I am using the RichTextBox Keydown event in Windows Vista, Visual Studio 2010 to detect when key combinations are pressed, and it works great, with one simple exception:Case Keys.Alt ' Does not work! Everything else works fine.

I have programed other keyboard shortcuts and all of them work except for the arrow keys, my program does not even acknowledge the KeyDown or KeyPress Event with the arrow keys. I'm working through a programming project, which should be quite easy but im stuck right at the start (relatively new to VB). I have a textbox (named textbox1) and a checkbox next to it. I want the checkbox to be ticked (.checked) when ever the value in the textbox is between 1 and 100, the checkbox to not be ticked when theres nothing in there, and for it not to be ticked when the value is < 1 and > 100. Figured a case statement would be the easiest. (this piece of code is just a validation check, basically in the real thing the user would have to enter in a value between 1 and a given number, and need to tell the user if that value is valid).

But what happens is, if I enter in the value 1 in the textbox, the checkbox becomes ticked, as it should. It tick with any values between 2 and 99 (any number not starting with 1) but the checkbox becomes ticked again when the value is 100. For any other range, say 1 to 70, the checkbox would be ticked if the value in the textbox is 1 to 7, or any number starting with 1 or 7, but not 8 or 9, or any number starting with 8 or 9.

In this thread I posted a problem regarding getting buttons to click when you hit certian keys. It was resolved like this:

When my form loads it adds some handles (using AddHandler) to a sub (showStatus). What this sub does is checks which control activated the sub (using sender.Equals) and displays text in the status label (status) accordingly.For this I use an If...Then statement for each possibility. There are many possibilities and my code get cluttered. Is there a way to do the same thing with a Select...Case statement. If the result is 86 and it's mod by 43 the answer is 2 Case 2 is not firing. it just goes to the end of the procedure.
How could I loop through a list of the keys that are available in the 'Keys' enumeration? It seems like it should be something easy to do, but I'm not having any luck finding a collection that I can loop through.

Firstly Case 2 runs. Throws exception. And right after this debugger shows that next processed statement is Case Else. Only after Case Else throws own exception Catch block start working. I've never seen this trick. Why can this happened?I'm sure the block is entered once (not like this:first enter hit Case 2 and second hit Case Else).
Update:-To Matt Wilko. Thank you for answering. I've switch to Strict On in Options of VS2010 but nothing has changed. Command is variable, not function. Watch tool shows that on each step Command is the same ( Command = 2).

and change project to Console app. This works as I mention. The fix was in Release mode. I was debugging in Release mode. When I switch to Debug mode everything goes as it should.
So I found this little morpg. The game is fun but really repetitive. I would like to simplify some of the tasks in the game. I do not know how to start this project. How can I recored arrow keys and then tell the computer to enter the arrow keys? One of the objectives in the game is to run around a farm 2x and scare away any wolfs. So the commands would be "arrow key up" for 30sec and then "arrow key right" for 4 sec and repeat. I have worked with robots in real life for some time. We would fill arrays with such instructions. One of the most fun things to program! But I have no idea how to do this in VB.

I tried a couple of the send keys and they will not send any keys at all. I need a true Space bar input (SendKeys does not work for me). Also, I would like this to work on 32 and 64 bit computers. View 2 RepliesI have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
I have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.
