Display An Image In PictureBox Using String Variable?
Jul 4, 2009
I'm real new to VB and thought I'd try something "simple". I have a form with a button, two pictureboxes and textboxes. When the button is clicked, I am generating two random numbers (1-6) and then want to select a corresponding picure of a dice from the Resource folder (named Dice1-6.jpg) for each of the pictureboxes. The textboxes display the numeric version of the "dice" rolls.[code]...
I'm sure there are similar threads, but I've search and tried most things and still can't find something that works.
I am testing a small project, in the attempt to find the solution for a much bigger application. So, here's the deal. I'm using VB 2005 and MSSQL 2005 (both are Express editions). I've stored the names to some images in the database.
When I use PictureBox1.image = My.Resources.<filename>
and build the application, it works and properly displays the image. Now, what I'm really trying to do is extract an image names from the database and assign it to a variable, this is what I have.
Dim EqTest As New Test1DataSet.EqTestDataTable Dim EqTestAdapter As New Test1DataSetTableAdapters.EqTestTableAdapter EqTestAdapter.Fill(EqTest)
[Code]....
I've used the messagebox for testing so that I can see what the value of "Trythis" is, and the string is "My.Resources.<filename>", which is the correct string, but I can't use that string in the picturebox to display the image, because I get an error "Value of Type String can not be converted to System.Drawing.Image".
I have a picture box on my form. I can load images which I read from a database into the box.
The problem is that the images are all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Some are square. Some are portrait. Some are landscape.
How do I configure the imagebox so that the pictures are reduced to fit, and keep their proportions. As I've got it at the moment, the rectangular ones are distorted into a square, which makes some of them look pretty strange.
On my form i have a picture box that i want to put a random image in. im my code i have a random number generator. the number generated will correspond to a picture in my.resources. i.e if it generates 1 there will be a file called 1.jpg. what i need to know is how to tell the picturebox to display the image that corresponds to the generated number? i tried:
dim pic as string = random picAnimal.BackgroundImage = My.Resorces.("& Pic &")
this does not work, it says identifier expected (between the . and the vairable), can anyone point me in the right direction?
I am trying to have my application display an image in the picturebox named picResult based on whether or not a person gets the answer to a math problem right. How to load a smiley face image (happy.png) or a sad face (sad.png) into the picResult picturebox when the question is answered right or wrong? Here is my code that check the answer:
Code 'btnSubmit instructions Private Sub btnSubmit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnSubmit.Click 'Error message displayed if textbox is left blank If txtAnswer.Text = "" Then [Code] .....
Code: Private Sub cmdNext_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdNext.Click Dim strURL As String
[Code]....
Am I doing this correctly so far? I need to "collect" the address/URL of the picture that is currently displayed in the picturebox (pbxFile), then load the next picture in the folder into the picturebox.
Fetch the image in mysql database and display it in the picturebox.i have a fieldtype mediumblob on my database.i cant move on with the application i develop.
i know how to display an image in a picturebox by drag drop. but cant find anything on the net about dropping an image to a textbox then having the textbox display its location
reolved if any one else searches for it. Dim Files() As String = CType(e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop), String()) Dim fileDetail As New System.IO.FileInfo(Files(0)) txtFilePath.Text = fileDetail.FullName
I'm using VB 2008 express to create a windows form application. I have a combobox named cb_face. The items in the combobox are image file names populated from my resource folder using a "for each" loop. When an item is selected I would like to display the image in picturebox1. I have tried several different codes but none of them display the image. I am not getting any errors. The comment lines show some of the code that has been tried.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim ImgFolder As New IO.DirectoryInfo("C:Documents and SettingsubdMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsBlank OutBlank OutResources") Dim ImgFile As IO.FileInfo() = ImgFolder.GetFiles("*.bmp") Dim info As IO.FileInfo For Each info In ImgFile [Code] .....
When adding an image to my form i can see it in the editing mode but after execution no not all images some ones display and others no it is really weird even if they have the same type png or jpg
I have 52 listview items in my listview1 and I have a picturebox basically I want it where I can click on a single item in the listview and display an image from a url in the picturebox. I basically have it right now that when you click on any item in the listview it just shows the same image in the picturebox no matter which item it is. I need to figure out how to do it separately for each item.
I am writing a VB 2008 Express Edition application which has multiple forms. All of the forms contain one or more PictureBox controls. All PictureBox controls have assigned bitmaps via Image property during development mode. So far, all the bitmaps displayed during runtime without a slightest problem. Now, suddenly, not a single new one (i.e. which I add from this moment on) would display bitmap during runtime. All the old ones (i.e. those which I have added up to that unspecified point in time when something went wrong) still display bitmaps fine as they did before. But any newly added PictureBox (or, come to that, any other control which can display bitmap.
