Make Sure Data Source File Will Be Installed At Pre-defined Location?
Dec 8, 2011After I published my application and then installed it to the same computer i used to develop the application, there was an error during the installation, the data source file was not found in the new location set by VBE 2010. How to make sure data source file will be installed at the pre-defined location? so that there will be no installation error.

Jun 21, 2010I need to holds the common settings for all of the apps ona server (UNC path). Previously I used an ini file on the server and the application was told to look there via a command switch.
I understand that I'm trying to use .net in an old fashioned way by not packaging it for web update & delivery but that's a contraint of the architecture I need to work with.
Is there any way to force my application to use the application.exe.config file from a set location rather than the user data area that .net automatically writes it to? Even if not on a server path, then in the application directory where we can push update it?

Feb 26, 2012Im trying to make a program that works a bit like the log in on a computer. But i cant make it load a different .config file depending on what username is used. I want it to load a config file from different directories that match the username. eg if the username was bob then it could be: C:MyProgramLoginBobapp.config I've been teaching myself and this has had me stuck for ages.

Change The User Settings (*.config) File Location?
May 18, 2009I am just not happy with the fact that the user.config file gtets saved in the user's account folder. Is there a way to save it in the Application's Startup Folder instead? I couldn't find any configuration properties within the PROJECT PROPERTIES which would let me change the file location.

Source Code Available For The Current Location?
Oct 21, 2009I have a WinForms app in a single project written in VB.Net 2003 (legacy code). There is a MainForm and a SecondaryForm that is run by the MainForm. When I run the app thru the MainForm, I can debug with no problem. However, if I just run the SecondaryForm, I get the debug error, "There is no source code available for the current location", when stepping over,_routeId = CInt(myVar)
At this point I am no longer able to debug thru my code window, but have to use the disassembled code.

Even i try to debug using f8 and msgbox in all forms,It doesn go thru it.I dont know what goes wrong with my application.All the while it goes perfectly alright.what does this error message meant and why all the way in sudden it happens to be like this?

Jan 13, 2012As I have no idea on how to retrieve access data at the specific location in the table, so I wrote VBA code t export the entire access database to a datagridview which is located in the form1. There's a column of datagridview contain complete address information of a image. I'm thinking a way to link image source (of form 2 or xaml file) to the the column so that the image will be displayed. is there any code to get cell value at the specific location in the table? In excel VBA, sheets("Sheetname").Cells(rownumber, columnnumber).value is used to get the cell value, but how about code for this case?

Jan 26, 2010I don't know what this is called so I've struggled to find an answer from google but I have a vague memory of it from t'old days.I've sub-classed (* see below) about 8 framework controls, overriden some properties and added some functionality into each one.The changes I have made are identical in every case. If I make a change, I have to go through each class and apply the same change there.I was hoping there may be a keyword such as <IncludeSourcefile "common.vb> that I can put into each class.
(* note) I use the term sub-classed but I don't know if that's the correct terminology. I've also seen it used for call-backs. Is sub-classed the correct term to use?

So I have a new instance of frmClue. Inside my main form I have the code:
frmClue2.Owner = frmClue

frmClue2.Show()
The code works except for setting the location. The location is initially set to {X = -3 Y = -3} and it will not change. I have tried to set it to new Point(1440, 0) and that does not work. One interesting thing I found was if I declared the new instance of the form locally inside my main form rather than in the module, then the initial location is set to {X = -1 Y = -1} and I can change it no problem. However anytime the code leaves the main form, the instance disappears hence why I declare it as public in the module. I used the same code to create a new instance of the main form as well and there are no problems.

Nov 4, 2011I'm developing a program at the moment and I'm trying to add the capability to add a texbox everytime you click a button. This is simple other than I'm trying to be efficiant as possible, so I made a sub that creates the textbox and the button calls the sub. Here is where it gets tricky I want the new textbox to move just below the previouse textbox, I'm not sure how to do this since Im only really createing one textbox over and over and having a variable name it by one. This souds confusing I know, but check out my code and it will make since. Really all I'm trying to do is change the location of a unknown textbox say since I create a textbox name textbox0 then when I hit the button again my varibale goes up by 1 which makes the new textbox, textbox1. how to I tell VB to change textbox1's location.[code]...

Sets the update location to that file and initiates the click-once update subroutine. Problem, I don't know how this update feature can be modified this way in run-time. I would set the update location using the solution properties but this program may exist anywhere on the hard drive, or even on a thumb drive (as per its design).
