Can't Get Correct Instance Of Excel For Paste

I'm trying to access the most recent instance of Excel so I can paste data. What works for me is if Excel isn't already opened, I open it and can paste the data where I want to. What isn't working for me is if there are multiple instances of Excel open.
I'll explain: Say I have 3 instances of Excel opened, each with one workbook. Instance 1 = Book1, instance 2 = Book2, and instance 3 = Book3. I want to paste my data to Book3, since that's the most-recently-opened instance. Here's my code:

The AppActivate (line 10) does indeed activate the correct instance of Excel (Book3), but xlApp (line 13) ends up getting assigned to the Book1 instance, and my data ends up pasting there, even though Book3 is the visible/active workbook.

I want to encapsulate the use of Excel Interop to make it easier to use somehow in a reuseable library.So far, I have written some tests that work good altogether, except that between each test, I force Excel to quite so that it does have handle on the test file no more in order to be able to delete.Once I quit the application instance between after each of my tests, Excel seems to be no longer responding, causing Windows to display "Excel has stopped working and is looking for a solution"
message. This message lasts a few seconds, meanwhile Excel is closing, causing the hang on the file to occur and my tests to throw an exception like "Cannot access file because it is being used by another process..."

I have an application the contains several excel files bundled with it. I'm not opening the files and processing them within my application. These files contain a data-connection to reload all of the pivot-tables within each excel file. I have a 'link' on my form, that when clicked, it determines which file to open and calls a sub using filename and executing Process.Start(filename) for any excel file I want to open. I have no problems opening any one of the files and then exiting excel.
The problem is when I 'close' a file, but don't exit Excel; then try to open another file(clicking link on form)... it creates a new instance of Excel.
I know from experimenting that the fileopendialog form will 'reuse' an existing Excel instance, IF it does not already have a file open.
How can I do the same thing without using the fileopendialog?
I don't want the end-user to have access to the folders where these files live. That's why I have multiple 'links' on my form, one for each xls that already exists. I just want them to be able to click on a link and the xls file opens AND if they choose to merely 'close' a file and not exit... Don't create a new instance of Excel, but re-use the existing one.

I have 300+ excel files that need to be combined. There are 4 different types and in 4 different directories on my network. I need to copy the data out of each one and combine the data into a new single workbook (1 for each type). I have come up with a solution that does MOST of what it is supposed to do. Only problem is I can't figure out how to have the paste operation go to the same single workbook. No matter what I have tried it opens a new copy of excel to paste into everytime. I am generating a report to Excel and each group in the report needs to be on another worksheet. The number of groups can vary on each report. I have set up my headings as a template on "Sheet1" in the Excel workbook. Part of this headings is a picture of the company logo.I use this to copy the headings and create the next worksheet and then paste the headings onto the new worksheet.[code]"ColRow" is a public function used to set the Column and Row for Excel Ranges "i" is an interger keeping track of the sheet we are working on.And it all works perfectly except that the company logo does not come with during the paste.I would really like to know how to bring the company logo across as well.

I am working on a project that copies information from one excel sheet to anther. The original Sheets never have the same layout twice. So I created Text box for a person to in put the Start location, the end location, and column information. So the Plan is to use openfileDialog Browse button to get the file for the save location. Have the Text box populated by a user then use anther button to Open the file form the Browse (still Experimenting with the code to make this work) run the copy and past it into a standard layout of the new Excel sheet.

I am working in VB.net 2008. I have a Window application that will be used to eliminate a lot of manual copy and paste activates from one work sheet to anther. Workbook 1 (wbMatrix)Never has the same layout twice. The destination Workbook2(wbTemplateSAS)has a defined layout that remains constant. To collect the copy ranges the user pouplates the text box on the form. Only the textbox that need popualted. There are 16 total. These textbox values are then concantianted to create the range. This process is intiated with button click.
When itinated the copy and paste works but not as expected. Cell.text range paste correctly In A9, OEC range paste correctly in P9. After that it skips the next colume as it should. Then in colume R9 the error starts the a paste of the range A10:B10 form wbMatrix is pouplated in R9:S9 Then It paste accoring to the application T9. Then in U9:X9 it paste date for wbMatrix A10:D10. It paste correctly again in Z9. it has the same error agiain till the next Range. It then paste correctly in 9AD. This should be the last paste that have values entered in the textbox to create the range. But it does not finish it paste the balnce of the cells form wbMartix on wbTempateSAS.
To sumerize above

I have a small copy/paste type of program. You put text in the boxes, click copy and it copies it to the clipboard. I have a text file attached to format the text when it is copied. what I want to accomplish is...If I don't fill in every single textbox with text, I don't want that particular field to show when I paste it. Example, I have the layout like below on the text document.
textbox1.
textbox2.
textbox3.
No matter what, when I click copy, the text document is going to copy textbox1,2,and 3. If I only put text in textbox 1 and 3, I don't want it to copy textbox2 if its empty.

I am writing a class project application that is loadable from within AutoCAD. This application generates an Excel workbook with extracted data. I am having a problem with Excel closing when finished. It seems the Excel instance hangs until my application is unloaded. I have found the section of code that seems to be causing to hang, but I'm not sure why its hanging to prevent it.
Below is a copy of my code for the class (top to bottom with exception of the FileExistValidation method... too many characters ). The code section that is commented out seems to be what is causing it to hang. If I uncomment that, Excel hangs, with it commented out, Excel closes out in the background.[code]...

I will know how do I work with the opened excel instance, when I use multiple userforms. I have on my form1_load open a excel file. Then I observed that on my next userform, was unable to write to that file again. Project have no instance of APP.workbook.

I try to develop a automation-add-in for Excel which can get some data from our SQL DB. So i call my add from an Excel-cell.. like "=getThisFromDb()"... This works totally fine! But what if i want to write to another cell then just give a return value? I managed to get the running instance of excel. I can read from it. I can open a new document in it and write to it. ->> But can't write to the Worksheet that called me!!

I have a webbrowser control which I have created a contextmenu for. I have added a paste button and do docbrowser.body.inner.body = clipboard.gettext. The problem with this is when I copy text from a word document and paste it I loose all the formatting. If I remove my context menu and use the default and paste I keep my formatting.

I have created a basic query generator which allows a user to select the Select, WHERE and criteria attributes using a number of checkboxes.However i have got stuck. In the results form i have the following code

The program keeps on crashing if the user does not select the corresponding amount of display records from above for the amount of attributes they want for the SELECT part of the query in the intreface in form 1.
How would i go about making something where the number of SELECT attributes selected which are listed in a string create the correct number of textbox fields in the results form (form2)
