how to count the lines in textbox1.text (with multiplelines). I don't need to count each character. I only need to count each line from top to bottom in textbox1.text (multiplelines) and I will use Label1 to display the numbers.
example:
1-pauljaones
2-tommyperrry
3-marktoms
4-Jonessmith
5-paulwhite
Obviously this is 5 lines and that's what I need to count.
It's probably a long shot, but is there an add-in for VS2010 that can change VS2010's default formatting rules? In particular, I'd like to format similar lines so that the commas line up vertically, creating a tabular look. If it could line up equal signs, that'd be better still.In this case, I'm populating a dictionary with methods to translate a flat file into an object.

I'm using VB.NET, and I'm trying to write a program for the company I work for, that interacts with a database designed for logging web site email submissions (After a user fills out a form for a item request or comment sheet, the email the form sends gets logged so we can more easily see which site gets spammed more, and we keep a record of the actual spam). My program mainly just makes the data easier to read. When a line is biger than the size of the richtextbox, it wraps it. This create a big problem as I can not select the last line of the richtextbox (when a line is wrapped it becomes two lines). When I set wordwrap to off it works just fine

View 9 RepliesBasically, every time an entry is made - all of the proper data gets put out to a central Listings.txt file and then a specific .txt file for that area. When the user enters the recall form, they can view the listings for all or whichever area they've selected. That works quite fine. However! We also need to include a summary of how many are in each section. Not thinking properly, I started to do this with a counter - until I realized that a counter will lose its value once the program shuts down. My current idea is to count the number of lines in the text file (it outputs 8 lines per listing, so everything would be in values of 8) and then divide that by 8 - but after some searching I haven't been able to find a piece of code that will allow me to get an integer that relates to the amount of individual lines in the file.
