I'm working on an assignment where the program needs to calculate and display the total cost for shipping a package, based on weight and whether it is being shipped to Continental U.S., Alaska, or Hawaii. When I click the Calculate button, though, the label that is supposed to display the total is left blank. I've looked through this and tried placing the calculation in different parts/at the end of the "If" statements.
Dim decWeight As Decimal
Dim decTotalCost As Decimal
Dim decDestination As Decimal
I am currently having a headache on how to solve this problem that i am facing. here is the situation: I have a combobox and a list box on the main form. The combobox will get the data from the ms access database. In the database, i have the details of a person's IC, Name and DOB say for eg on one entry I have D215311523C,SHAWN,13/04/1987 So now, my combobox on form load will show the list of dates in the database to allow the user to search base on the date itself by clicking on the selected date. So when the user clicks on the particular date say 13/04/1987, people in the database whose birthday is 13/04/1987 will be shown on the listbox.Meaning to say if i have 3 entries whose dates are the same 13/04/1987, 3 entries will appear. If there is only two entry, then two results will be shown. But now, when i do a single click on the date, one result will be shown. That is correct. But the problem is when i click on the same date again, three of the same results will be shown on the list box. that is it will display : 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 13/04/1987 which is not the case. Then it will show more duplicates of the same results if i click more times on the same date which should not be the case.
Dim n As Integer Dim numbers() As Integer Dim StartFrom As Integer Dim EndAt As Integer
Dim L16, L23, L45, t As Double Dim LBase, LAdjacent, LOpposite As Double L16 = 20
[Code].....
Both equations should be equivalent: I've simply replaced L16 with LBase, L23 with LAdjacent and L45 with LOpposite. Yet the first equation outputs 3586 while the second outputs 3587.
Private Sub Button1_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim connectionString As String
[Code]....
I'm needing to do is to show in my messagebox.show the date from the sql query that I ran before this. I know that I havent declared a variable in that statement but I'm having a bit of a lapse today and was just wondering how to show that result in my messagebox.show.
I'm trying to show some concatenated data in a CheckedListBox so that users are able to select the data for use later on. Here is the code I am using currently:
Dim con As New MySqlConnection Dim theQuery As New MySqlCommand Dim theTables As New DataTable
Is there a way to show the value retrieved by an SQL statement in a message box? In context, my SQL statement searches my database to find a customer record that matches the details entered into the text boxes on the form, and retrieves the CustomerID. Is there a way to show this CustomerID in a message box?
The SQL code is: SELECT customerid from customer where cust_forename = @custforename and cust_surname = @custsurname and cust_house = @custhouse etc
Private Sub cmdLogin_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdLogin.Click Dim conn As MySqlConnection
[Code]....
i supposed it can show the result of count(ID), in this instant it is the number of records count on the OUTBOX so the debug.writeline is RESULT, instead of now it is showing "SELECT COUNT(ID) FROM OUTBOX"
I have the code as below: Dim xdTest As XDocument = XDocument.Load(GetXMLPath()) Dim objResult = From xe In xdTest.Elements("Some Element") _ Where xe.Element("strName").Value = strInput _ Select xe.Element("intValue").Value objResult. I cannot access any extension methods for objResult, like .ToList() or .First(). The file imports System.Linq and the project is targeted to .NET 3.5. How do I get the extension methods back?
I am trying to add 2 variables and the result to appear in a label. The case is that there is a platinum version of an album which costs more. The extra cost depends on the album so it varies. If the user wants to purchase an ordinary and a platinum album then I must add the two variables and the combined price to appear in a label. The normal and platinum prices appear fine when the other is zero but when I increase the quantity on both the label remains blank.I have an if statement like this:
If PriceNormal >0 and PricePlatinum = 0 Then lblPrice.text = PriceNormal.ToString("C") End If[code]......
how to say it. Im going to be making a program for my work, something for our CNC programmers to use for referencing machine code. Basically what i want is to have 2 combo boxes. One of them will have some letters, the other will have some numbers. If the user selects "X" in the one combo box and "54" in the other combo box, i want a label that will output "5221". The output is a given number, it will never change. Everytime that combination of of combo boxes have those things selected it will output "5221". So now my question is what is the best way to do this? My first instinct was a select case. Is this the best way to do it? I was also thinking about possibly using textboxes and having the user manually enter values instead of a combo box with some 60 numbers in it. I marked this as a discussion also, thinking it is more of a discussion than a question.
