Quick question: I'm trying to parse dates in the following format to their equivalent DateTime data type, but for some reason it's failing. The string format is: 28/May/2009:17:43:04 +0000Or: dd/MMM/yyyy:hh:mm:ss zz00Here's the code I'm using:Dim provider As New CultureInfo("en-US")Dim d As DateTime = DateTime.ParseExact(value, "dd/MMM/yyyy:hh:mm:ss zz00", provider)
I get unexpected results when I use DateTime.ParseExact.
Here's my test code:
[code]...
It looks like it's because the day is systematically added by ParseExact even though I only specify the time in the format. My question is: How can I read just the time with DateTime.ParseExact?
I am getting an unexpected result parsing a string into a date string. Here is the code snippet I'm using to test: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I have a text string like this which I will need to parse: FriMar1200:00:00EST2010 And I used the following Date.ParseExact("FriMar1200:00:00EST2010", "dddMMMddHH:mm:sszzzyyyy", Nothing) And it is giving me a A first chance exception of type 'System.FormatException' occurred in mscorlib.dll error.
Im having an issue with a Stored Procedure I have written,I can call it in management studio and it works fine, yet calling it from my codebehind gives this error The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. when i call da.Fill(dt)What is really puzzling me here is that I dont actually convert anything from varchar to datetime, the most I do with the date variables is format them into a different datetime format.
My VB.Net code Private Function dbGetEvents(ByVal start As DateTime, ByVal days As Integer) As DataTable Dim dt As New DataTable()[code].....
I cant see where this error could be coming from, having tested running it in SQL management studio without error I am pretty sure the error is in the VB.My first thought was that maybe the parameter I am passing in the @start / @end values arent being recognised as DateTime so I tried adding the parameters like:
Dim p As New SqlParameter p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.DateTime p.ParameterName = "@start"[code]....
I'm trying to match a certain DateTime value with the current system DateTime. I have a timer and a label on a form. Timer interval is set to 1000. When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

datetime1 and datetime2now two fields are have data ( date )in table recordi want to update only datetime2 is an emptyi am using visual basic 2010 ( visual studio 2010
I try to compare Datetime. Now with a Datetime variable I set, using the Datetime.CompareTo() method. I use a timer to compare these every second and display the result, but as the current time approaches the time I set, the result changes from 1 to -1, but never 0, which means these two are never equal. I'm suspecting the Datetime structure contains milliseconds?
Assume the following program is started at 1:59:01 AM on 3/13/2011 in the United States. The first time Timer1 ticks what will be the value of the TimeSpan (ts)?
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Timer1_Tick(sender As System.Object, _ e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
I'm trying to add the date and time of Today into a Sql-database-field that has the datetype datetime.

the msgbox gives me the following result: 29/01/2011 18:49:21 my sqlException gives me the following error: 102 - Incorrect syntax near '18'. Is it better that i set the datatype to char in my sql database? It's maybe a bit easier? When I do that, can I calculate with these date?
I am using My.Computer.Network.UploadFile(arg1,arg2,username,pass) & sometimes it returns an error to me about not being logged in?I keep using IE & such to visit the ftp'd pages & even login & logoff the ftp site server at times, but seemingly randomly it will fail, even if I use try catch statement, it seems to keep wanting to fail till i go back to IE & go to a webpage on the server or log back in to the account management through IE.
Should it not be authenticating & working correctly each & every time regardless unless the server can't be reached? Why is it wanting to fail SOMETIMES when closing these webpages/logging out on IE only, why is this seeming to have any bearing on this failing in VB.
I have a series of WebRequests in my app all formatted like this
Try request.Timeout = 30000 ' Get the response and read it to the end [HTML of a page]
[Code]....
After roughly 250 iterations of about 5-6 WebRequest per iteration, the app hangs and starts hitting the WebException "The remote name could not be resolved: 'hostnamehere' ". WebPages also don't load through my browser when this happens, I have to close the app for my internet to work again. This app is multithreaded and I was testing with 100 threads (in a threadpool, MaxThreadCount set to 20, addressof the sub which performs the WebRequests). A test with 20 threads yielded identical results - Same WebException also right around 250 iterations processing the same sub. I have tried setting the ConnectionLimit of the request to the thread count with no luck.
I am using Web Application Deployment for publishing on IIS. At first I have converted my website to a web application. My application compiles and build fine on my VS2005. But when I try to run it via CC.net. It comes up with a 100's of errors. Following is the list of someof the errors that keep repating in the same file.
errorBC30284: function 'GetCannotChangeMessage' cannot be declared 'Overrides' because it does not override a function in a base class.errorBC30451: Name 'GetAndChangesCanBePerformed' is not declared.errorBC30456: 'GetStatusMessage' is not a member of 'Object'.
why my build is failing with these errors. As functions are overridable in base class and also names declared
Convert.ChangeType fails when converting from nullables. The internet solution appears to be first doing a check if the conversion type is a nullable. However, in my code the nullable check is failing:
Dim nulltype = GetType(Nullable(Of Double)) Debug.Print(nulltype.GetGenericTypeDefinition.Equals(GetType(Nullable))) This returns false for me and I don't understand why. The real-world situation is that the
I have a function (GetData) that parses a SQL string, makes a connection to a SQL Server and dumps the result to a DataTable. It works perfectly on a series of SQL calls I have. I have new query I have added and now the function balks at the adapter.Fill(table) call. I do not understand why the call fails. The SQL portion works fine when run directly against the SQL database (Management Studio). I am thinking the fuctions not capable of dealing with the subquery somehow, just not sure why.

