I have collected and created a lo of nice programs but after infected it was deleted by viruses and now i found the program which recovered from ntfs.
But the problem with that i can't decode my project codes.

I'm a networking student and hardware is my forte, but am required to do this VB Programming class and this particular project is just about got me ready to pull my hair out!I inputted this code verbatem from the text entitled, "Programming w/Microsoft Visual Basic 2008" by Diane Zak have double & triple checked & this is exactly as is printed in the book on pages 471-473.But it comes up with errors, and then we're supposed to modify this thing so it will accept any word up to 10 letters and only allow letters A-Z to be entered by player 2.But if the original code doesn't work, makes it pretty hard to modify it & make it work! Now if I use firefox (using Firebug) and go to the url http://www.facebook.com/blah.html, I get the expected 404 returned. However if I use my application to call the mvc route via an ajax call, I get 200. If I set the request object's AllowAutoRedirect to false, I get 302. I never get a 404. I am verifying this once again through Firebug.

Currently I have a textbox with some words and the program randomly removes five words and inserts 5 textboxes below the main textbox for the user to enter his or her answers. The goal of the program is to help the user memorize the text on the program. They can hit a button and new words can be removed and the original words will return. This is so that user is not entering the same answers over and over again.
What I've done is I have created a Listbox and I want the words that are removed to be listed in the Listbox so that the user will have a wordbank to use and I want it to work so that when the user hits the button for new words then the listbox will replace the old words with the new ones.

View 2 RepliesI've got 2 RTB one is for input of text and one is output.The output one needs to read the words from the input and display it alphabetically and with their line numbers.I have partly done it and it currently reads it but here is my problem When the words are outputted let say for example there are 2 words the same on the same line e.g the word 'you' appears twice on line one,at the moment its coming up like this

That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)

Using port monitoring and the DUMP command on the peripheral I was able to read the data and save to file. Now my challenge is decoding each line. I have a call to Server.URLEncode(string) from an old asp file that stores user input into a table. In this case it was a string of Chinese charters.
The actual data is :

I rewrote the code to vb.Net and after I get the data from the table, I call
HttpContext.Current.Server.UrlDecode(string) to decode the string, add it existing mark up for an email and send it on its way.
Note that with Visual Studio i can see the HTML markup as it appears in the email, and ALL of the Chinese data is EXACTLY as I would expect it.
When the emial is received i get "???????????" characters where there should be the Chinese characters.
What I do not understand:
What Server.URLEncode actually encodes the data to. It appears to be HEX.
What the array of "?" means in outlook or any other email system that opens it, I assume it means "Hey i cant convert this stuff, so here is a question mark for kicks, good luck."

View 10 RepliesThis is kind of a brain twister. First, what it involves. I'm writing an application that is working with values sent to and received from an 8 bit micro-controller. There are 8 bits of specified values. Here they are. bit1 = 1, bit2 = 2, bit3 = 4, bit4 = 8, bit5 = 16, bit6 = 32, bit7 = 64 and bit8 = 128.I made a routine that uses 8 checkboxes to add the values for sending them to the micro-controller. That wasn't too hard. In my appp there are 8 checkboxes. Each checkbox assigns one of the specific bit values to a variable (or subtracts it when unchecked). The total of the variable is then displayed in a textbox and ready to send.Now the hard part that ed to take any number between 0 and 255 apart in values that will be a combination of the numbers (1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128) above and show each checkbox which is assigned those numbers to be checked.
