Oct 21, 2010I am using Streamreader to read a text file containing data such as the following:
IN;SC;PU;PU;SP1;LT;VS10
IN;SC;PU;PU;SP1;LT;VS10
PW5;PU4179,27448;PD4179,29951;PD3244,29951;PD3244,30286;PD5494,30286;PD5494,29951;PD4555,29951;PD4555,27448;PD4179,27448;
The final goal is to use the numbers next to the PU and PD characters to perform specific calculations.
Essentially, I think the code needs to do the following:
1. Read each block of characters ending in a ";"
2. If the block commences with anything other than PU or PD, discard it
3. Extract the numbers in such a way that calculations can be performed. The following is an example:

Essentially, there will be hundreds of these rows and I will need to sum up the deltas so that a specific formula can be applied.
I have tried doing this a number of ways but each seem very inefficient (using text boxes to store/swap data and creating additinal text files are 2 methods I have tried) and so I'm looking for some direction.

Jul 30, 2010How would i delete only the successful inserted rows for insert and then move the non successful rows up and allow the user to correct the data and get it ready for an insert. If i dont delete the successful rows then i will have multiple inserts of the same dataRow and we dont want that! AND if i dont move the data up then it will have blank rows uptop and will end the try and not insert the corrected data. You can better see what logic i am trying to perform at the bottom of my code, right after I insert into the database. Here is my code.

May 26, 2008I am looping through a file and I am populating a datagridview with values. I have this part done, and it works just fine. My problem comes in when I try to remove duplicate rows from the DataGridView. I would like the code to increment a cell if a duplicate row is found and then remove the duplicate cell. For instance if the program comes across 2 instances of "duplicated value" in the DateGridView, I would like the second instance to be removed and then a value of 1 added to the first instances row, 4th column. I understand most of it, but I just can't get the darn loop(s) working correctly. Iguess my theory is to compare the first row to the last row. if there is a duplicate, then remove the duplicate and add "1".Then I should move onto the next item from the top. This would loop until all items have been checked. I have been messing with this for a while now and I just keeps getting worse.

I'm trying to use LINQ to identify if there are more than one of any type of product. In SQL, this would work something like:
SELECT Product FROM SOME_TABLE HAVING COUNT(*) > 1
I can't for the life of me work out how to do this in LINQ. I was following someone who did something like this:

Aug 16, 2010I am reading a textfile and extracting information from each line. For example string1 and string2. I am then writing these string to a datatable.
However, sometimes there will be repeats in string1 and string2.
If there are repeated lines I would like to be able to delete the repeating line and add a counter to find the total number of repeating lines.
so if a string repeates 3 times I would like there to be a column with a 3 displayed next to the line in my datatable.

Apr 28, 2010I currently have a sql database linked to vb.net and I'm populating the comboboxes using SELECT statements. However, I'm getting duplicate records in the comboboxes.I have my database setup as 1 project to many submittals and 1 submittal to many items.
I have 3 projects in my sample dataset and I'll recieve 3 duplicate submittals and 3 duplicate items.
If I have 6 projects in my sample dataset than I'll get 6 duplicate submittals and 6 duplicate items.
I've tried adding distinct to my SQL statement, but that didn't do anything. Is there any reason why its showing as many duplicates as I have projects?
