I have being having an issue when trying to find the average between 3 groups, female ("F") , male ("M") and Both Together but it seems that my If statement isn't working as only the "sumOfAllAverage" is showing and the rest is returning an value of "0"

I enter numbers and Names into a text box and click 'add to list'. THe names go into a seperate listbox to the numbers.I then press 'show me the list' and i get to view my numbers and names listed in the two listboxs. I also have a button which averages the numbers in the numbers list box. But i dont know how to get it to work I will divide by the number of items in the list box.note: The average will be displayed in a label called: lblavg

The app I am writing deals with utility service addresses, and right now I am forcing the user to know enough to separate the parts of the address and put them in the appropriate fields before adding to the database. It has to be done this way for sorting purposes because a straight alphabetical sort isn't always right when there is a pre-direction in the address. For example, right now if the user wanted to put in the service address 123 N Main St, they would enter it as:
Street Number = 123
Pre-direction = N
Street Name = Main
Street Type = St

I've found this method to be cumbersome, slow, and even totally wrong when given a wonky address. I'm wondering if what I'm trying to do here would be a good application for a regular expression? Admittedly I've never used regex in anything before and am a total newbie in that regard.Edit - Seems more and more like I'm going to need a parser and not just regex. I'm working on a function to return a exponential average and there are a lot of examples of exponential moving averages but they all start with a moving average that is just the mean as a lead in to calculating the continuing moving average. I needed just a exponential average of a value set. After Googling my Bing off I still haven't seen anything so here is my attempt at a basic exponential average. Is this correct? Are there any errors? I have seen some text about adding a smoothing value to change the curve of the exponential average but not how that would be implemented.

I'm in a computer science class, and we are writing simple programs using Visual Basic 2008. I am really inept when it comes to this, as I have never done it before. I need to write a program that: "Asks the user for 5 numbers and computes the average. It then displays the average with an appropriate message before the average."
I have been really close with this, but I can't get the numbers to add up, then divide by 5, and display a pop up message.
I'm currently working on an application that allows users to select picture files and then categorize them into folders. Now I'm having two issues that are probably simple to fix but I only have a year of experience with vb so I just don't know how to fix them. The first and biggest issue is that once the user has selected and categorized a file, I want the program to select the next file in the folder that the first file was moved from. This way the number of clicks required is minimized. However I have no clue what I would need to do in order to accomplish this. Also, my other problem is that I want to be able to find the indexof a quotation mark but whenever I put it in the parameter it just reads it as a quote.

a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?

I have a question regarding average and max values. I am new at programming. I have 6 text boxes with generated numbers in them. I need the max number to show up in one text box and the average to show up in the other.Sometimes not all six boxes will be used so I can't just do textbox1 + textbox2 + textbox3 + textbox4 +textbox5 + textbox6 /6 = average and as for max I have no clue how to do that.

As you can see I have managed to get the program to calculate the Sum of the in the array, but I am struggling with getting the average.Say, for example, I enter three sets of 90's, I get 3.
