I've a question to ask about what kind of the vb.net command suitable to use apply to get the duplicate serial number in notepad?

I have a program where you have three entries, CD name, artist, price and it goes into a listbox and .txt file when closing. I have to have a message box if you enter the same CD name. I have a code to open the .txt file and compare strings but I need to change it to compare only the CD name and not all three entries. Is there a way to do my string compare against my listbox without opening the .txt file?? The program loads the listbox from the .txt file when opening. I have 50 Texboxes.
I need to count the number of duplicate entries, and provide a summary (count) for each product code. This makes it easier when the order needs to be placed, and the user don't have to count each value manually.
I have tried looping through all 50 boxes to no avail. This seemed easy, but, clearly I am to thick to think of a solution.
The following solution should allow the user to enter 'colors' to a combo box; however, if the color is already entered (in an upper, lower case or mixed case format), then the 'Duplicate Color' message should be displayed. My program is half a formulator, and half ordering system. Where I get stuck is the ordering system part. In one screen I have 5 check boxes that you can check for which products you want to order. The products you checked then get sent to another screen and put into a list box with a quantity variable that starts at 1 attached to it. Now, if you check the same product again, another time through the program, as of now, quantity accumulates to 2, which is good, that's what I want. My problem is I want quantity to keep accumulating, right now it accumulates to 2, then on a third pass through the program,it duplicates the entry, so now in the list box has the original product and quantity of 2, and another entry that has the product with quantity of 2. 't quite understand how they work. Here's the code:

I have a tab delimited .txt file, I am reading successfully. Reading first line and split into array. Through the loop I am checking the duplicate column name.

I don't know enough about VB.Net (2008, Express Edition) yet, so I wanted to ask if there were a better way to find files with different names but the same contents, ie. duplicates.In the following code, I use GetFiles() to retrieve all the files in a given directory, and for each file, use MD5 to hash its contents, check if this value already lives in a dictionary: If yes, it's a duplicate and I'll delete it; If not, I add this filename/hashvalue into the dictionary for later:[code]Is this a good way to solve the issue of finding duplicates, or is there a better way I should know about?

I managed to get this working by myself using the 'SQL Pane' in VB and testing it by using execute sql but I don't know what to do now. I assumed that I could just save it and it would work from there but that's not the case, it dissapears from the SQL Pane if I close the project (even though it worked fine when I ran the project the first time), so where do I put it/what do I do with it in order to get this to work?

When I tried to check this feature in Microsoft Office applications, there is no problem at all. It's mysterious, I don't know what happen. I am using the following code to run defrag and to analyze if the C: drive requires defragmentation:

This process runs through analyzing, runs it in normal mode & prints the progress to the command window.
My problem is that as soon as the process is complete the command window closes. I need it to stay open so that I can read the results.

View 3 RepliesI am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.
