In my database table I have a varbinary field that holds PDF documents. I would like to have an aspx page where I can build in a frame or content placeholder where the content of the PDF is embedded in the page.
I need to target an MS SQL compatible MDF file for database entry, but I need a database engine that can be embedded in an application - don't want to run MS SQL Server on every machine where the application is installed.I've been through a lot of documentation without any luck.
So I'm new to Ajax. I have an ASP.NET wizard panel wrapped in an ASP Ajax UpdatePanel. The Ajax is working well, with the page doing partial updates as you step through the wizard. I'm even firing an animated gif images using the unblockUI.js jQuery library to prevent multiple page submits.
I am using a Webbrowser control to access the elements in an HTML page which contains a JavaScript link which when clicked, adds extra content to the page. This works fine in IE 7 and Firefox.I then want to access this extra content in my program. Having found the HTML element containing the link, I tried element.InvokeMember("click"). I have used this successfully with a submit-type link to login to the web site, but cannot get it to work with the JavaScript link. I also tried setting the focus to the link element and using SendKeys to send the ENTER key, but all to no avail. Nothing seems to happen. I don't see the extra content produced by the JavaScript, nor do I get an error. Here is an extract from the HTML, showing the relevant (I hope) code:
I know how to open local .msg files in webbrowser in html format. The problem is when the .msg has embedded pictures, the only thing that appears is a blank space ("picture not found") where it is supposed to be.If I open the .msg file in Outlook, I see the images correctly, but in my program I can't see embedded pictures.
i just want to know, what is much better to do for data access? include the database to my solution (tools>connect to database), or just hardcode everything?
I am about to develop an application in vb.net 2010, until now I used to connect to database server to manage my data . Now i need to develope an .exe which could run in any pc, so I need somehow to store the data in a local database which is embedded to my application, I see .NET has a local database. My question is a right choice to use a local database for these kind of solutions?
I am trying to have letter templates (word documents) that are stored in sql server VarBinary(max) to be accessed via a web application where they will be edited and saved back to sql server by directors of our company. Then various managers will be able to select an existing template (word document), make any additions, and mail merge with a list of customers to print or save the letters.
I am looking to open up word within a web page much like you would an email in outlook, edit it with spell check and the like, and then save it back in sql server. I am able to get word to open from a file but it is outside of the web application in a separate word document. I am storing the word document in sql server but am unable to open it in word without having to save it to a disk (why should you have to go to a disk for viewing or editing?). I am able to programmatically mail merge but that is in a separate word application.
I am finding bits and pieces on the web but nothing that will pull things together such as embedding word but in a windows app not a web app. Mail merge from a file not from a database, converting a byte array to word in a directory but not on a web page.
I am developing a winforms application that will have an offline mode, so that it can access the data if an internet connection (or more accurately, a connection to my WCF service) cannot be established. I have decided to utilize SQL Server Compact edition on the client side of the application & was wondering what the general consensus is on the "best" practice for making the client application (Sql Server Compact) subscribe to the master database (MSSQL 2008).
Management enters information into a web based administration panel that I developed and is stored in a MSSQL 2008 database. After adding / modifying information, they can click a release "datapack" button which will increment a "datapack" version number, which will later be used by the client application to determine if they are in sync or not. When the client application is started, it connects to the internet and determines if the version numbers are in sync. If not, it pulls the information from the server.
That third step is where I'm a bit lost I thought about simply developing a web service that will expose a dataset containing all of the data and just iterating through it doing inserts, but that seems terribly inefficient to me. The full database probably wouldn't amount to much more than 5 MB total, so that led me to think it would be great if when management clicks the release datapack button, it would store the database in a file that could simply be downloaded and would replace the embedded database. Again, I'm a little lost on how that would work. This is my first time working with an embedded database, most of my work has been web/win apps that have real-time access to the data.
I'm using visual studio 2005 to develop a form with a combobox passing a value into the parameter of an embedded crystal report. Why it keeps prompting me for a database login every single time you try to run the report with a different combobox selection.
Here is my code: private Sub Form1_load... Dim ConnName As String Dim ServerName As String Dim DBName As String Dim user As String Dim pass As String [Code] ..... I looked at this previous posting [URL]. I couldn't find where a CMC was to disable the prompt.
can anyone please explain to me how I get the file path to an embedded video resource file I have?Currently I know how to get this while debugging, but I am unsure how to refer to it when built. It needs to work no matter where the application files are.[code]
I am creating a notes software. This is just a simple application that will show the data from the database which are Notes_Title, Due_Date, Priority. I display the data with datagridview. I also added a checkbox for each row to the datagridview to mark as check if the Notes_title is already done. In displaying the data, I need to display only a 5 data in a row.So, I create a another CLASS that will only show 5 rows per page. But the PROBLEM is, if I mark the checkbox as check in the first page then if I turn it to the next page the checkbox in the first page that mark as check will be uncheck if I turn it back to the first page. The mark check in the checkbox will mark as uncheck if I turn the page. How can I make it mark as check even if I turn the pages? And How can I save the data row as done if I check
I have an executable file with source code (in C)that i would like to embed into my VB app to make it looks like as if it's one file. My question is since, i have the source code to the executable file is there anything i can create based on the source code like "module",dll, class or something that i can import into my vb app ?
