End Result Of Combobox Selection Keep Showing Same Multiple End Result When There Is Only One Entry?
Dec 10, 2010I am currently having a headache on how to solve this problem that i am facing. here is the situation: I have a combobox and a list box on the main form. The combobox will get the data from the ms access database. In the database, i have the details of a person's IC, Name and DOB say for eg on one entry I have D215311523C,SHAWN,13/04/1987 So now, my combobox on form load will show the list of dates in the database to allow the user to search base on the date itself by clicking on the selected date. So when the user clicks on the particular date say 13/04/1987, people in the database whose birthday is 13/04/1987 will be shown on the listbox.Meaning to say if i have 3 entries whose dates are the same 13/04/1987, 3 entries will appear. If there is only two entry, then two results will be shown. But now, when i do a single click on the date, one result will be shown. That is correct. But the problem is when i click on the same date again, three of the same results will be shown on the list box. that is it will display : 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 which is not the case. Then it will show more duplicates of the same results if i click more times on the same date which should not be the case.

VS 2010 - Delay When Showing TabPage
Feb 20, 2011In my program I have a tab control with 4 tab pages. In the second tab page there is a lot of controls (about 50! includes buttons, labels, combo boxes, textboxes, option boxes). When user opens the program and want to navigate to tabpage 2 there is about 2-3 second delay showing tabpage. This problem only occur the first time, after that it just shows the page fine. I am not sure what is causing this lag but the program seems buggy and slow to user.

May 25, 2011Is there a way to show the value retrieved by an SQL statement in a message box? In context, my SQL statement searches my database to find a customer record that matches the details entered into the text boxes on the form, and retrieves the CustomerID. Is there a way to show this CustomerID in a message box?
The SQL code is:

i supposed it can show the result of count(ID), in this instant it is the number of records count on the OUTBOX so the debug.writeline is RESULT, instead of now it is showing "SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM OUTBOX"

Dec 21, 2009I know that time delays have been covered before around almost everywhere. however a method that forgoes forcing the GUI to become temporarily non-responsive, is all but a myth, or at least to my findings. i have the need for a GUI program to delay before the next command, however using the current method, detailed following, it causes the desired effect however it dose make it much less polished as when you click anything else on the GUI it goes un-responsive for the directed time. [Code] make a sub called say Tdelay( milseconds as integer) and have it run a loop as many times as the milseconds variable indicates and each time making the thread delay for 1 milsecond and then update the GUI/form in some way, then re-loop.

In first column the parameter values are entered and in the second column measured value is entered and in third column the nominal value is entered.Inthe fourth column the result is displayed by subtracting the measured value and nominal values. Basically what i wanna do is let the port parse the messages, fill in the array with the result at an empty spot in this array and then i will have a separate thread that will look in into this array in each non empty space and after it looks into the non empty space it will use or discard the info and also mark this space as empty (after it checked)

Apr 16, 2010I just read about DataSet in VB.NET, it uses disconnected concept. My question is: if my apps has "List All" button that query data from 1 table in the database, and that table has "very very very" many rows, so my DataSet will be filled with those data and eat up memory. Can I limit the data that being put to the DataSet from that query? But I want to be able to retrieve the next data from the same query if the user want to see it?
For example:
I have 1000 rows in my database, and i query all of them. But I just want 200 rows being inserted to my DataSet, but if the user want to see rows number 201 and so on, I want to be able to retrieve the next 200 rows, and so on. So it just like cutting those data into a group of 200 rows. Can I do this with the concept of "disconnected" of the DataSet?

Jun 22, 2010i'm developing an app where i'm reading a value from a device and putting it into a mysql db, i have setup a function where the vb will calculate whether the new value being read has changed by 3% from the last value and if it has run the mysql query. What i need to do it read the value into a variable, then a new value and compare the two with the % function, how do i read a value and maybe add a delay before reading the new value (and it being overwritten) and doing the calculation?

Dec 1, 2011I am dealing with a web application that includes VB.NET (UI) & VB6 middleware (DLLs).One of our installs, a Win 2003 Server/IIS 6 environment shows a 2 minute delay after the application login page.The application has been added to Trusted Sites & is not in a DMZ. It uses Forms authentication.
I am looking for ideas on what might be causing the delay. The code is difficult to access and I would like to leave that as a last resort. I realize it's not much to go on but I am hoping someone here has run into a similar problem.

My user control defines a ReportSource property but it will ultimately be the job of the page that calls the user control to assign that ReportSource property. How can I define the property in my user control without specifying a T? Btw, I tried (just for larks) to make the user control generic... That ended badly. public ReportSource<T> ReportSource {get; set;} (Note that I've tagged this as C# and VB.net... C# is my norm, but I'm having to deal w/ legacy.

Mar 14, 2012Now there's a user "A" who has 100 followers...now what i want to do is whenever user "A" submits an article in the website all his followers should get an email with the article link...that is okay i can do it.
Problem: Now, there's a submit button on the page which stores the article in the DB and sends email to the followers...as there are many followers it takes a lot of time sending the emails...so the page keeps showing loading msg till all the emails are sent..how can i send all the emails asynchronously ??
i mean after the article has been submitted ...the emails should go automatically to the followers without putting the email sending function in the click event of the button....hope am not confusing you folks.
can i do something like store the article in the DB , redirect to the article page , start sending emails in a batch of 10 per 10 mins automatically...this process should start as soon as an article has been submitted by an user.
