run inside the transaction?

May 4, 2012I'm using Visual Studio and table adapters using an Access DB as the backend. I need the minimum 4 digit value. I want to get next available 4 or 5 digit number. And this will change depending upon the users request. Currently I use a table adabpter query. But how would I write a query. I suppose I could do a long iterative loop through all values until I see a 4 digit.But I'm trying to think of something more efficient.

Jun 21, 2010I'm developing a data logging application using VB for the actual logging to a MySQL database. I'm reading a value from a device and then running an insert query every minute. This is great but if the value doesnt change all day then my records are going to all be the same. I'd like to try and calculate the percentage of change on the value and only run the insert query if the percentage of change is greater than, say 5%.

Jun 8, 2011the problem is about user when click button coin and it will display the decimal number and suppose to be like this : 0.10 also , i have made code about notes amount like RM 1.00 and RM 5.00. When I run the program sometimes it gives me the right output and others it gives wrong output and it rounds the output. I just want to let you know that I have the option strict on. in the form if i put a value in for owed = 30.00 and paid 34.25 my dollars returned = 4 and that is correct but the number of qtrs = 0 and should be 1. I am not sure how to correctly use this - any assistance you can provide is great - this is purely educational

You would think the selection change or index change , but that doesnt work because the tetbox doesnt actually get the new value till after the combo selection is made, so you actually have to go and make the selection twice I know i can put the code in the textbox value change , but i dont want to do that for 20 text boxes and i am assuming there must be a BETTER way?

Jan 24, 2011I've gotten this 75% completed but am now stuck on 2 separate, but seemingly "simple" fixes. I've written a coin tossing program that is supposed to give a "True" answer for heads and a "False" answer for tails as well as keep a running calculation of how many times heads and tails are shown. Additionally, there needs to be a picture that shows what side comes up. Right now, I have the "True/False" answers coming up correctly, but without any images. I've also verified that the images are in the Resource folder as well as verified that the "True/False" are correct by comparing it with the results in the heads and tails label that they show up in. I've tried to display an image(s) by embedding it as a resource in a project but it does not show up. The second problem is that the results in the labels show up as 1 & 0s, not a running tally as it should be.

I need to subtract years to get my age but when i try the birthdate.Subtract (currentDate) method i get an error about not able to convert from LONG?
