I have a vb.net project that connects to a sql database.I have a form that contains a datagridview for the database.The database itself contains many different columns (e.g. customer name, serial number, cust phone number, current status)I am concerned about the current status column as it is needed to filter the records in the database. It has different values in each record, such as "Done" or "Waiting" or "Awaiting Collection" or "Damaged".
In VB.NET 2008 I've two forms 1 & 2 containing two datagridviews connected to two data source 'ACCESS 2007 tables' Now I want to select multiple rows from one datagridview (form1) & transferring these to another empty datagridview (form2) with a button_click.
I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.
I would like to know if there was a way to loop through all the checkboxes on a form and if the checkbox is checked then I need it to copy the text from the checkbox and the label. Thera are 23 of these labels with two checkboxes for each.I need to be able to paste this in notepad and have it formated as such
how to permanently save to text files then re-open all of the information again using SFD and OFD. Now my teacher has come back at me and said that i need to be able to save the information from multiple text boxes and have the text in certain labels to also be saved into the one text file (the labels need to be done because it is a database and these labels are like the fields and the right text box needs to match the right label)
I have a DataGridView (dgv) on a Windows form (VB.NET) which is bound to a datatable. One of the bound columns is a an ID (Foreign Key) to another datatable. All I want to do is Hide the ID column and populate an unbound column with the Name (ParmName) for the user. I searched the foreign value in the datatable and retrieved the information. I set the Value of the cell in the Datarow. All works well, but does not display. The cell accepts the value...I can even Debug.Print the values to the console. They are there just nothing displaying in DataGridView. Nothing odd about DataGridView. Should be straight forward...

I need to to able to save multiple text-boxes and a combo-box to a text file. the thing is, when I go to save, I check out the .txt file manually and its saved all in one line, no spaces. when I go to "read" it with the 2nd part (<-----this is a 2 part Challenge) it even reads all from that one line in the text file. What i'm asking is how can I make my text-boxes saved in the text file on different lines. [Code]
I'm fairly new to VB.NET, and I'm working on a text editor with a tabbed interface. I deal with large text files. Should I have each tab / text document open up in a new thread or a process? I basically want the entire application to always run fast as the text editor is just one part of it. If I have several large text files open I don't want the rest of the application slowing down a bit.

I have two problems with my datagridview in VB 2005 that I did not encounter in VB6. I would like to add multiple records to a datagridview by allowing the user to tab and type.When they get to the end of a record and tab it should go to the next record like Access does. The user can move to the next record and it even shows the pencil on the left leading them to believe that a new record is being created. But, it will not create the record unless they first click on my button that will add the record with the code BindingSource2.AddNew(). I use a bindingsource to populate the datagridview. Here are some snipits of my code for clarity:

I have a DataGridView that is being populated. What I'm trying to accomplish is when I select like 3 rows I click a button and it gives me the "row numbers" for those three rows.
I'm trying to sort multple colums in the DataGridView which is unbound. I would prefer to sort by using a DataTable/DataView but for some reason another developer in my team experienced other problems relating to sorting so he abandoned using the DataTable to fill the grid :(
Here is the senario: I want the user to be able to choose which columns they want sort on. The way I envisaged was to show a form with a listbox, a grid and 3 buttons (Add to sort, Remove from sort and Apply Sort).
The list box would be populated from the parent form grid column headings. The grid will show the columns and sort direction. Button 1 would add the selected item of the list box to the grid. Button 2 would remove from the grid the selected row. Button 3 would Apply the Sort in the order of the grid and the columns SortDirection.

I have 3 related tables in a DataSet - Customers, Products and Orders.I am trying to create an "editable" DataGridView which, ideally, will contain columns from all the tables. I have tried creating the joins in the TableAdapter SQL, but this results in a read-only data grid.
Customers and Orders are joined in a 1:M relationship by CUSTID.
Products and Orders are joined in a 1:M relationship by PRDID.
When the user adds a new Order record they will key the ORDERID, CUSTID, PRDID and QTY.I would like the DataGridView to display the related CUSNAM and PRDDES as soon as the user has keyed the Order record.The data must be displayed on a single data grid row. I have a windows applicatin built using vb.net 2005 - backend webservice that uses a sql db. I'm working on a form that contains a datagridview that I bound. My pic below to displays the outcome. I have a combination of dropdowns, textboxes, checkboxes, etc in the grid. I now need to add several filters and would like to know, what is the best approach:
1) adding the filters to the header row in the grid.
2) adding the filters outside of the grid as you can see i've started to do from looking at the pic?
I've been reading how it's possible to add them to the grid; but not sure if this is possible to do this when there are controls other than text boxes inside the grid.

I am attempting to read an XML and display certain portions of the XML in a datagridview. I was able to get one table at a time, but I am having trouble figuring out how to get ALL the info I want from the XML and not just one table at a time.

I have a DGV that is bound by an untyped Dataset. My select query consists of using 5 columns from 2 different tables. I fill a dataset with the results of the query. I assign the dataset to the DataSource of the DGV but don't assign the DataMember. The DGV doesn't populate, however, when I test the query it runs like it's supposed to

I'm using DGV to display data. I also have a DFVCheckboxColumn. If user checks a checkbox column the data from that row is transfered to database. i'm able to select multiple columns with pressing the CTRL key.But i wanna select multiple rows without pressing CTRL key. Can someone give me samplecode or guide me in this
