How would I add a new ToolStripItem with code, which will have a Click event which uses the text from the ToolStripItem to read a file? So the ToolStripItem most somehow send it's text to the Click event.

I have created a custom ToolStripProgressBar. It is basically a class inherited from ToolStripStatusLabel, and i paint the 'progress' bar myself (just a simple rectangle). I have tried creating a custom ToolStripProgressBar using different methods including inheriting from both ProgressBar, ToolStripProgressBar and ToolStripControlHost. I always ran into difficulties doing in this way. Inheriting from ToolStripStatusLabel works well, but with one issue...
In order to have the progress bar update in the statusbar, i have to call StatusStrip.Refresh. Trouble is, adds a huge overhead to the drawing of the progress bar graphics. Simply calling the invalidate method of my ToolStripStatusLabel does not seem to render anything to the screen. how to have my graphics draw without calling the refresh method?
Is it possible to add custom command in a shortcut (.lnk) menu (right button) through .net? How can i add the command and executed that command.?

I have now closed the windows application. A day later I open my windows application again. How do I view the recent files selected to my FILE menu? For example, I would expect to see "File 1", "File 2", and "File 3" under recent files. This would allow the user to easily reference the past recent files that were opened. Word and Excel have the feature and I am sure it can be done in VS2005.

I have a populated listview of say 100 image directories. of those 100 images, there are groups of 20-30 images. this number isn't always the same, but would be between 20-30 per group. the time stamp would be within 5 minutes on each grouping. how would I go about pulling the most recent only of the 100 or so images? the most recent within about 5 minutes on the time stamp.

I want to build a recent files list into my program.
The hiearchy I currently have is "MenuStrip>File>Recent Files>File1".
I have a function which saves the files and opens them. It also stores the file name and file path in sperate variables:

I would be able to change the text property of the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) to the SaveFileName easily, but how would I make it so that when you click the File1 (File1ToolStripItem) it opens the Savefile file?
I would also need the program to save this list so when I open the program again they are still there.
I am just wondering on how can i make a list of recent file opened on my program in vb.net. The recent files filenames must be in a linklabel in a form and in the menustrip.

View 2 RepliesAt design-time I have added the ToolStripItems to the ToolStripDropDownButton but I want to provide a Context Menu which has the same items but when I am adding the items to the ContextMenuStrip at runtime they are removed from the ToolStripDropDownButton and are only available to the ContextMenuStrip already, is it not possible to have them in both ToolStripDropDownButton and ContextMenuStrip?Rather than duplicating the menus I would have preferred utilizing them in both ToolStripDropDownButton and ContextMenuStrip.

I recently downloaded VB 2010 Express so i am quite new to the language, but i have worked with dark basic, which seems to b very similar.Anyway, my problem is that i cannot seem to correctly set out my array of a custom type/class. i am trying to create two arrays, one of available entities and another of selected entities of which the user selects the entities to be dealt with in irrelevant ways. i have creates a button (called test) which adds some entities to the available list and all the entities come back the same value but they shouldnt be as you'll c in the code. i have run the step into command a found that "available.item(#).Name = " will change all of the entity's names.As of current i am working with lists as the array kept asking for a 'new' statement but i couldnt figure out where to put it.[code]

I thought I could just add a unique handler for each of the ToolStripMenuItems and be a happy camper on each Right Click...But I cannot figure a way to decode the underlying DGV. There doesn't seem to be any relationships between DGV and TSM and none between CMS and TSM.Is this path a dead end? If so how should one do it? FYI my DGV data is unbounded.