I need to add the contents (integers) of two textboxes and display the result in a label. I've been trying like this within a button click event: Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click TextBox1.Text + TextBox2.Text = Label.Text End Sub But it doesn't compile, and I dont know why. I've used arithmetic operators before, but now I'm just confused.
i have three text boxes that the user will input numerical data into to determine the area of an object. i need the result of my calculation to be displayed in a label but i cant figure it out.
I am trying to link a date produced from a month calendar to a three column data source . Col 1 is date and cols 2 and 3 hold password records for use on the selected date. I am able to have the selection from the month calendar produce a result into the label text but cannot see how to relate the date in col 1 back to the label. I am beginning in this world,
I have several buttons in my form and they each need to add, subtract, divide and multiply certain values together but I seem to be having problems with this. I didn't expect anything to go wrong and its probably a rookie mistake, but take my first calculation for example; a user must enter a value in a textbox (txtDays) and and also when one of my various radio buttons are pressed a value shows in a label (lblDailyHireCharge). I now need a way of multiplying these values to give me my answer shown in a label. I have done this by adding a button when which pressed multiplies the txtDays value with the lblDailyHireCharge and then shows it in the label, however it keeps on showing "0" when i click it.
Below is my code, I am basically saying that the value of both of those figures is intDuration and that lblDuration is where I want it to go when the button is clicked. Private Sub btnDuration_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDuration.Click Dim intdays As Integer Dim intDailyHireCharge As Integer Dim intDuration As Integer [Code] .....
I am trying to add a little functionality to my textboxes by making a label show when the values of the textbox are greater than a certain amount. The method is working, but only works on certain values (between >8 and 10) and I can't figure out why it won't work on values greater than 10.
Private Sub Submit1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Submit1.Click Dim sum As Double Try If hrs1.Text <> "" Then [Code] ..... I've also set the visibility of the labels to false in the onload event of the form.
In a project I am doing, I was hoping to show a listbox at the bottom of a label when I click the label so a number can be selected. I don't want to use a combobox or numericupdown because of the look. The problem I have, and I hope can be resolved is that when the listbox is shown, it is drawn under the other controls. Is it possible to show it over the others?
I would like to be able to return the text generated from an httphandler and insert it into my web page during an onload event. There are examples that show how to return an image by setting the image source to the path of the handler. But how do you do this for just text as in the "hello world" basic template. I would like the text value of a label on my page to be set to "hello world", preferably withour using javascript.
how do i read excel file at VB.net & display the result in a label or something..e.g i know cell A2 is a string of text - e.g Hello this is the P/L for the month i want grab that and put in a label etc.
I have Access 2007 db in which users insert some data (name, last name etc.). This db is for some problems in my work and every of this records needs some solution. When we solve this problem we come back to this record and select YES in yes/no field of db.I want to count inserted records and show it on first form of my application like this (label or text field, it is not important) :
* all records : 124 * solved records : 50 * not solved records : 74
It takes about a minute or 2 to run updatedata as it is doing multiple things to a database - when I execute this code, it stalls and loads the data, then when done I do get my label that says loading complete, but I never see the label before it is done loading to tell the user that it is processing. Is there any way to force it to show before UpdateData() is called so that it shows during the load time?
Im trying to make a Basic Program with a Progress Bar. Showing Visual Representation of a Percentage. I would like the Percentage to be shown as a decimal value as well. [Code] But since i do not know how to show decimal places i can not get this to create the correct value thus having a pointless progress bar and label. [Code]
I made a simple textbox with a submit button and a label and when you type in something into the textbox and hit the submit button what ever you typed in the submit button is suppose to show up in the label box but i type in DaFallenAngel in it and it only shows D why is it only showing D and not the full name? [code]
I got a string array & I need to show the contents of it to a single label. It acts like a clock. The thing is I tried with everything I could but I failed. This is the code I've been trying. Its in vb.net. And theres a thread running to slow down the loop so I can display the contents in a label for 2 seconds.
Dim j As Integer For j = 0 To readText.Length label.text=readText(j) Thread.Sleep(2000) Next
How do I show timer countdown to a text label in form? I have the following code set up:
[Code]...
What I'm trying to do is when I click button 1, timer start countdown from 15 sec. I want to be able to show this timer in sec and millisec in form in a text label so the user can see how much time they have left. (example: 12.56 sec remaining)

I have been using google but I can't find anything. I need to generate patterns a certain size 6 by 6 or similar such as something like a checkerboard but where the ^ symbols is there a suppose to be a blank space..
