I want to prompt the users every time they log into my app that their computer might be at risk and give them a link to windows update website (or windows update application from control panel).
Preferably it should work on XP, Vista and Windows 7. Maybe there is a registry key or even better an API?

Jun 10, 2012I want to do a For Each loop where i can check whether each button is enabled or disabled. If the button is enabled then i have to obtain the values in the tags for each button. I have 26 buttons each containing different values (cash prizes).*IMPORTANT: this code needs to go under the button so every sixth time its pressed it checks the buttons.
Pseudo-Code:

but it gives me error that expression does not produce a value. Any one know how to achieve this. Currently I am using VS2010 MStest in vb.net.

Jun 21, 2010In my application I have more then one form/dialogs, of course. My start up (main) form is called "StartForm" and when I want to access to some other dialogs, I open up dialog and I put StartForm on ".Enabled = False" so that user can't access to that form even if he click somewhere on it (StartForm is maximized to full screen and dialogs are small so StartForm can be seen in background when you open dialog). Ok, this works fine until I click on my application "link" in task bar...then, only my StartForm is visible and it's ".Enabled = False" so I can't do anything...I must kill process in task manager. Same thing happens when I open some other application and then come back to my application.

Jun 8, 2011So i have a listbox that i have there for a list of proxies. I have 4 buttons pertaining to it. they are find, load, save and check
I have the first 3 finished and working but i haven't found anything useful pertaining to checking the proxies, the only one that i found took like 6 seconds per proxy so it took a lot of time for a decent sized list.
So how could i make it that on the press of that button, it checks all of the proxies in the listbox and it deletes the slow ones and the ones that flat out do not work. and does this at a decent pace(so it would probably be multi threaded)
and since i can not figure this out i have no code pertaining to this except for the sub for the button click i do not feel there is a need to post code

Aug 5, 2009I have a usercontrol with a picturebox and a few buttons related to it, such as LoadFromFile, Paste and Zoom (that last one pops up a new form). Is there a way to override the basic Enabled property of the usercontrol so that I can keep the Zoom button active all the time, while turning off the other buttons?
I realize there are 2 "obvious" replies. don't do Enabled=False, create a custom method. do everything in the one form, not a usercontrol, so you can pick and choose disabling. Both are less than ideal, given that I'm putting this control into a couple of existing forms, so I'd like to work around how those forms already behave. So is there a way to override the behavior of my usercontrol when it gets disabled? What would be my best strategy?

But my college uses a proxy so when I connect my laptop I need to change the internet settings in my web browser to view web pages. how I would send requests via a proxy server in VB.NET? Nov 26, 2010As i'm learning more and more about developing ive just got my head around creating classes and modules, i started wondering about something to do with configuration of applications where deployment is in a more diverse environment say in a company where different branches dont need access to all parts of a program, so i thought id throw the question out there in a basic sense and get some feedback. so i can go off and do some more reading and learning.
So the scenario in my head is like this.
So we have for arguments sake FrmConfig which is the master configuration form, then we have FrmMain which is the root menu our application general user interfaces with. So here based on what options are checked as enabled in FrmConfig effects what controls (like buttons/menu options) are enabled in FrmMain.

Dec 5, 2010I am using Microsoft visual basic 2010 for a asp.net site using c#.I am using the asp.net configuration for user registration. I have a comments form which I want to appear only if a user is logged in.I now there is a toolbox helper thing called Login View which does exactly what I want but as soon as I put a form inside the code won't compile because it cannot find the textbox fields.

I'm using Canvas Auth.Authorize and it works fine. Now I want to know whether the currently logged in user already likes my app. How could I do that?
'SignedRequest' does not seem to work because according to Facebook Documentation "This field is only present if your app is being loaded within a Page Tab". graph/user/likes is also not an option because I don't want to ask the user to grant access for my app to all his likes.But the Facebook Plugin is able to differ whether the current user likes my app or not, so I'm quite optimistic that there is a way which I just did not find yet.
