I need a connection string for connecting database. I have already used the connection string following.

I recently upgraded to developing on a 64bit windows 7 system from 32 bit xp. I am using VS2010, same install from the old system.My apps have always targeted a x86 systems If I change this to target x64 on my new system the app can no longer connect to my database (Progress).

View 13 RepliesI have an Entity Data Model with two entities in it "Roles" and "Users". There is a navigation property from I have a EntityDataSource and a GridView. The EntityDataSource points to the Users entity and has an Include="Roles" parameter.I've added a BoundField in the GridView that points to RoleName, a property of the entity Roles. However, when I execute the code I get the above error.I have used very similar code successfully in another application. Any ideas why this isn't working?

I have a label printer with the driver loaded with the settings in the driver set I can print the exact label that I want, I have the problem that I need to set the default settings in the driver when the software starts. there are 6 of these printers and the only problem we have found is that different operators like to change the settings.
What I need to do is to set the following commands in the driver so each time the system is started (daily) it loads the settings and works properly.
I need to set
Custom Commands Text, Start, Parsed Text
In the Advanced Setup, turn on use printer settings
Other settings would be usfull but as I cannot set these I do not think I will be able to set others.
I can currently set some of the commands eg,
DefaultPageSettings.PrinterSettings.Copies=2
I am looking for the standard source code for a keyboard. Is there any where that I can download this source code so that I can modify it for my own use?

I created a program that uses DPinst to install a driver and now I need to figure out how to tell the user that it is safe to close the program once the driver is install as the driver takes longer on some machines to install. Would anyone know how to get this to work?

I've created a data relation between state id on these tables. I'm setting up to combo boxes: cboAddreess, and cboState. I'd like cboState to change to the correct value when address changes.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to use ASP.NET MVC with older versions of IIS that have trouble with MVC's default routing. I found a suggestion to add .mvc.aspx to my routes. So instead of this:

What do I need to change in IIS and/or my MVC application to get the default page to work correctly?
NOTE: I tried adding RouteTable.Routes.RouteExistingFiles = True per this answer, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

View 3 RepliesI have XML files I am trying to read and import. I have XSD files and have used the XSD.exe tool to create classes for the elements found in the XML files. The problem I have having is that the same file structure can be used for different "message types" (different data structures for different purposes). Because of this, the structure of the file is roughly this:

Where the Order element is, it could be one of a few different element types in the message based on the message type. Currently, I'm trying to read an order file.The XSD tool created all the classes fine but it creates an 'Item' object for that inner element and makes it one of the other strong types during the deserialization, so I end up with something like:
Envelope.Messages(0).Item
Item is just an object and is not strongly typed until the deserialization happens. If I look at the data in Item in a watch window during debugging, it shows it is the strongly typed class and has all the data in the members I would expect to see, but I can't seem to access them by name or set an instance of the strongly typed Order class equal to the Item object. Any attempts I've made so far to read the data have resulted in the "No default member found for type 'Order'" error.
Im trying to set one variable equal to another but it says "No default member found for type 'Decimal'" what does that mean?Both the varuables are deciamls, one is a regular decimal that I declare in the sub and another is an array that I declare in the class. The line is:

I refreshed my data sources to include additional items from the SQL Server databases and it appears that my entire data source from my VB.NET project disappeared.I am using Entity Framework. I may have clicked on something wrong, not quite sure. Unfortunately I can't recreate the Data Source without creating a new Entity and Data Model.I can delete the entry in the App.Config file and recreated it, however things aren't quite right.Is there a way that I can recreate my Data Source from the entry that is in my App.Config file...since that appears to have remained intact.BTW, I can go to my Data Model and successfully refresh from there, however my project isn't connecting to the database so I have quite a number of errors until I can get reconnected.

Cases is the table, OfferDate a field of the table wich is DateTime type.

I'm using the Microsoft Excel Driver to import an Excel document into a adodb.recordset so that I can remove duplicate rows and put it into the SQL Server database.
The first column has values like 192, 13U, JJJ, etc. but for some reason the query casts it as a double value, and any rows with alpha values get converted to Null. From what I can tell this is because the Majority type is numeric instead of text.
I tried casting it, but got an error.

I have VB Application and VB dll. I am retrieving the data using MS ODBC and through VB application and passing it to VB dll. Dll is then processing the data and inserting the data into Oracle 10g database. Dll uses OraOledb driver. Now when i retrieve the data in my web-page which uses MS ODBC, it displays the data as garbled.

View 2 RepliesI'm trying to connect a VB application (2010) to an MS Access DB by adding a data source from the data menu but I receive this error message "The connection you selected uses a local data file that is not in the current project.Would you like to copy the file to your project and modify the connection ?
If you copy the data file to your project, it will be copied to the project's output directory each time you run the application" and the options are (yes , No , Help)
If I choose Yes I will not be able to make the application 'device independent ' since it will not be copied under the bin , and if I choose No , changes won't be applied to the DB
