I'm trying to call or use an array of resources, tried everything I know and been searching forum. Can someone direct me? I'm using VB Express 2008.
[Code]...
How would I call a picture from my resources let's say under form_load.
<files = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles(My.Resources.Cmaj1)> The error
says that "system.drawing.bitmap" cannot be converted to "String". (The error is coming from the my.resources.Cmaj1)
I have a VB.NET program with lots of embedded resources which are images. Is there a way to get all the resources in an array so I can acces them in a for loop?I currently have to do it this way:
images(1) = My.Resources.image1
images(2) = My.Resources.image2
'...
images(80) = My.Resources.image80
Is it possible to have an array of resources?
example: dim array() as ? = {My.Resources.test, My.Resources.test2}
i have a whole lot of txt files imported in resource and i want to open a specific resource if a COmbobox.text = to "test" or test2 etc.
In short my program plays a random embedded audio file when a timer runs out, is there a way to refer to the my.resources files as an array and use them that way rather than needing to know the exact file name of the resource?
View 2 RepliesI'm really really rusty/rubbish at this, but I have a series of 11 bitmaps in my resources folder.
I'd like, each time I click a button, a different image loads in sequence into a picture box. How do I do this. I know I've got to some array which loads the images, and a loop to increment through the array, but I can't put it together with the resources folder and the PictureBox control.
I sort of got something like this:
Private
Sub Button1_Click(ByVal
sender As System.Object,
[Code].....
I need to make an array of images using references to the resources folder. The following is my code which does not work:
Dim imgPictures(8) As Image
imgPictures(0) = Image.FromFile(My.Resources.cat_1.ToString)
How do I reference the images sitting in the resources folder for this task?
I'm trying to call an array from another function into an argument command for a command prompt, but I have no clue on how to do so.This code is the code where I am calling the command prompt and adding arguments
Private Sub ConvertButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ConvertButton.Click
Using m_Process As New Process()
[code].....
I would simply like to know if it is possible to call a function using a string value.
As an example i have many functions called "openford","openvauxhall","openmini" etc.
So what I mean is, can I put all those function names into an array, then pull a name from the list and call it.
I am trying to call the method with the following declaration[code]...
The structs should both be twodimensional arrays with indexes of 4,4 and 5,4 respectively. The second one is an out parameter.
I am writing a who wants to be a millionaire console application in VB and need to write the 50/50 bit. I have tried searching for a solution but i couldn't find anything that would solve my problem. The questions and answers are stored in an array and i need to be able to call a random answer from the array.

