Iam a pretty much beginner to all this stuff. Bassicly i want to connect to a website, and read the RSS feed. I've googled for a few hours now without luck, i can only find something about database connection and some socket connection to a client and so on. Searched on msdn too, without luck.
I have been piecing together bits of code that I have found and customized it to work with my app. Now the following code works find out of a separate thread, but as soon as I put it into its on threads it doesn't want to connect.[code]...
I'm looking to have a program connect to a specific website, enter data, and then return something but without using the WebBrowser.For instance, I want it to:
Connect to a website Login to the website Return if it logged me in or some error etc
I'm kindof new to VB so I'm not sure how to go about this Edit: I read up a little bit about using WebClient and I understand a small bit of it but not much
I am Trying to add some information to a data base server, a person's ID, the experiment he is participating in, and the date of the experiment.This is my code:
SQLConnection1.ConnectionString = MyConn Dim drNewRow As DataRow = DtsLabSystem1.tables("SubjectExperiment").NewRow drNewRow("SubjectID") = lblSubjectID.Text
Ive been trying to connect to the MySQL database located on my website using vb.net 2008 express... i have been failing, when i run my code i have i get the following error,
ERROR [IM002] [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
That error comes from this code,
Code: Dim connectionString As String = "Driver={MySQL};SERVER=coolness.something.com;DATABASE=Citys;UID=admin;PASSWORD=p975311;" ' Dim conn As New OdbcConnection(connectionString)
So, in this program I added 2 necessary login codes let's say, first a code that I will provide and then the username and password from my website. I implemented both ways, the first one worked perfectly, however, the second one is giving me some problems, my idea for that control was not using a database of users, that was going to be too complicated for a 14 year old guy, so I decided to take the source code for my website and I took a fragment, the boxes for the login, username, password, forgot your password, remember me and some other boxes, great, that worked perfectly, I uploaded the HTML modified document to my website's files and linked it to the URL of the webbrowser control in one new form, good, it's working, but I wanted a simple condition that works for this function "When the webbrowser loads the success website, hide me and show the past login form, when this one shows the failed login, popup a messagebox that says the error.". I have been looking for that simple condition for a long time. I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition.
The VB.Net desktop app uses the IE browser control to navigate the web. When a normal page loads the document_complete event fires and I can read the resulting page and go from there. The issue I am having is that the page I am driving is written with AJAX, so the document complete event never fires. Furthermore, when you view the source of the page after it loaded a new portion via AJAX, it hasn't change.
im working on a project to make my job easier and i am lost on what i need to look at to make this work how i want it. Description: using vb(or another suggested language or process) i have a form that has a web browser and a few buttons (basically like a simple browser: bookmark buttons, refresh, forward, back, and address bar).

Anybody know how to use a IXpsFixedPageReader to get the text parts out? There's an example here to get the images out but I can't see an equivalent to get the text...
i have this code to save a rtf document as read only, but why is that when you re open it, it is not in the same format as when you saved it. like if the text was read and courier new p20, it comes out as the default font.
Private Sub readon_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles readon.Click Dim sfd As New SaveFileDialog
I'm trying to read a website and if it contains the specified text then it will do nothing, and if it doesn't then it will add a integer to the counter.
From my vb.net application I need to get certain information from a website. I want to read certain parts of the sourcecode of the website, how would I do this?
I used a web browser to read the text from a certain website, but I hated because its kind of slow, especially if the website has images. Is there anyway to get rid of those images ? I just want to get all the text for whatever website I visit. For example let's say I want to read all the text for this forum [URL], how can I do that, and by the way I don't any Html codes or anything like that, I just want straight texts.
i want code for the following scenario my scenario is the word document must contain checkbox, and this word document should read to asp.net page, when user click the check box, the selected value should be stored into the database
I have an xml document similar to the what's below.I'm wondering how I can read the document and all of its child nodes.I want to only read the parent node called MYTYPES and disregard MYGRAPH. The code I am using reads the document but only prints out the parent node (Type1 and Type 2, in this example).How do i get all the child nodes, and their children. For example, i would like to print out:
Type 1: Clarion, 10. Pittsburgh, 20 Type 2: Trention, 10. Harrisburgh, 20 Try[code]....
I'm tryign to read a specific attribute from a xml website using this code:
'this is the url im trying to read, tmpIn is a string that complete the url: Dim url As String = "http://maps.google.com/maps/geo?q=" & tmpIn & "&output=xml" Dim reader As New XmlTextReader(url)
[Code]....
The problem is tmpIn takes diferents values (string) when the function is used and sometimes this works, and othertimes it gives an error (Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 9, position 15.), but is not because of the url, is when it tries to read the coordinates...
Well i hate Web browser, sometimes I use this code to check if the document completed and it stops there for ever.
PHP While MyBrowser.ReadyState <> WebBrowserReadyState.Complete Application.DoEvents() End While
Sometimes it stops on that code and I don't know why!!!So is there any other method to read a text from a website, or if the code i am using is wrong, whats the right one ? I use this code to check if the document completed loading.
in that form i have 1 button and 1 webbrowser but is there any way i can when the button is clicked.it takes some data from the website and duplicate all of the data so like if there is a integer on a website and its the number of the viewers on the websitecan vb take the data and duplicate with another number and show it in a label.
I have an app that uses ADO to read through an Excel document. The program ran great on XP-64, but now I'm on Windows 7-64.I've been reading all kinds of stuff on this, turning on IIS, and other things. All my settings seem to confirm a correct setup.