I am embedding an xsd file into my console program so I can use it to parse XML files into a datatable which I then will parse and process into a text file and into a database. I have embedded the file and can access it by going to My.Resources.LinerTester. This will return a string, but in order to use it on the Dataset.ReadXmlSchema method I have to convert it to an XSD, otherwise I get an error saying invalid characters. How can I take the embedded resource and convert it to an XSD file? I know the XSD file works fine, if I read it from a location on the hard drive it will process the XML files into a dataset just fine, so the file itself is valid.
I'am trying to replace embedded picturedata in a exe file. Is ther e a way to convert my new picture to data and place it? in the exe file it looks now like this; (example)

[Code]...
Now want to use a new logo in this exe file.
replacing one picturedata with another from the same file works.... bu thow can i place a new picture as hex/ascii file into the exe file? iv'e tried VB, esourcehacker etc but i can't work it out
I'm having problems running a swf file from a url. This is my code (Very Basic)
Code: Public Class Form1 Private Sub AxShockwaveFlash1_load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles AxShockwaveFlash1.Enter Dim swfLocation As String = ("http://pinger.com/textfree/textFree_web.swf")
[code]....
As I said it's very basic at the moment. But I discovered by going to [URL] and look at the source that if I remove the flashvar tag I get the same result as i'm getting in my program. So I thought, hey I need to add flashvars to my script. I first tried it in the property window but that didn't work. The field stayed blank when I clicked away. Then i tried it by using code to set the flash var, still no luck. The goal is to embed this service into a program i'm developing so clients can send and, most importantly, receive text messages with a valid phone number.
I have a todo-list application that will show all data from the database MySQL. These are tasks in Todo-List Application that must be display in a datagrid. But the tasks must display page by page. Datagrid must display the first 5 element or the first 5 rows when the datagrid is shown. The remaining rows will be display if a user click the nextpage button or uses a hotkey for viewing the next 5 rows.
In Visual Studio 2008 I tried to add xml file as embedded resource. During compilation the embedded resource item was simply ignored and the resource I expected to find in resulting dll was not there. I tried several times with no positive effect. Finally I decided to rename the file, so it does not have xml extension. As soon as I changed the extension to (it was .en in this case) Visual Studio started picking the file up and embedding it as part of the assembly. I could not find any any documentation on that odd behavior. Does anyone know if that is expected, and, if so, why ?
I use Vb.NET from VS 2010 I use a SQL File to run a script, when changes to the database should be done. This works fine for me. The SQL File is in my project and marked as embedded file. Now I run into an issue. I have to change the user name, when updating a Trigger or SP (for complete information: I use mySQL and 3rd Party Script component)So, I thought, I write the embedded file into a Temp-File, make the changes to the file, run the temp file through the script component and then delete the file.
I embedded a file as a resource into my assembly, and use the following:
Dim NameSpc As String = Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().Name.ToString() Dim FileName As String = NameSpc + "." + Form1.LanguageSelection.Text + ".txt" Dim address As System.IO.Stream = _ Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetManifestResourceStream(FileName)
i would like to ask that is there anyway to embedded an excel file into a vb.net project? i know the way to read an excel file from vb.net, but i would wanna know is there anyway i can include the excel file inside the vb.net program. This means i dun need another excel file beside the exe file.
I have a bit of a problem. I'm new to using SQL Server Express in applications, and I'm a bit confused at how it all works.I have embedded an MDF file into my application. It works fine in development, but my application cannot find the database once installed on another machine.Where does the MDF file end up once installed? I was looking in the current directory of the exe file using the following connection string:
Im trying to access a embedded file in my app and have it load in a picturebox on a button_click. Ive been reading about Resource files and so far only been able to get this far. This is where im up too:
I seem to be having some trouble finding anything to help me iterate through objects in an embedded resource file. What I have got, is a bunch of resource files that each have a library of sound wav files. What I'm trying to do is cycle through them all and add their name to something like a list box.I found a couple of snippets online that do this but for external resources. Here is what they do.
' Create a ResXResourceReader for the file items.resx. Dim rsxr As ResXResourceReader rsxr = New ResXResourceReader("Samples\Kicks.resx")
[code]....
1. It still needs a phisical file in the debug folder (I have them in a folder called samples within the debug folder.)
2. It gives me this error.QuoteResX file Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\sed10711\Desktop\Sequencer Interface\Sequencer Mock Interface\bin\resources\kicks\kickdrum1.wav'. Line 123, position 5. cannot be parsed.
I have a problem with VB 2010. In my project, I have 2 embedded resources that I want to save to disk. Both are of type System.Drawing.Icon (*.ico file).I tried searching all over Google, and found no threads that helped me out.Either I need to figure out: How to convert a System.Drawing.Icon to a 1-dimensional array of Byte()How to use a System.IO.Stream to save the icon using My.Resources.<resourcename>.Save(outputStream as System.IO.Stream)Any other method that may work
