The application was written in Visual Studio 2010 VB, Win form app.
The requirements are as follows:
1.) run the application at start up
2.) no icon
3.) always in focas
4.) always runs in the background.

im tryin to make a application that could disable 2 services when when i run the application. so it would change it from say running automatically to disable. i have a lot of computers i have to administer, and i dont feel like goin one by one doing. Nd ima need radio buttons because a few machines are w7 and others r xp nd they each got diffrent services that have to be disabled.

I have achieve disabling by "Overriding ReadOnly Property CreateParams()" of the form. This is working fine as both control button on form and close option on right click in the taskbar shows disabled. This fulfill my needs on the Windows XP OS but not on Windows 7 OS. As in Windows 7 right click on application icon in taskbar shows a different menu, which has a new "Close window" option.
The close in original menu still shows disabled (this old menu is hidden but can be shown by holding Shift key and right click on the application icon in taskbar). Now I need to disable this "Close window" option as well and only for my application.
Is there a method through which I can do this programmatically.

I am having a windows application. That downloads files from server and write into the local directory. It works fine. When we try the same appliication in Windows 7. IT shows an error Access to the path denied (While writing to the local directory).

I guess this is a reference issue, but I have added references to WMP libraries (axinterop.wmplib.dll and interop.wmplib.dll). The WMP works on the XP machine, but not when called from my application.I have searched the web now for 5 days and changed references, and reinstalled the media player on the XP machine, but nothing works.
I have seen this happen before but am not sure how I resolved it in the past. On runtime the controls of my form change from the windows 7/vista format to an older version format as shown in the attached image.

View 2 RepliesI have a VB.Net project that I am running from a local server and I need to use the credentials the user is currently logged in with to upload a file to a folder I create on a SharePoint site on the same domain. I can get it to upload if I specify the credentials but it will not work with system.net.credentialcache.defaultcredentials. It just gives me 3 empty strings and I get a 401 unauthorized error. I have seen a few threads that say you cannot use it with Windows Forms Applications. Is this true? Here is my code:

View 10 RepliesI have come across to develop an application for Windows 7.My program has one setting file and one LogFiles folder under the same folder as EXE. User will change some setting from Program and the values will update in this file. If there is an error, error detail will log in Logfiles/ todaydate.txt file.(Later I discovered/learnt that I should not edit/write the files to Program Files/sub folders.)So, now I'm trying to move these two files to another location. After searching a few on Net and I got the following result.[code]When I make Setup project for my application, I have to put the Setting file under one of these location.And what I found was, I only has a choice of "User's Application Data Folder" which is equivalent to My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.CurrentUserApplicationData.If i put Setting.ini file under this folder in Setup project, it gave me an warning of "File 'Setting.ini' should not be installed into a User's Profile folder because it may not be available to all users."
