DateTimePicker Incompatible With Column Expression Is SQL Query?
Dec 12, 2011
I have DateTimePicker, and when I execute this procedure:
Private Sub Button1_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Me.TextBox1.Text = Me.DateTimePicker1.Value
sqltest = "SELECT * FROM Table " & _
"WHERE TOT_DATE = '" & Me.DateTimePicker1.Text & "'"
datest = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sqltest, con)
datest.Fill(dstest, "datepickertab")
Me.DataGridView1.DataSource = dstest.Tables(0)
End Sub

Why does this:Private [Function] As Func(Of Double, String) = Function(ByRef z As Double) z.ToString
gives the following error:Nested function does not have a signature that is compatible with delegate String)'.
While this:Private [Function] As Func(Of Double, String) = Function(ByVal z As Double) z.ToString
Does not? (The difference is ByRef/ByVal)
Furthermore, how might I implement such a thing?

While looking in the dataset designer for a database table I am doing in visual basic 2008 I found a line for expressions under the property menu for a specific column. I need to know the code that I would put in this expression line so that this column adds up the numbers I input into three other columns and displays that number in the column. I need it to automatically calculate this for each row in the database table.

I am using the below Regular Expression which works fine in case of date validation. But if I select the date from the DatePicket even then it throws alert:Enter valid date. How can I modify the regular expression so as to be compatible with DatePicker.
Set RegularExpressionObject = New RegExp
With RegularExpressionObject
.Pattern = "^(((0?[1-9]|[12]d|3[01]).-/.-/?d{2}))|((0?[1-9]|[12]d|30).-/.-/?d{2}))|((0?[1-9]|1d|2[0-8])[.-/]0?2.-/?d{2}))|(29[.-/]0?2.-/?(0[48]|[2468][048]|[13579][26])|((16|[2468][048]|[3579][26])00)|00)))$"
.IgnoreCase = True
.Global = True
End With

How to use a DateTimePicker to query a database table. Basically, when a day is chosen on the DateTimePicker, I want all the database entries for that day to be populated on Datagridview. My Datetimepicker name is datetimepicker1. The datagridview name is dgv. The database table is called QCAuditing and the row in the database, that has timedate, which I want to use for query is called date. I was wondering if someone can point me to the right direction here.

What I have right now is this:
Dim users = From users In tempTable _
Distinct Select users.Item("s_userid")
Dim usersCount As Integer = users.Count
But I pretty sure I shouldn't have to do that. I should be able to get the count in/from that first linq query.

Of the 51 Standard Query Operators (of which only 42 are actually query operators), only 24 are directly supported by Visual Basic 9 and just 11 by C# 3: Query Expression Syntax for Standard Query Operators.In many cases, query syntax is arguably more readable than the equivalent method syntax, especially when transparent identifiers are involved. However, that readability breaks down if you have to combine queries and method calls.So the question: What query operators, current or hypothetical, would you like to have your language of choice support in query expression syntax?

I am using vb.net 2003 and accessing an Access 2002 database via oleDb and Jet 4.0.I am filling a set of text boxes with data from the database. The Connection, DataAdapter and DataSet are all set using the Wizard. The text boxes fill correctly with the first row of data. I then wished to filter the data so I went into the code and added a WHERE clause as follows:WHERE [Boat Name]=" & xid & "xid is the variable name given to the selected boat name. When I run the program I get the following error message:

I never thought it would be so complicated to add a few days to a date field as an expression lol...
I have a [addDate] field in my Access Database that the user will put in a number. So if they type 10 then that represents 10 days.
There is preferably a textbox that will display the starting date, this will be bound to another table. (I can make another field with this data, or date/time chooser, etc if necessary).
What I want to do is add a calculated field [newDate] to my datagridview that will add the number of days typed in the [addDate] field to the starting date in the textbox.
I've tried making fields for [originalDate] and [addDate] and tried using [originalDate] + [addDate] as an expression but that give me a debug crash error because the designer won't let me add a system.datetime to anything and if I keep them as strings, they just combine the text, and the date as a double obviously don't work either.

What I am about to do build is a UI that will allow a power user to build complex queries.
This is non-trivial, but very common. So before I re-invent the wheel, I would like to see if anybody can point me to some already-written free code or release some of their own.
Required:
To be able to specify some 'where-clause' type logic like this: Age>21 and (Citizen=True or HasGreeCard=True) but without having to type the query code, instead, use a UI with constrained options and on-the-fly syntax checking (e.g., no unclosed parenthesis or ending a term with an Operator).
I've seen this type of thing in many line-of-business apps, where you can say 'add condition' and another line appears on the UI like this:
Dropdown of fields Dropdown of ops (=, >, etc) Blank box for entry
And you can add more lines, and the lines are all and'ed, but you can also decide to OR a few, or insert parenthesis (explicity or via indenting), NOT a line, insert, delete, and move lines around, etc.
Not required but nice:
WPF - I could convert from winforms. Extensibility using OO constructs. Validate the sanity of the query. Emit a System.Linq.Expressions expression tree - or similar data structure. If it attempts to execute the query I don't need that; but I don't mind removing it.