View 2 RepliesThis is hopefully a softball syntax question: I need to call a method with an empty Object array for evaluation and set initial state. In C# I would just do this:
func(new Object[]{});
In VB.NET I am forced to do this:
Dim ctrls() As Control = {}
func(ctrls)
Is there a way to shorthand the call in VB.NET and have everything happen in one line of code?
Is there a way to define an array inside of the sub call parentheses?
Private Sub sub_name(byval sString, arrString)
sub_name("Some Text", array.{"","",""})
What I've been doing is passing a string and using a split on it to break it into an array in the Sub/Function, but I was wondering if there was a way to make the array inside the parentheses. I've looked through Google, but I'm guessing I'm not asking the right questions or it's not possible.
I am selecting a distinct user from IT_Cases_List and stored it in an arraystaff(). From this array, I will then call a Stored Procedure to count the no of cases attended by this user,(arraystaff(i)) and loop it until arraystaff.length-1
but the problem is that the count does not tally.
Sub getStaff(ByVal month As String)
If Not con.State = ConnectionState.Closed Then
con.Open()
[Code]....
ok, i've called only once getcases but i'm still having the same problem.
this is what i get when i run the program:
if i get Count(*) from the database, the total no of cases i should be getting is 132, whereas the total of cases i get from the program is 157 (7+7+20+20+49+49+5)
if i run the query from sql, this is what i should be getting
i notice that the Count number gets duplicated (7,7,20,20,49,49,5) instead of (7,20,49,5,10,27,13)
I need to pass an uint8 array from C++ DLL to VB6 application but I receive always following error: "subscript out of range" if I try to work with the array 'pabyData' in my VB6 procedure. The C procedure is: typedef void (__stdcall *FUNCPTR2SendData) (const uint8_t* pabyData, uint16_t wDataLength); void SendData(const uint8_t* pabyData, uint16_twDataLength) { FUNCPTR2SendData vbFunc; vbFunc = (FUNCPTR2SendData) ptCBFPointers->p2NewDirectDataSMSEvnt; // ptCBFPointers are call back pointers, where is saved the call back address of VB6 functions vbFunc(pabyData, wDataLength); } The VB6 procedure is: Public Sub SendData(ByRef pabyData() As Byte, ByVal wDataLength As Integer
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to write a program to call Quickbase and retrieve a database and put it into an array. It's a contacts table that I need to be able to query and select different fields according to letterheads, memos, etc. I've tried to do this three different ways.
1.) Find a direct port or some way of accessing Quickbase directly, similar to connecting to an oracle database or MS Access.
2.) Export the table to MS Excel and read the data from a spreadsheet.
3.) Opening a web browser in a background processes and login to the Quickbase account, then navigate using the little XML knowledge that I have.
I just can't find a good way to do this. Any ideas or can give some help on the code to do any of the ideas?
How can I call the Click event of an array item of buttons? [code]I want to call the item 1.the Click event of an array item 1 of buttons?
View 2 RepliesTrying to replace Cells(RowIndex,ColumnIndex).Value() calls by row-wise references for performance, I permanently fail at referencing the result. Starting with Excel Interop - Efficiency and performance, which contains the tip to use get_range, i.e.
//get values
object[,] objectArray = shtName.get_Range("A1:Z100").Value2;
iFace = Convert.ToInt32(objectArray[1,1]);
//set values
object[,] objectArray = new object[3,1] {{"A"}{"B"}{"C"}};
rngName.Value2 = objectArray;
[Code]...
However, referencing Values with two dimension indices always returns an "index was outside the bounds of the array" exception. Inspecting the array with the debugger shows a nice 2-dimensional array which should has 17 elements on the second dimension, so Value (0,0) should indeed be a valid reference -- but it isn't:
The debugger lets me inspect Value, I can also drill down to Value(0,0) and see the correct value, but re-evaluating just that element, i.e. inspecting "Value (0,0)" returns above message.
error: the item "objdebugassociateassist.frmdbsetup.resources" was specified more than once in the "resourceS" parameter. duplicate items are not support by the "resources" parameter.
View 1 RepliesI connected to the Informix server using RazorSQL, created a stored procedure and tested it, getting the expected answer, so the procedure exists in the database in some form.
I then run the following code:
If ConnectToInformix() Then
Dim cmd As New IfxCommand("dc_routeHasOutstandingQuantity", conn)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
[Code]....
This error does not occur when calling the stored procedure from a live SQL connection.
I want to create an ExpressionTree where a Func(of Vector, Vector, Vector, Vector, Double, Double, Vektor) should be called. So I use
Expression.Call(Forces(0).Function.Method, {Vec1, Vec2, Vec3, Vec4, Double1, Double2})(Vec1-4, Double1-2 are declared as ParameterExpression and Forces(0).Function as Func(of Vector, Vector, Vector, Vector, Double, Double, Vector). But I get an AgrumentException, because Forces(0).Function.Method has seven Arguments. (System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Closure as seventh argument at Index 0).
I don't understand. Till now this little app was working ok. Error1 The item "objReleaseRadni_nalozi.GlavnaForm.resources" was specified more than once in the "Resources" parameter. Duplicate items are not supported by the "Resources" parameter.Radni nalozi What gives?

I think the best way forward is pass a parameter to the function findnumber.
I am trying to convert a DLL function call which has the Callback function routine called within the DLL function call.The DLL function call signature is like this:

how to convert this DLL call to VB.NET and also how to create the callback function and send it as parameter to this function
call.
I have a VB .NET 2010 application. I added a C# project to my solution. I tried to call the form called 'main'. However, I could not figure out a way to do that. What is the best way to do that? I Goggled, and did not find anything. Actually I noticed that my Developer converted everything to VB .NET.

I've been working with VB for some time using my.resources.I recently installed it on a new computer(Windows 7 ),everything works fine...well almost.
I'm trying to teach my cousin how to change images in an image box using a button.I did it on my computer and it worked,but it wont work on his.Exact same code and images.
Here is what I did:
After having everything set-up I import the 2 images I want to use.
Then inside the click event for the button I write picturebox1.image = my.resources.picture1 "and here is where it doesn't work.It says I don't have any images in my resources named that.Instead it gives me two options Culture and ResourceManager but it doesn't show any of the images I previously imported.
*picture1 is the name of my image
I have no problem with the code(it works),I don't get why it's not seeing the imported images on my cousin's computer.
I need to be able to run a .exe within the resources i have a .exe i built a while back in vb6 and i need to be able to run it from resources so in the final installation build it would run properly on every computer that it installs on.
