Calling A DropDownLIst's Selectedindexchange Event On Pageload?

I have an ASP.NET 2.0 that contains a dropdown list used to filter records based on a group number. For example, if the dropdown list selectedvalue = 3, only records containing a 3 in the group number column of the table will display. This is working perfectly. However, when the page first displays the default value is 1, and the records from group 1 do NOT display unless I trigger the dropdown list event. I am trying to get the records to display for group 1 when the page first opens to avoid having to use the dropdown when the page loads. The "drop down list control" filters records in a "data list" control.
I am thinking of writing a piece of VB.NET code to automatically call the Drop Down List's SelectIndexChanged event on the page so the user does not have to do it. how do I call that event from the "On Page Load" or, is there a better way to do this?

I have a dropdownlist named ddlRoomName and a sql table name roomlist, when i run the sql command in sql it works fine.
But when i load the page the rooms do not load am i missing something obvious here?

I have 2 dynamically created ddls in which the second ddl populates based on the first ddl and the values of both come from a database. These ddls are inserted into a table that is dynamically generated based on some event. My problem is that everytime I select a value in the first ddl, the page load event is called and I lose the table. Is there a way to NOT call the page load on a selection? Or is there a way to generate the table with the values of ddls as soon as the page loads. I tried to fix this problem

My issue is that when the text in the text boxes is changed and the form is submitted, the .text values stay the same as they were when the datareader loaded them on the page load event. I've read thru Iceplug's tutorial on control arrays and got it working. I tried to add a new event by basically copying his click event code and calling it a doubleclick event. I used the proper addhandler and assigned the correct name to my sub. I have the click event changing the background color to blue and the doubleclick event changing the background color to green. The background color does not change to green. Why?

I have a page that contains dynamically generated Dropdown List controls and I want thant the dynamic dropdown list perform an AutoPostback to fill some other field using the value selected.[code]Control is correctly filled and rendered on ASP page but, after selecting a value, the page is reloaded (AutoPostBack is called) but the control is not diplayed and the sub is not called. I put a breakpoint into the ChangeValue sub but anything happens.I read on some post that handler for the first DropDownList is not necessary but, how is it possible to tell DropDownList to call my sub after changevalue?

I have a few checkedlistboxes in my GUI and the items in them are changed as needed. For example if I check an item in checkedlistbox1, it would trigger the items fromcheckedlistbox2 to be removed and new items will be added to it that are relevant.Similarly, depending on when the items are checked inside the checkedlistbox2, it will trigger new items to be added to checkedlistbox3. So I have added the functionsSelectedIndexChange to handle when items are checked inside the boxes.
I am running into a problem however. For example, I have some items in the checkedlistbox2 and one of them is already checked. When I click on something else in checkedlistbox1 it clears out all the items and repopulates the checkedlistbox2. In that case, however, since something was previously checked in checkedlistbox2, the selectedindexchange event is also triggered for that one as well because something was changed in that. Can I disable this somehow because technically I didn't "check" or "uncheck" anything, all I did was remove a checked item? I tried doing something like adding an if statement inside the

I am populating the DropDownList ddlItems in the Page_Load event. I am then changing the current selection of the DropDownList in the Page_Load event but the dropdownlistbox.SelectedItems aren't firing up. Can anyone please help me? The control gets bound to data on page load inside if not Page.IsPostBack (only loads once) ID proprety is set for control (ID = ddlMyControl) AutoPostBack is set to true EnableViewState on the control is set to true AutoEventWireUp in the UserControl declaration is set to true EnableEventValidation is set to false in the parent page
The control will not fire it's SelectedIndexChanged event no matter what I do.

Let's say I have a DropDownList of product categories and a ListView of products based on the category selection in the DropDownList. When a user visits the page, there is a possibility of conconrency issue as new product belonging to a new category may be added to the inventory as the user is browsing.When the user selects a different category to view(a SelectedIndexChanged event) and causes a postback, I want the DropDownList to update the list of categories to include the new category being concurrently added and at the same time still able to make a change of selected index.

I am using ASP.NET 2.0. When i place a TRY CATCH block in my event it always go into the CATCH section, in my case it re-direct the page to Default.aspx. But if I remove the TRY CATCH block the code get's executed fine and it does what it suppose to.

I use the following code in a Sub called "updateDb" to accept changes back to the Db, etc. in the .CellEndEdit event from a DataGridView:

I have a window having 2 dropdowmlists(schemename-SN and propertyno-PN) , one chkbox ,one "VIEW" button.SN has options "all" with value=0 and many other options with respctive values.Now,i want the code should behaves as follows:
1.0n window onload, SN must b visible bt PN nt.
2.if i select SN other thn All...the PN shud b visible and if i select "All" ,PN hides.
3.when check box is checked- PN hides,and if it is unchecked- PN visible..
Important:-This whole ddl n chk box are in updatable panel,button is nt in that.I want a browser compatible code so javascript can't b used directly(cz they give problem in mozzila and chrome).Right now, i have done this JavaScript and its is working fine.

Im trying to create a webform that is a representation of a paper questionnaire that has 14 questions with yes/no answers. If an answer is no, then you must provide information as to why in 3 separate textboxes and store the information only when a user clicks no.I also have 4 drop down lists that are chosen before the user answers the first question that also need to be stored with the textboxes, but the ddl's value does not change after the user starts. Right now I have 3 textboxes and a submit button for each of the 14 questions that are hidden until a user hits a "no" button, in which I change the visible property of all of them and the user then types in their reasons and submits the answer. I am currently doing this for each question and i hide/disable the textboxes and button after submitted.
My problem is that for each event on the 14 submit button's is that I'm forced to open & close an sql connection and insert the values. I know there has to be a way to simply this some so that I dont have 14 different groups of the same code. I would also like a way to eliminate having 40 textboxes on a page lol, because the idea was to have a pop up box or something open that would let the user submit it and then return to the question instead of hiding textboxes, but the user has to see all 14 questions at page load so if you got an answer to that one then that might solve my original question.

I have built a customized control inheriting the maskedtextbox in VB.NET. But i face some issues in the calling of events. While studying sample code for vb.net, I put the code in a button click event and need to click the button to see the results. It would be nice to have this code run by adding Button1_Click() to save time but I get an error because of the parameters needed for the Click event.
I get a suggested "Generate Method Stub for Button click event" which is probably a clue to the problem if I had any idea what that means.
