Delete Last String In A Text File?

I am trying to delete the last line of a text file, then append new text to the end - The problem I have is that the code I have is set up to search for an Index, not a String, or the EOF line - I tried to modify it to search for the end string in the file, but that didn't work, either - Here's what I have:

I have the first part done, ... I can delete all the text before spacific text, ... now I need to delete all text after a spacific point in a string of text.
I'm making a better, and more simpler BandWidth Monitor, and I'm extracting the Bytes Recieved, ... but just the value, and leaving out all the rest of the text.

it was regarding in vb.net text operations, i want to replace the text by finding some particular text.but the problem arises when the starting and the at the end delimiter of the string is something same every-time but middle thing keeps on changing so how can i work out with that?? str = Replace(str, "abcdparameter = xyz123;", "abcdarameter = my defined parameter;")
i tried to learn some regular expressions but i am not able to get that.the xyz 123 is same every-time....and also there is one delimiter at the end of the parameter string so anyhow you can select the whole line and replace it.

What i want is if the user select the transaction from the listview and press the DELETE button it must be able to delete the transaction from listview and text file(temporary log file) which i keep all the transaction record. Trying to write to a text file using GetAsyncKeyState in user32, the only issue that I am having is when I press the backspace I get the ansi code character, but this is not what I want. I want it to really backspace, I know its doing this since that is how I coded it.

I am working on a program with a list box that displays text from a selected text file. I have already made it to delete the item from the listbox but I don't know how to get it to delete that same line from the text file so it doesn't just display it again when you reopen the dialog. Any help? I am using streamwriter and streamreader.

I ran into a problem trying to delete certain text files. 99% of the time everything works fine but every once in a while I get a problem trying to delete certain text files. The exception thrown has a lot to say so here's a screen shot of it. :

I've seen posts on deleting the lines from a text file that are specified as a function parameter, but I only need to delete the first and last lines from the file.
I'm still a newbie when it comes to working in files, but it seems that it should be simple to delete the first line... Just delete all text from BOF to the first CrLf character. Am I right?
As for the last line, I understand that I'll have to get a count of the lines in the text file to find it (as the file won't always be x amount of lines long).

I have a text file containing lines of data (File 1). I need to delete all the lines in another text file (File 2), which are found in file 1.So I could read file 2 line by line. And then once the line has been read, read file 1 line by line to search for a match. But that's going to be painfully slow.Or I could read file 2 into memory. And then read file 1 line by line and REPLACE the lines in file 2 with nothing, therefore deleting them. File 2 could be 100 mb, so I'm not sure about reading it all into memory.

I've got an application that passes commands to a terminal window and saves all the output to a text file Here is one of the commands my application passes to the terminal

The output of which is
"HostA has address Y.Y.Y.Y"
