Inotice the directory path (the location of source code, e.g. c:uild_viewsv70r3 ....)information is stored in the generated dll, exe.This gives us a lot trouble, because I can't use another path to build the dlls, otherwise the binary compare tool will say the dlls are different, due to embeded path info is different.We have parallel development, and the code has to be built in different machines, different paths. Is there a way to resolve this
View 2 RepliesI been using the following and it appears to work OK but I just noticed that it appears to allow no more than 32 tabs because of rgxTabs(31).
Is that correct? If it is correct, how can I fix it so that the max number of tabs is not hard coded?
Also, I believe SizeConst:=32 just means the array element is 32 bits long.

OK, to make a long story short, programmatically generated data is taken back to the original page and the goal is to have this information cause checkboxes (hard coded into the aspx page) become checked.

I need to change something that is hard coded into my application - Souds simple i know - however.....In essence what i need is a single word that will be interchangable and will be available straight away and the next time the application starts up.So need to change the word that is already hard coded into the loading of the form.Like an internal password system?
ps. i was thinking of something on the lines of a sub that finds and replaces line 'x' in the load sub. unless that is uber complex - so open to any and all suggestions but please keep in mind i'm not the greatest at code - only been teaching myself for 9 months (and learning from people here for 1 month)

View 1 RepliesI want to use reflection to dynamically call a dll (not an assembly, non-managed, possibly COM object model) in vb.net.I've seen several different methods of calling a method in a dll that is a .net assembly - but I have not found the way to dynamically call a method inside of a dll like user32.dll or winmm.dll. I believe this would be called late-binding?
The reason I'm asking is because I am building a language that will depend on external libraries for lots of different functionality. An example (in this language I'm building):

When I build the interpreter for the call to mciSendString in winmm.dll, how can I use reflection to handle this? I want the user to be able to reference any dll/method they wish.Can I get some guidance in the right direction? Perhaps even some vb.net code that I can take apart and understand?
Does calling the Dispose method on a Windows.Forms.Timer call it's Stop method? Or should I stop the timer before I dispose it?
View 5 RepliesWhen I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it.It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. Below is some code to illustrate what I am seeing, the code from the some.dll assembly calls a method named PerformLookup. For testing I put a similar MessageBox type output with "PerformLookup Time: " as the text. What I end up seeing is:
First: "PerformLookup Time: 40:842"
Second: "initIndex Time: 45:873"

I am loading an assembly dynamically and invoking a static method from it. The problem arises when the method uses a reference which is not trivial (e.g. mscorlib or System.Core) - I get System.MissingMethodException. I have tried going through the references assemblies of the loaded assembly and manually loading them all, thus forcing them to be loaded onto the AppDomain. I have checked CurrentDomain.GetAssemblies, the assemblies are loaded.

The casting of the worksheet works as my data is entered in other parts, but I have a section where I need to add data 1 column right of the cell containing the 'str(0)' value. I have a windows service that I have been writing in Vb.Net. As part of this service it calls a class that has a long running Process.I can execute commands to this process when I want to via the ServerCommands() class within the service, however I want to call these remotely. Possibly from a website or click once WPF application.
For this I have used a simple Tcp.Ip WCF example, and have verified it as working correctly.

It appears that in debug _serverCommands is Nothing when it should be running.How might I go about ensuring any command I execute through WCF communicates with the running instance instead of creating a new ServerCommand() instance??I haven't tried WCF before, so I might be hitting a dead end... however I'm sure its possible.

I have a .dll file (Interop.ACTMULTILib.dll) that I use to connect to a PLC. This .dll contains a sub called ReadDeviceBlock2(byval devicename as string, byval size as integer, byref data as short).My console application startup thingy is a module. When I call this method in my main it works fine, if I call it from another method that was called by main it works as well.However, it doesn't work when I call it from my Timer_Elapsed sub? I guess this has to do something with threads but I can't figure it out.
