The value or R1 on this case is 273.4 but it varies according with the result obtained so I can not allocate a constant number to r1. The problem is the result that I am getting is 4,55000000 instead of 4.5566666
When a user clicks the + button on the binding navigator, I want to set the displayed item of acombobox to the value displayed in a label. The combobox is bound to a field in the table. Theproblemis that when the user clicks to add a new record the combobox is cleared and they forget to select a value before they click save.

I've a very simple situation, which of course I can overcome with logic, but is there a built in VB function to ensure the following:
Dim price
Dim subsidy
if price - subsidy <= 0 then
price = 0
end if
In practical terms, I've lots of other things going on to calculate price, so I want to simplify this to:
Dim price = calculatedPrice - subsidy
and wrap that into some VB formating that ensures if price ever becomes negative it's forced to zero.
I'm thinking that a simple "Type" conversion might do it, but am not sure which type would suit.
I got a problem with my calculation .The problem is after addition and subtraction calculation I only get result or answer 0, .There are not a correct answer. I try to change the datatype of the variable to decimal and double but answer is still 0.

I am using the WebBrowser control with VB.Net (2010 Express) to get exchange rates from ft.com. (Note: I realise that there are simpler ways of getting exchange rates, but it is a learning exercise as much as anything else). I am navigating to a webpage, setting the values of a textbox and two listboxes, and then trying to get the resulting exchange rate which will be displayed as text. Trouble is, the result is not being displayed. I probably need to trigger an event to force the page to update, but I have tried this and it hasn't worked. [code] The 'onchange' event is intended to trigger an update, but it doesn't. I have tried a few variations without success (including "invokeMember"). So at the moment the amount and the to/from currencies are correctly set on the page, but the resulting rate is not shown.

First player 1 goes you try to make a straight(1-5/2-6) in the least amount of rolls due to my roll counter. Checking a box saves the "roll". Once player 1 has their straight player 2 starts.I am trying to save a value from my counter for comparison between the 2 players in my dice game and then display which player won and display the saved value.
Also is there a way to clean up my code with all the boolean statements could i string them all to = a variable and just use that say dice1.checked & dice2.checked = dicesave? Or could I create a variable in a private sub() then just use that variable?

I have designed a windows form(to act as a messagebox) with Label and OK, Cancel buttons. I'm on form1 and call this messagebox form in the closing event. If I debug the showdialog of the messagebox form the custom text is displayed on the Label, however if the application is minimized and when i right click on the application in taskbar and select close window then the messagebox form is poped up however the label doesn't show the custom text.

I am trying to add 2 variables and the result to appear in a label.The case is that there is a platinum version of an album which costs more. The extra cost depends on the album so it varies.If the user wants to purchase an ordinary and a platinum album then I must add the two variables and the combined price to appear in a label. how to say it. Im going to be making a program for my work, something for our CNC programmers to use for referencing machine code. Basically what i want is to have 2 combo boxes. One of them will have some letters, the other will have some numbers. If the user selects "X" in the one combo box and "54" in the other combo box, i want a label that will output "5221". The output is a given number, it will never change. Everytime that combination of of combo boxes have those things selected it will output "5221". So now my question is what is the best way to do this? My first instinct was a select case. Is this the best way to do it? I was also thinking about possibly using textboxes and having the user manually enter values instead of a combo box with some 60 numbers in it. I marked this as a discussion also, thinking it is more of a discussion than a question.

There are examples that show how to return an image by setting the image source to the path of the handler. But how do you do this for just text as in the "hello world" basic template. I'm using VB08. I've populated a listbox with numbers and I want to add all those numbers together and display the result in a Label. I've heard about using parse but I don't understand exactly how it works.

When I run it, nothing happens. My "For Each" statement I'm not sure if it's doing what I think it's doing. I can't believe I spent 6 hours banging my head against the wall but I finally got it figured out.

I'm working on an assignment where the program needs to calculate and display the total cost for shipping a package, based on weight and whether it is being shipped to Continental U.S., Alaska, or Hawaii. When I click the Calculate button, though, the label that is supposed to display the total is left blank.
