Disable A Timer - Will Finish The Process And Then Disable Or Will It Immediately Disable Without Completing Process?

Dec 22, 2011

I am confused what will happen, when I disable a timer. Will it finish the process and then disable or will it immediately disable without completing process? for example

[Code]....

I want to run getMessage from somewhere else, so I need to disable timer during that time to be asured not to override anything and also before timer disable it should complete that function code.

C# - WebBrowser Control: Disable Cross Site XSS Filtering Or Another Way To Process JS In Full On HTML?

Jun 25, 2011

I am trying to use my web browser control to get retrieve date from a specific page, including all sub-page content. Problem is some of the sub-pages are on a separate domain and thus I am getting a permission deigned error when i try to access the frame [through document.windows.frames(i).document].Is there any work around to do this, even if I have to manually change security settings? I tried turning all my settings in IE to allow and still same error. I will only be running the app locally and no one will be browsing on IE so I can literally change anything needed to get this to work (even install older version of IE which may allow it but can still handle JS processing).

Note the reason I am using web browser is a great majority of data I will be accessing is JS generated, so I need to access the DOM after JS processed / generated the HTML. Because of this, simply using SOCKETS to get the HTML is really not an option. Even if I had the HTML, I still need some type of engine to process all of the DOM elements based off javascript.

Process.Start() Immediately Stops?

Jul 27, 2009

I'm having a strange problem with the following code, I'm writing a game launcher in VB.NET:

Dim gameProcess As Process = New Process()
gameProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = False
gameProcess.StartInfo.FileName = TextBox2.Text

[Code]....

I see the game running for a split second in the task manager, but it immediately closes! Does anyone know why? When I run the game from Windows, it works fine.

I've also tried with Shell, same problem.

And I've tried with cmd.exe and the /C argument, same problem (note that when I type cmd.exe /C path_to_game_exe in the Windows Run Dialog, the game also starts fine), it's only when I launch it from the VB.NET app that it gives problems.

Waiting For A Shelled Process To Finish Before Continuing With Application?

Mar 7, 2011

I'm currently making a Computer Cleaner, my program launch's rundll32.exe's to clean IE's history.

Like to clear the add-on settings I would put:

Shell("RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 4351")

But I need to wait for it to wait before letting it to go on to the next thing like clear cookies, which would be: Shell("RunDll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 2")

.net - Closing Main Form Doesn't Finish Process In Windows 7?

Feb 23, 2011

I have an MDI form as the app start object.I don't think is related, but in the Form closing event, I check for some condition, and if it's true, I ask for confirmation before closing:

Private Sub FormBackground_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing
If (e.CloseReason = CloseReason.UserClosing) Then[code].....

So long, everything works fine in my development machine, which runs windows XP.However, when deploying the application in a windows 7 machine, the message box works correctly, showing itself whenever it should, but after the form is closed the application keeps running in the background. This happens whether the form closes directly or asks the user first.I have fixed it putting an End instruction in the FormBackground.FormClosed event, but it doesn't feel good.

VS 2005 Windows Services - Process Is Listed As A SYSTEM Process Rather Than A Process Under User Name

Jun 4, 2009

I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).

Disable Ctrl+Alt+Del?

Jun 6, 2011

I'm making a system where only the supervisors can use the Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the menu (Vista / Windows 7) or start taskmanager (XP)Since my application will not be running on anything less than XP I don't need to worry about 95, 98, ME, 2000, etc. I have this code so far (found on here and a little edit by me) but the Ctrl + Alt + Del doesn't get stopped like I thought it would.

Note to use this from within Visual Studio you might have to untick the box for "Enable the Visual Studio hosting proccess". In VS 2010 it is found in Solution Explorer > My Project > Debug > Enable Debugers > Enable the Visual Studio hosting proccess I've found several ways to stop taskmanager loading but not to stop the menu being displayed. This code is working except for my little problem with the Ctrl Alt Del menu and has been tested by me with VS 2010 .NET4 on Windows 7

Form1.vb
Public Class Form1
Private Sub Form1_HandleCreated(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As

Disable Word Add-ins

Jul 28, 2010

I have a VB.net program that is developing a Word Document with a table of contents based on values in a SQL database. This works just fine. The issue I am running into is that I do not have control of the Office/Word environment. Some users have add-ins installed in their instance of MS Word. An example would be a PDF writer. Another example is a tool to put the document in a Document Management system. I am finding that some of these add-ins are slow to start and others do not shut down well. What I'd like to do is instantiate my MS Word application without running any installed add-ins.
