I want to write an application which will call the remote computer. I mean when I click on call button on my form it should call the remote computer which I want to call and display the video with audio on my form. something like making video call.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to develop a windows application where i can get connected to remote server and look for process state going in remote server.We have many remote servers where automatic installation of software going on. We have an xml file(installstatus.xml) where it tells us at what stage the installation is (Example : Inprogress , Completed, Failed.)
So our aim is to develop a windows application where i can get connected to that servers and look for their installation status(may be we can use installstatus.xml to look for installation status). Every time i connect to a server, the server information should get stored in XML file(i want to create a xml file where all the servers list i connect to should get stored)
The UI at left side should will have list of servers i can connect to. When i get connected to server, at right side of UI, i want to display the status of installation (In progress, failed , completed).
I just want to ask or I need some idea on how to convert wav files to mp3 and compressed the file to make the size smaller. I've search on the internet and find vorbis.dll as a reference object and lame.exe for converter. With regards to the audio compression, i downloaded monkey's audio software but doesnt have an idea on how to incorporate it.

View 5 RepliesI have a vb.net project which i have inserted pictures and video. I inserted a video clip using the Windows Media Player control and it does work. The issue i have is that i can't move the program to another computer because the pathname for the video will be wrong. I know i could change the pathname when i move it but this is not practical because i need to present this program. Does anybody know how to make the video accessible no matter what location the program is at?

am programming a media player in VB.Net using the Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback namespace. I would like to be able to play video files which have multiple audio streams (eg. several languages or commentary) and select which audio stream to play. As far as I can tell the Video and Audio classes don't provide this functionality.

However, not all of the computers and servers are Windows boxes, and this is causing us some grief.
Is there a way in VB .NET to determine if a computer is running a Windows OS before trying to make a connection to it?
In my program I have one line of code that worked one day, and not the next. I didn't change anything in this part of the code, but sure enough, going back a day, it works.

Now, this is the exact same line of code in the copy that works, and the copy that doesn't. The line is identical, so there must be a problem with my actual resources or something.I know this line of code is getting called... I can put a breakpoint on it and put debug.print statements before and after it.Now, in my resources, tada is listed in there, and the file seems to be there appropriately. In fact, if I double click it in the tree, it plays, and I can play it on the resources screen as well. I even tried adding a different wav file, and no luck!
Putting a try/catch block around it shows that no errors are thrown.I've tried it on 4 different computers with different configurations. Same problem.how to debug this?

I'm developing an audio management system which allow user to add audio files itself into database together with the audio information such as artist name and album year. I just started it few days ago and face some problems.. my song in the playlist wont continue to play after 1 finished and i need some idea on how to store the audio files into database ... in blob types may be?

I am monitoring 12 video feeds from video cameras. Now I have more than 12 cameras, I have 134. But I will only monitor 12 cameras at a time. By Monitoring I mean, I have 12 small video screens on the form that I can see the video. The way I know which cameras are active, so I can monitor them is by a boolean value in a sql database. I run a Store Procedure in my program, and spit out the results in a XML file. I then read the XML file in a loop. This XML file will have a list of the camera names I need to monitor.
So that is for 12 video feeds. Now, I want to have a NEXT or FORWARD button on my monitor form. So when I click this it will give me the next group of cameras, 13 to 24. Now if I only have15 cameras that are active, that means the first group is 1 to 12, then the second group is 13 to 15 cameras. So I will only have 3 to monitor on the second grouping. One thought I had was to have another field in my table to mark as already as an active monitor, so when I run the SP, i will not select that row. But I need to select 12 at a time. Or I can make a number of xml files, one xml file for each grouping of 12, but I need to figure out how I can select the next group without re-selecting the first group. I have no code at the moment, I'm on my non-programming computer.