I have tried also Label control) displays the bitmap loaded via Image property only during development mode. During runtime the PictureBox shows as empty. I tried to load the bitmap during runtime via command Image.FromFile and that works fine (but I don't want to use this approach in my program). If I create a completely new application, all PictureBox controls display the bitmaps just fine. I don't get any errors or warnings in VB editor. I reinstalled the whole VB 2008 Express Edition including SP1 and .NET 3.5 SP1 with no difference whatsoever (as would be expected as any new application works with PictureBox controls fine).
I have a picture box which reads in an image from a folder to display, instead of having the usual boring image I thought it may be nice to have a number of images in the folder and let my vb.net program randomly pick one out to use.
Is there a way to tell the DISPLAY size of an image in a picture box? If the PictureBox.SizeMode=Zoom, the picture sometimes is not displayed as big as the picture box is, and is sometimes displayed smaller, or larger, than the actual image is. I just want to know what size it is actually displaying as.
I'm new to VB.NET BTW. I designed a form and radio buttons and a submit button with a picture box ! Every radio button selected will display the image related to it in the picture box !
So, we have O smile O sad O mad O happy O ...etc When pressing the submit, the selected radio button will display a face of the mood !
Here is my code. If RadBtnSmile.Checked Then PicBxMood.load("smile.gif") End If If RadBtnSad.Checked Then PicBxMood.load("sad.gif") [Code] .....
My program involves selecting up to 2 images and having them displayed on another page. I'm currently using global variables to pass the image name (for example apple) to the 'results' page with the following [code]...
What I have done is named a bunch of picture boxes "Q," "W," "E," etc. (the whole alphabet) and named picture that correspond to these picture boxes ("Q.png," "W.png," and so on) and added them to my resources.
For example, the following code would give the picture box named "Q" it's corresponding image "Q.png":
vb Q.BackgroundImage = My.Resources.Q
Of course, it's kind of a pain in the backside to copy and paste this code and change all the Q's to W's and so on, so I was hoping to create a function to do the job for me:
vb Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'So that I can run the letter as a string through the function,
[Code].....
Hopefully I've provided enough detail so that it is obvious what I'm trying to do.
Obviously, the code I tried above (the second block) doesn't work - it gives a syntax error. I need to change/write to make this function functional.
I want to display a string (stored in a variable) in notepad(or any other default text editor depending upon the system). Saving to a text file is not necessary. I just want to open Notepad with an unsaved file containing the text. Please help
I have a string which consists of the raw HTML of a webpage. I would like to search for the first use of /imgres?imgurl= within the string and display the url of an image which follows exactly after it in a text box. Below is an example of part of the string: [URL]..In this case it would find /imgres?imgurl= then it would display [URL]...
I drew an image in a picturebox with the image height as picturebox height and image width as picturebox width. The image is placed somewhere on the center of the picturebox. My intention is to scale the image to fit to the picturebox.
I have a program I'm working on that, for one of the features, allows the user to drag an image from a picturebox, into the main form space, anywhere they want. [code]...
When trying to drag the image from the CurrentTilePicBox, the very moment I move the mouse while dragging the cursor becomes a circle with a cross and won't drag and drop into the new picturebox.
I'm looking for a way to search a string variable for two words and copy the text in between them into another variable. This needs to be done as many times as the match occurs.
I have nine pictures that I need to animate -I need to use the ToString method and a counter to concatenate a file name into a string variable from the Image.FromFile method. Once the counter reaches its maximum value, and the last picture is displayed, the counter should be reset to zero or one depending on how the first image file has been name. Also a static counter variable should be incremented in the time routine. what I have so far -- I know what I have to do; however, I just do not know how to code this properly.. Right now I have this going thru a button procedure but it needs to go through a timer.
I have a Picturebox and a two Buttons on my Form. On click of one of the buttons I want to change the image in the picture box at runtime.
This works fine when I give the location of the image (the full path ) on my computer - but then of course it will not work if I use the solution on a different computer .
So I have made a folder named "Pics" inside my application and added two images into it.
How do I get to this local folder in the following code?
Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile (??? ) instead of the usual, Picturebox1.image = system.drawing.image.fromfile ("C:UsersMyName My PicturesMyPicture.jpg" )
I'm trying to update pictures boxes with images of controls stored in an imagelist owned by a control. The images stored in the control.imagelist do not showup in the picturebox.
