Sep 15, 2009I am trying to write login page code for the login button but can't find how to find a string in a .txt file. The only code I have managed to find on the subject is opening up the text file with the
FileOpen(1, "File location", OpenMode.Output) code, but even this would be best removed as it would open the text file containing all usernames and passwords within the file.I need the system to search for a specific string within a file ( Usernames___Passwords.txt (159bytes)Number of downloads: 134), and with that string find the password associated with it (in my attached example the letters/words after the apostrophe) but stopping at the end of the line.

May 19, 2012First it might sound like an ordinary task but keep reading it isn't. I can't figure out how to find a phrase in a text file, and replace it with something else. Tried lots of things but always ending up with empty hands.
Suppose there's a text file in this order:
valueabc=6000.0000
valuettt=200.0000
valuexyz=7000.0000
I want to;
1) Find the phrase (e.g. valueabc) by scanning the whole text,
2) Replace the number that starts after "=" and ends before ".", namely "6000" in the middle with any number value i want.
I don't need the parts before "=" and after ".", only the number in the middle.

Sep 27, 2009I am adding line entries in a .ini file. The problem is, I am creating duplicate lines in the file, which I do not want to do. I searched this issue online, and the consensus is to use an array, loop through for duplicates and create a new file. However, being so new at this and teaching myself how to code no less, I am at a dead end. This is not a school project, it is something I am doing for work on my own time. I have all of my code done for the program except for this last step.

In the text - I'm embedding "Tags" or "Labels" for certain sections. These tags will be used so that I can pull text out of this one string and then break it down into parts. How would I go about doing something like this? Each "tag" will begin with the tag name in square parenthesis and end with /name in parenthesis.[code]...

Aug 15, 2011I have been looking for examples to find the string between two strings. This top one works fine;

Now the first one is fine - Ext_Volume is result of the string between the strings <Volume> and </Volume>. <Volume> and </Volume> are unique so this is straight forward.
However the second one - "^FDExp:" is unique, but "^FS" is not unique. There are occurances of "^FS" before and after "^FDExp:".
How do I get the string to search AFTER the occurrence, not before etc?

I want to read the whole file, and split the colums so each set of numbers is put into an array to be used as an input for later. If the text file only contains one line of numbers like 00100 25690 21586, I have written a code to seperate those and put them into an array which is attached. If the text file contains more than one row of numbers I can read the whole file in line by line but I can't get the strings seperated.

May 25, 2011I have a tab delimited .txt file, I am reading successfully. Reading first line and split into array. Through the loop I am checking the duplicate column name.
Now I want, if duplicated word found, how can I replace the second one. Suppose my file contains

I want to replace second Cell ID to Cell ID_2.

Mar 11, 2010All I am doing is reading each txt file I find in a directory and finding certain strings in the text then counting how many I find in each file and then once each file has its separate counts it send it to a sql database. I have most of it done, but I cant seem to get the count to separate each file so my problem now is that it counts the first file but when it counts the next file it adds to the first file and so on through all the files

Feb 22, 2009I am trying to parse a very large text file for certain strings. The text file is part of a level-making software for an old game I play. The text file basically contains all the information the level designer software needs, but the only important bit is the 'texture information'. Basically what I'm trying to create is a little program that parses the text files and shows the user a list of every texture in that text file. The problem is, the strings denoting textures are not really easy to find, and I can't think of any sensible and fast way to get them...

Sep 22, 2011I've got my self in to a pickle here.I'm trying to do something I used to do in basic? At-least I think you can do this in Basic, you know Qbasic,What I'm trying to do is put 4-8 strings on to one line separated by a comma.Example might be:

I know how to create a source to get the strings from the text file using ReadLine method, but I have no idea how to split the strings in the text file by on the third commas and ignore the other strings while select with the matched strings on the listbox for each row.Here it is an example listbox Here it is an example items on the listbox
random item 1
random item 2
random item 3
random item 4
random item 5
And here it is an example text file.
example strings one, any strings 1, any random strings 1, other strings 1, final end of strings 1

The listbox is display the list of an example items, so if I select the "random item 1" item on the listbox, it read the strings through in the text file on the first line to get the strings on the third commas in the same line which it is (any random strings 1) to split it while ignore the other strings (other strings 1, final end of strings 1) that come fourth and fifth commas. So, if I select the "random item 2" item on the listbox, it read the the strings through in the text file on the second line to get the strings on the third commas in the same line which it is (any random strings 2) to split it while ignore the other strings (other strings 2, final end of strings 2) that come fourth and fifth commas and so on...That is what I am trying to achieve by select the each listbox item to get the correct strings for each line in the text file that come on the third commas while to ignore the other strings.

Feb 15, 2012I have a program that can save user's input into a text file and load it back, but whenever I try to open the file and exit without selecting the file I get an error.(if i select the file and open it i don't get any errors).

Jan 3, 2012I have a little question about txt-files...This is the case: I am going to make a small software for editing particular parts in text files, so you don't have to do it by hand. In this program, i need to find several words in a text file and retrieve the text or number that is after the the "="-sign, and then replace that info. Then, I want to use the information it retrieves to add some text in the end of the file.
P.S. There are 36 differet words to search for, and some of them will occur in several places, so i want the data from those words that occur several times in an array. And the data i want to retrieve is AFTER the searchword and a "=", so i dont want the searchword or the equals-sign included. Can someone explain to me how to do this?
