His declaration is Declaration with Microsoft Visual Basic: [code]Now, the Sting * 20 is clearly not VB.NET, and sure enough it crashes when run - "Attempt to read or write in protected memory" and that leads me to think that there is something with that string definition - or possibly the I_Ref definition which hasn't been defined as fixed length.I've tried <VBFixedString(20)> when defining O_Err, but I have a feeling that it might not be enough when the function declaration is like that (not specifically fixed length). I cannot figure out how to specify this correctly.As a small hmmmm, the above is pasted directly from the suppliers documentation, but that't will never work, as there is a "," missing after I_Range as long... I am porting Excel VBA to VB.NET. I have a function that takes a selection of data, and it may be one dimensional or two. VBA code is quite fluid about using a variable as either a 1-D or 2-D array, but VB.NET marks it as an error.

The database only has TrackingNumber and Date. Below is the code. As of right now i get "Invalid attempt to read when no data is present." at the "If (sdr("TrackingNumber") IsNot Nothing) Then" line.

I though I had solved this problem, but it is back:Code generation for property 'SelectedPeople' failed. Error was: 'Type 'ECS.Entities.Persistency.Person' in Assembly 'ECS, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable.'The property on the error message is a List(Of Person) and for some reason it trigger this error, for almost anything I do, and its getting really anoying.Okanswering to the answers here is a little more information about the problem.
Yes it is during design time, it happens bascially anytime a open a form that has a UserControl that contains the Selected property in it, sometimes it happens even if I don't have focus on the form, also if I try to compile/run it happens and the message come in the form of a Message Box with just a OK, ECS.Entities.Persistency.Person is just a LINQ to SQL Generated Class, this should not matter at all to the problem, although I have added the attribute before the posting.he reason that this happens is because the Designer attempts to put the property on the Property Panel, and for that to happen, serialization happens.tryed to hide the property from the designer by using this attributes.

View 2 RepliesHow can I Convert a Unicode value to its equivalent string for example i have "రమెశ్" and i need a function that accepts this unicode value and returns a string I was looking at the System.Text.Encoding.Convert() function but that does not take in a Unicode value, it takes 2 encodings and a byte array. I bascially have a byte array that I need to save in a string field and then come back later and convert the string first back to a byte array. So i use ByteConverter.GetString(byteArray) to save the byte array to a string but can't get it back to a byte array.

T = time identifier
10:49:32.397 = hour min second milliseconds
-07:00 = I have no idea

As it should. What makes me curious is the error reported is
Conversion from string "String" to type 'Double' is not valid.
So, I guess my question is, why is the compiler attempting to convert to a Double when I would assume it should be converting to Integer?
Here's my code, it works but its not elegant --- can this be improved? The final multiplication is done for the Analog to Digital conversion (weight of the LSB).
