Dec 28, 2011I have an application with a splash screen which gets shown before the application starts. One of the requirements of the application is to allow users to restart (or atleast clear the form) so that other test cases can be ran. Because there are so many forms and variables, we elected to simply call Application.Restart() to accomplish this.
What we would like to do now is disable the Splash Screen when Application.Restart() is called. That is, only show the Splash Screen when the application is initially started, not when it is restarted.

Oct 21, 2008I have a problem detecting whether one of the arrow keys is pressed, all the other keys seem to be detected apart from the arrow keys??? I have set key preview to True........ It detects the arrrow keys BUT ONLY if I have NO other controls on the form??? example..

It works, but then if I add a button for example, it stops.

Application Activated But Doesn't Send Keys?
May 4, 2009I'm trying to make a easy hot key cheat system for a game. I have a timer that checks to see if the game is activated if not then it says game not running in a label box. If so then it says it's running. It detects it running so that's good. I want it to check to see if the numberic key was pressed like 1 and it will type in the cheat code. here's the source.

Send Keys To External Application While Minimized
Feb 28, 2012currently my VB Skills aren't so good so bare with me here. application to be able to send keystrokes to another without having it popup. Like it should remain minimized, it shouldn't interfere with whatever you are doing on your PC while it sends the strokes. I received this request from some one else to do. So basically I just need to get focus to the application while it remains minimized and send keystrokes.

Aug 5, 2010In my main application Form I have a number of menu and toolbar button functions to which I have assigned shortcut keys such as F10, F11 and F12. The shortcuts work well except for instances where certain controls have focus, such as a 3rd-party grid control. In that case the F11 or other shortcuts are handled by that control and swallowed... they never make it to my event handler of the main UI.
I don't really want to, and can't with the 3rd party controls, modify each control (there are dozens) to pass on my F* keys. I thought of hooking the app's message pump but that seems like a severe solution. Is there a better, cleverer way to handle this situation?
(This is a .NET WinForms MDI (2.0) application which hosts many kinds of home-spun as well as 3rd party components.)

May 23, 2010So I found this little morpg. The game is fun but really repetitive. I would like to simplify some of the tasks in the game. I do not know how to start this project. How can I recored arrow keys and then tell the computer to enter the arrow keys? One of the objectives in the game is to run around a farm 2x and scare away any wolfs. So the commands would be "arrow key up" for 30sec and then "arrow key right" for 4 sec and repeat. I have worked with robots in real life for some time. We would fill arrays with such instructions. One of the most fun things to program! But I have no idea how to do this in VB.

Instead they seem to be assigned to tab order (move focus to previous/next control) and the KeyDown event never gets called.
