I want to retrieve a data from my mysql database into my textbox, my problem is how can i show the previous and next data in a column? because it only shows the last data entry.

tblAccounts includes multiple columns, including a text field for 'AccountName'...this name can be in one of two columns.I'm trying have a user enter any part of an AccountName in txtSearch, click cmdSearch, and return all matches in tblAccounts to GridView1.

That code works to read the entry data and to recognise the correct data, and the incorrect. However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)
Back on my form with a ton of financial data entry textboxes but I want to have the data formatted at runtime, as I enter the data.I have a format declared as Public Const cFmtCurrency = "##,###,###" ' don't need decimal for the local China currency What would be the least compicated way to have these textboxes (19 of them) format the Long Integer values as I enter the data. I think a Lost Focus event would be silly; there must be a better, more efficient way.Also want to use this format when I retreive records from the db (don't see a reason to mask data in db)
View 7 RepliesWhen the user clicks to start a ticket I want to be able to display an autonumber from mysql that corresponds with the current ticket being filled out, so that the user can track their ticket later on. I have everything set up but I'm not too sure how I can display the Ticket ID in a textbox.
Right now I have it so that the query is being ran to get the next Ticket Id number when the form loads, but I'm not sure how to display it as text in the textbox.

I have a problem in inserting database entry, suppose I have two paragraph entered in one richtextbox what I want is that When I hit save, every paragraph will be save as one database entry therefore my database will have two records..This uses VB.net 2010.

I can change the PasswordChar property to an asterisk no problem and even copying and pasting symbols inserted into Word seemed to work - just couldn't find a symbol that looked like a bullet point!
Can this actually be achieved for a standalone exe, or is it something unique to web forms? Surely copying and pasting symbols from Word isn't actually the answer?

I'm creating a project for my brother's thesis for his VB subject.Now, the thing is, I'm trying to display row data from database to the (already binded) textboxes in form1. As you may know, this procedure requires that the program:
1. Declares an sqldatareader, sqlcommand, and an sqlconnection.
2. open the sqlconnection.
3. ....and use the sqldatareader to fetch the data from the source file.
The database file is made using sql server compact 3.5 and is located on same pc as where I'm making the program.The problem is, I'm getting stumped in trying to connect to the sql server. I'm getting a 26 error "error locating server/instance specified". installing sql server 2008 management studio to allow remote connections (which was already allowed in the 1st place), enabling TCP/named pipes protocol in the config manager, and enabling sql server browser service. I dont have spi firewall on since my isp has its own firewall on and xp fwall is off too. What I'm not sure about is my connection string as it might have been impeding me to connnect to server. How do I form out the correct connect string?

I more interested in using Excel, because for later analysis i would came out with graph using excel rather than using access. Since, i been develop a GUI Program for Battery Cyclic Test. I am new to VB2008 Express, I have been trying to get data from the Serial port, i have tried for days to get it working. I have read lots of articles but most seem to be for Console applications and I am using an Application. I used 'Choose Data Source' wizard to display data from Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and into the datagridview. In my windows form, I have a datagridview with the columns - Email , CustomerNam e and Select. I also have a Add Contact button.
I have 2 questions which is:-
1) How do I insert checkboxes in the Select column
2) Upon inserting checkboxes in the Select column how do I display the rows, that I have selected using checkboxes in the Select column, to display into the textbox in another windows form?
I'm not sure how to do it, I keep on getting the wrong output.My required solution is to click a name from the combo box and display bits of information.How would I loop it so if one entry is smaller than the previous, it doesn't affect it?
