Change Proxy Settings While Using Watin?

I am using Watin mostly to automate thing I do by hand. Sometimes, I need to change proxy. To do this, I have to set up IE to use a local proxy all the time (listens locally and forwards to a remote porxy), and then by hand change the settings of that program each time I need to use another proxy.
This is not an elegant solution! It may work, but it is not nice.
So, my question is, how do I change programmatically IE settings while using Watin? I code in VB.NET.

I've been doing some testing with WatiN lately. For one of the tests I will need to use a proxy to perform the tests. I can set the proxy manually from IE, but I want to do it programatically. In the past I've had success setting proxy for webbrowser control using the code from here [URL] Unfortunately this does not work for WatiN.

I am writing a program to automatically switch my proxy address based on the network I am connected to.
I have so far got everything to work except the part that I have highlighted below.
Is there any way to change the automatic configuration script and the automatically detect settings in code?
The solution can be either P/Invoke registry editing. I just need something that works.

I was wondering if it is possible to change the Proxy settings("Automatically Detect Settings") in IE without making the change to the registry. I wasn't sure if the Hive is similar in all operating systems, So I figured there has to be an API to make the change, also without having the restart the IE or the computer for that matter.

I'm working on adding a reference to B into A, so that we can use the functionality B provides without rewriting/reintegrating that code manually into A. I have a develop copy of A on my PC that I'm working with, and am calling a test copy of B on a remote server (the test server is accessed over the internet at our hosting provider)I believe to have my code ready for testing, but every time I go to test it on my local copy, I get the following error.No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 10.1.X.XX:8080

It fails on the call to oZip.GetCities() with the above error. The IP in the error message does not in any way indicate it's made it out of our local network, it's a 10.* private IP, whereas the test server has a valid live publicly accessible IP.

This is a continuation of this thread:[URL]..However, I feel that the problem have changed into something else now, so I started a new thread.
I want to edit the registry key under:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet SettingsConnections
to set the LAN-settings for Internet explorer. There are four different settings that can be turned on or off here. I want to know how to edit the registry key to manipulate each one of those.I found this thread, where they talk about it:[URL]..In post #17 it's explained how it works. But I don't understand it. He talks about a bit-mask consisting of bit5-8 in the key, and what bits correspond to what setting. I tried this out to the best of my understanding, but it didn't work at all. The settings didn't change according to what he said there. Is there someone here that is familiar with this and can explain it better, and why it won't work for me?

I have a code that will change the proxy IP settings in the Registry. This works perfectly, however the second time I try to change it, the web browser does not use it - it uses the first one I changed to. For example..I start up the program. I enter 0.0.0.0 as the IP, and it changes to 0.0.0.0, which has been confirmed. A few minutes later, I enter 1.1.1.1 as the IP, but it still uses 0.0.0.0.

Alright I know that this question is asked all too often on vbForums but I am running into this problem and none of the posts have been clearly answered, a majority of them just redirect to some deprecated VB6 code that cannot be transferred easily to VB.Net. I was wondering if anyone would be able code to refresh my Local Area Network settings on a windows seven computer.I have code that will set all of the registry values that I need. (I have read on other posts that this is not the best way but then they just link to old non-.Net code that will not fit into my project.) I was wondering what exactly the 'Ok' button when you exit the LAN Settings window does, because this part is what actually refreshes the Ip of the computer to use proxy settings set by the registry values, I was hoping to have my program only be one button, that would do all of this without it opening the LAN Dialogue (requiring further human interaction.)

I am working on an application where User enter the IP address and Port of HTTP Proxy Server to use it. figured out a way to change Proxy settings using registry, however that is not system wide, that only works for IE and chrome.I have been searching internet for about a week and could not find a way to set a system wide proxy to be used by all application. Is there any way to do so.

I'm using the following code to bind watin to a webbrowser on the winform.
Dim w As IE = New IE(WebBrowser1.ActiveXInstance)
Settings.AutoStartDialogWatcher = False
w.GoTo("http://google.com")
I can see from wireshark that the page get's loaded, but the form is frozen until a exception gets thrown "Timeout while Internet Explorer busy". Is there a way to bind watin to the webbrowser control?

I have a facebook account that has around 1200 friend request. Obviously I dont wanna go through and click each one. So I figure I would make a App for it. So I have it working, but its going sooooo Slow....I have it, Clicking the first Confirm button then closing IE, Then opening it back up and clicking the next one. I know it would be alot faster if i could keep that instance of IE open and have it go through and click each Confirm Button but I cant figure out away to do it. If I put it in a loop, it will submit the first one, then when it loops for the second time it finds the first one again, and says its disabled. Any Idea of how I can get it to move on to the next Confirm button? Here is the code I got written so far.

net/watin application and I am trying to select and item from a combobox on a client's website. I can use watin to drop the list down and select (highlite) an item from the list but the selected item will not populate the textbox above. It seems like watin's .select() is not triggering an event to fire.I can work around this by writing in the first letter of the item in the combobox and use the hypertext feature to select the item but this is not ideal.

I'm making a application to use in college to retrieve my calendar and other things in VB.NET. But my college uses a proxy so when I connect my laptop I need to change the internet settings in my web browser to view web pages. how I would send requests via a proxy server in VB.NET? Or is there a piece of software that I can download which tunnels all connections or is there a setting in win7 does this?

1) check a Folder Option setting in XP and store it
2) change the setting
3) restore it when I am fished
The Setting is in the Folder Options in the Control Panel. Double click on Folder Options, Goto File Types Tab, Click on the Advance Button. There are three checkboxes at the bottom of the dialog box:
Confirm Open after Download
Always show Extension
Browse in same Window
I want to change the "Browse in same Window" setting.

Is it possible to change application settings between two projects?
Here's what I'm trying to do- let me know if there's a better way, though:
I have two projects involved, a UI layer and a data access layer. I can modify the connection string at runtime in the UI, but I want to be able to set the connection string on the data access layer the same way. Right now I'm trying to use application settings but I don't know how to access settings from one project in another.

To start with, I know that applications scope settings are read only, and user scope settings are read/write. My problem is this: I am creating an application which will be used in a setting where an "administrative" user (admin in this case does not denote any computer ability whatsoever- just the one in control of the computer) will be installing my application onto a computer where several users will likely use the application. I have a number of program settings which I would like the administrative user to be able to set, and have those settings be used for all users who run the program.

I am making an application for my school library, which lets the user see how many books have been borrowed, how many returned, and how many that have not been returned. I am using My.Settings to do this. I have no problem saving the settings, or making them change according to how many books have been returned or borrowed, but when I try to load them into a few labels, I get an error.
