This is a simple question, I am VB beginner. I was just wondering how I can disable the Delete Key on a form. Its simple question. I just want it completely disabled, preferably when the form is loaded.

How can i capture CTRL-ALT-DELETE key when pressed together so as not to go to the task manager, in short I want to disable any function when the three keys is pressed. I tried to use the keydown event , detecting the three keys when pressed then set e.handled = true, but still it wont work

I have a login screen (frmLoginScreen) which links to a main menu (frmMainMenu) then to another form (frmUserDetails). Their are two possible usernames. The first one the user logs in as Admin and the password is 4321, then the second one is Guest and no password. This is the code I have so far:

How can I disable the parent form when I call a child form?This code doesn't disable the parent form like I thought it would:

my application have a main form. i have set the isMDIcontainer to true on the form properties. How do i set other forms to child form of the parent. i need to do this because the other forms start position is CenterParent.but as it is now when i run the program the other forms start position is not the parent form centre.Secondly, how do i disable the parent form when a child form is on display. so that user cannot click on the parent form until the child form is closed.

View 1 Replieson one of my form, if user press a button then it sync data with another database and it takes time. i show a hidden group box on form which show progress bar of processing. during this process i want to disable all the controls of the form so that user not able to do anything form until process if finished.because most control on the form has validation and if i do me.enabled = false, it disable the control but still use can click on any of text box and then depending on validation event get fired.in a nutshell, want to disable any kind of activity on form.
View 16 RepliesI need to disable every control on my Form so that the user can not click or press any key that will change values of listboxes and other controls on the form. I need to be able to lock the whole Form like this because as part of the project I have to print the form 3times with 3 different colors and the only way I've been able to get it to work is with a timer. So for about 3 seconds the form is changing colors and printing itself, so in between that time the user could accidantely click something and change a value on the form when all three prints should be of the same form, only difference is in the color.I can't use disable as that will make all the controls look faded and messed up, I need a clean way to prevent anything from being changed.

What I want is during login process i want the MDI frm Menu strip to be disabled and can only be enbaled after succesful login. The login form is base on a table that I created with username and password and is working find. View 5 RepliesI had a form (says form A)with control on it, 2 buttons with text "View Process Flow"(Button1) and "Manual trigger Process"(Button2). Both button will load and shows Form A in Panel1 in Form1, but button1 will let user to see the action but block them on clicking on it, button2 will let User see and clickon the control.
In other software, I can use a transparency button or form block User by acess formA(so, they can see,but not click), But VB2008 transparentcy option kind of idiot(Or i dont know how to use it?)seem it just change the control back color to parent's backcolor(totaly useless, and the "tranparen key" as well)
I cant disable control cause it will stop the animation, only ways i can think off is add in a IF statement in every button, so it will do nothing when viewing = true.

Another Situation is:A form with a gridview and a button.I got a hotkey that when press, handles a gridview getfocus event.
The problem is that the gridview is still making its instance and when press the hotkey, it activates the getfocus property of that gridview(which is still creating its instance).

I have a form that the user must enter some important information and the only way of leaving of that form is to enter the correct info. By mistake I close that form from the X on the upper right side realizing that my code restrictions on that form was not enough. How can I disable close (X) of that form? I checked the form properties but I couldn't find anything about that just to disable maximize and minimize.
View 7 Repliesi created 1 mdi parent form as frmMDI and 3 child forms as frmMainChild, frmChild2 and frmChild3. When the frmMDI is loaded, it will call the frmMainChild and set it to maximize. At here, i treat the frmMainChild as the base form of my application. in the frmMainChild, i can call other forms like frmChild2 and so on.
and now, my problems are: 1. how to disable the frmMainChild to be resized, restored? i just want to make it maximized only. 2. when i call the other child forms from frmMainChild, i notice that it always maximize the child form. can i make the child form to be in normal window state?
