It worked perfectly, all ive done to my code since is change the way the listboc is loaded / saved, it now comes from a .txt in My Documents rather than the C drive.
It now only deleted the top value of the group selected int he listbox and not all of them as it did before.
I have been working on software that finds a specific backup file type and lists it in a list box. Then the user selects the files he/she wants to delete. Then clicks the delete button to remove the files.I have everything finished and working excpet for deleting the actual file. I figured out the code to delete the actual list item... but I cannot figure out how to get the selected file to be deleted within its directory as well... been at it for 4 hours now.
View 4 RepliesI'm writing a email program and i need to make it so that when I delete a item from a listbox it also deletes from a text file. Right now all it does is delete it from the listbox and when the program is reloaded its still there.

I am trying to delete an item from a text file based on if an item appears in a listbox but keep getting an error " Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection." The line it is returning the error on is the the first IF statement of the below text.

I am using VB.NET (version 2008). I have two types of items populating in a listbox (checked listbox). For example: lets say one is type "A" and other is "Type B". Their names maybe same so if the user sees those items in listbox then he won;t be able to determine their type until he click on them and checks out its properties. I wanted that I add each item to listbox and colour them so that blue for example means type "A" is there and red means the other. So this way I will be able to know at a glance that how many item of what type is present. I guess it may not be possible to do that in a standard checkedlistbox. I am also using component factory's krypton controls which enhance the gui of an application. But I dunno if I can progress using that.

Ok here we go again, im a complete beginner to coding and have started with visual studio 2008 using the .net/vb libraries, as my first project i went with an emulation application, and it went great:So now i think its time to move onto a little more advanced tech's, so i added in a combo box and i want to change how my code works, and this is where my troubles are.To start of with the combo box, i have it added to my winform and have 3 items on it 'Action' 'RPG' and 'Sim' and i have made 3 .txt files in the projects root folder with the same names. What i want to have happen is when the user selects for instance 'RPG' from the combo box the items displayed in the listbox change to the contents of the rpg.txt file. I'm busy with a project in Visual Basic 2010. I have a "Save" button in my form. I want to make sure that when a user clicks that button a SaveFileDialog should pop up. The user then types a name for the file and the file is then saved as a text file.

I want to append a text file with items from a listbox. I tried to search for a code to do that, but couldn't find anything(most likely I don't know what I am looking for). But I wrote this code and got it to work, but after looking at the code, it looks sloppy and I'm sure could have bugs I didn't catch....my question is, is there a better code than the one I made, or will my code work fine. I've been trying to figure out how to do this correctly for some time now, and I have seen no insight. I'm trying to successfully save all of the items in a listbox without saving items that are not there. What I mean by saving items that are not there is when it saves, it seems that blanks magically appear in the text file.Here is a sample of my current code to save.

I set a break point to look at my codes process and I see a weird situation:

I see intDDL is 2 and My app goes in to codes1 and codes3, it should just go to codes1.And I remove intDDL = ddl.SelectedIndex from codes, then intDDL will not be assigned any value, but I still see intDDL = 2 in there and step to codes1 and codes3. Application should pop up an error message say null reference!

My program takes a checkboxed item and depending on the serial number that is present on the item on the invoice, subtracts one from the amount list I have the following in a listview on a details page which I added with the following code:
Item - Low Socks(pink)
Serial # - 34-75-860
Price - 5.89

Right now it doesn't look like it does anything. I have tried changing my index's on my subitems to 1 and 3 instead of 0 and 2 but i figured because they are subitems that they need to be subitem index 0 and subitem index 2 since there is one item and three subitems to that one item.

I want to take this invoice and every time I check the item it removes one of those from another list i created called item details. I added items to this list using the item collection in the listbox.. I have invoice one that has a pink sock ordered. when i clicked this box next to it I want my total pink socks of 12 to move down to 11... the detail page and the invoice are two separate pages.