I am trying to test for the existence of a file on a web server using the GetFileSize method.
When I use code I found at BOL, the code never finds the file. It always returns a 550 code.
Howver, if I preface the code with a Request to get a DirectoryDetail listing, then the GetFileSize method works fine.I must be opening something and not closing it. Whatever it is, is then available to the GetFileSize method. But I cannot figure this out.
I created a simple service that does some inventory and records the data to a MySQL server. The service starts just fine when told to from the services administration panel. However, it will not on computer bootup. I get the famous error.
The InventoryService service failed to start due to the following error:The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I've read that logs can be a problem, so I disabled the autolog...but that didn't solve any problems. I believe it has something to do with the user not already being logged in and attempting to connect to a remote database. So, I added a function to check for internet connectivity before executing any inventory methods or SQL queries. This did not fix it either.
EDIT: I also am receiving the following error in the administrative logs. I create the service dependant upon the Tcpip service, but it still fails.A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the InventoryService service to connect.
We have a legacy setup that creates pdf's on the fly based on client info. I can follow everything through where the process gathers the info and everything runs normally, until it gets to the doc.Form.FlattenFormFields then it goes in to limbo. I've captured the base64binary string and it tried to use that to convert to a pdf with no luck also.
I'm using the ASP.NET Membership provider and using the Password Recovery control to reset the user password if they forget it. On the whole it all works fine, but with one catch when it comes to validation.I have expanded the PasswordRecovery control out to use the template feature to customise the appearance, which is all fine. I have set the user lookup error handler using:
in the opening tag and if I load up the page, type in some junk name and click submit this fires as expected, in all browsers. The snippet of VB code makes an error div visible and sets some text. However, if upon loading the page for the first time I type a duff name into the username box and hit the enter key to submit the form, in Internet Explorer (version 8), the UserLookupError event fails to trigger. It triggers just fine in Chrome or Firefox, just not in IE. I know it's not a focus issue on the form, as I can see the form is being submitted. If I click the submit button first, then following that hit the enter key it does fire, it's just that first time it doesn't, and only in IE.Also to add that if I set breakpoints in the VB code to check to see if the page is being submitted, I can see the Page_Load event fire when I hit the enter key, but not the sub PasswordRecovery1_UserLookupError.
I am having problems calling a Com object that I created under Visual Studio 2005 with Standard ASP I registered it using regasm.exe.Below is my code (VB) . have tried creating the object two ways. What am I doing wrong ?
Server.CreateObject("TestCom2.TestFunction") and Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3' Server.CreateObject Failed
I'm using VS2008, targetting framework 3.5..Every time I reboot the PC, I open up Visual Studio, play with my code a bit, then hit F5 to debug it. I play around with my code some more, then debug again, and end up with the following problems:[code]The previous ten items in the error list are all Warnings, and they've all been in the project for forever, so I don't think they are the issue, here. What is the issue is that Visual Studio refuses delete/copy the XML file, and so will not run. I have to shut down the IDE to fix the issue.
I am having trouble with executing the setapprole stored procedure in VB.NET on a SQL server database. When in SQL Server Management Studio Express, if I connect to servernameinstance as MYUSER, I can create a new query on the MYDATABASE database in there, with these two lines[code]...
I have a generic list that I'm removing items out of using List.Remove(Object). I have been removing items but whenever I get to the fifth item I'm removing it fails and does not remove it from the list. It doesn't seem to matter what I'm removing but everytime I try to remove five items it fails on the fifth item.
And have been trying things, but haven't found how to get it fire. At run time when I look at the value of the @Appid paramter it has the first row's value so it doesn't appear to be that.
I've got a webservice called Converter.asmx and I've just noticed that on the remote server I basically can't connect to it. The error that I get: "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:49792" and the error occurs where I'm calling the web service (second line below).
Dim webservice As New localhost.Converter results.InnerHtml = webservice.ParseData(txtInput.InnerText, options)
On my localhost it works fine. How can I change the webservice so that it'll work on the remote host as well?
I am working on a Tag system for a news page designed in ASP.NET. For the system I require a TagExists method to check for tags within the database. The stored procedure I have written is below.
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[Tags_TagExists]( @Tag varchar(50)) AS BEGIN
[code]....
I have tried switching the procedure to return 0 if the tag exists and 1 if it does not and it still returns 0 despite the exact same testing conditions. I have also returned the actual select query and it has complained of the Tag "news" (my test item) not being an int on execution showing the select itself is definitely properly formed.
I've just been forced (by hurricane Irene) to shift from XP and Access 2003 to Windows 7 and Access 2010 with no time for testing or evaluating changes. All our databases are still Access 2000 format. Our offices were flooded and our servers got moved around, though they're all still named the same things, and in many cases things are working exactly the same. However, I have a database that I can't connect to.It's an Access front end that links to tables in an SQL Server 2005 back end. When I start up this particular database the first thing it does is fail when running code that had been put in to set up ODBC connections when one didn't exist on the computer that was trying to access the data.[code]I didn't write this code.
