Creating Buttons Using A XML File?
Jan 27, 2009Im working on my school project (which is a control centre for a LAN gaming club).What i want to be able to do, is read an XML file, which contains details about the games (name, description, path etc), and produce a button for each game in the XML file. These buttons should allow the game to be launched, be named using the games name, and show the description in a designated area
I'm already able to write the game information to an XML file in another form, but have no clue where to start when reading the XML and creating the buttons.

Nov 2, 2009I am using MS Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2000 to develop an application. I wish to make a list of radio buttons when I fetch a particular column from a table. for example, I fire a query that returns to me 10 types of candies, (yummy!). I want to show these candies as options on the form. I want to use Radio Buttons. Now the number of candies are not fixed, it can be any number (less than 15-20). So I wish to dynamically create this 'Array of Radio Buttons' on the form.

this means that buttons are created in the code and not on the form to begin with, so I don't know how to create an event for the click of a button in a list. Is it possible to do it with a parameter for i so that there is only 1event for all buttons in the list, and i is the button index array clicked?

I want to be able to drag and drop and place these as well as the HTML component wherever I need on the form. In VB6 I simply selected what I needed and placed it with ease. Can someone tell me what I need to do gain this simple freedom in vb.net

Mar 3, 2012I have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

As you can see, when I open a program from my menu, a new button will be created with text similar to this, "C:Program ". The button it self will not do anything. How can I create the method at the same time the button it is for is created? Also how can I change the text do that it gives me, for example, CCleaner.exe instead of the whole target path?

Feb 5, 2010What I would like to do is to have four different buttons (e.g., buttonA, buttonB, buttonC and button D). I wanna give the following instruction to the people: press these buttons in the following order: first buttonA, then buttonB, then buttonC and last buttonD. If they obey this instruction then a picture will be displayed, for instance a happy face. All the other combinations will not activate this picture to be displayed, or in other words, there won't be any consequence. I would also like to save this data using windows note pad e.g., writeline (1, xxxxxx). Is there any chance I will make it?

then i need then to hide different buttons depending on which button was pressed. so say i pressed button 1 then all the buttons showed but alternativly if i had of pressed 2 then say button 5 and 6 disapear.managed to get one way to work but then i would only ever end up with the first results every time.

Jan 23, 2009I want to have a min and a max functionality to my app. When the user clicks the minimize button I want the form to go to taskbar which is easily done.
However the user clicks on the maximize button i want the form to go to a specific size (470,999) to be exact.

but it maximizes to the screen size. how to control the maximize screen button? I don't want to change the formborder style setting from sizeable because I like the way it looks like this. I just want to get the min max buttons to go to sizes that I want them to go to.
another thing is there a way to save the size of the app that the user has it set to before they send it to taskbar then when the user brings it off the taskbar is there a way to bring it back to that size?
