Cannot Display An Image From Datagridview To Picturebox?

Display Image In A Picturebox?
Apr 13, 2011I have a picture box on my form. I can load images which I read from a database into the box.
The problem is that the images are all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Some are square. Some are portrait. Some are landscape.
How do I configure the imagebox so that the pictures are reduced to fit, and keep their proportions. As I've got it at the moment, the rectangular ones are distorted into a square, which makes some of them look pretty strange.

Jan 19, 2009On my form i have a picture box that i want to put a random image in. im my code i have a random number generator. the number generated will correspond to a picture in my.resources. i.e if it generates 1 there will be a file called 1.jpg. what i need to know is how to tell the picturebox to display the image that corresponds to the generated number? i tried:

picAnimal.BackgroundImage = My.Resorces.("& Pic &")
this does not work, it says identifier expected (between the . and the vairable), can anyone point me in the right direction?
Application To Display Image In PictureBox
Mar 31, 2010I am trying to have my application display an image in the picturebox named picResult based on whether or not a person gets the answer to a math problem right. How to load a smiley face image (happy.png) or a sad face (sad.png) into the picResult picturebox when the question is answered right or wrong? Here is my code that check the answer:

The items in the combobox are image file names populated from my resource folder using a "for each" loop. When an item is selected I would like to display the image in picturebox1. Mar 30, 2010I am writing a VB 2008 Express Edition application which has multiple forms. All of the forms contain one or more PictureBox controls. All PictureBox controls have assigned bitmaps via Image property during development mode. So far, all the bitmaps displayed during runtime without a slightest problem. Now, suddenly, not a single new one (i.e. which I add from this moment on) would display bitmap during runtime. All the old ones (i.e. those which I have added up to that unspecified point in time when something went wrong) still display bitmaps fine as they did before. But any newly added PictureBox (or, come to that, any other control which can display bitmap.
I have tried also Label control) displays the bitmap loaded via Image property only during development mode. During runtime the PictureBox shows as empty. I tried to load the bitmap during runtime via command Image.FromFile and that works fine (but I don't want to use this approach in my program). If I create a completely new application, all PictureBox controls display the bitmaps just fine. I don't get any errors or warnings in VB editor. I reinstalled the whole VB 2008 Express Edition including SP1 and .NET 3.5 SP1 with no difference whatsoever (as would be expected as any new application works with PictureBox controls fine).

Jul 28, 2009At runtime, I am adding a DataGridView to a windows form. The final column is a DataGridViewImageColumn:

Adding the following code will get my Information Icon (bitmap) to display in each of the column cells but NOT the column header:

Also, it is worth noting that the image displays 'perfectly' in the cells i.e. it is sized correctly to fit the cell.
However, I cannot find a way to add the same image to the column header cell. After some googling I used the following code which placed the image in the header cell but left me with two problems:
The image did not 'auto-size' to the column headercell in the same way it did when added to the column cells. The image was slightly larger and blurred.
By using the _CellPainting event slowed down performance i.e. when hovering over the DataGridView to highlight the selected row the highlighting lagged behind where my mouse was placed.

What I'm trying to do is parse out the image URL, download the image and put the smiley in the correct spot between the text of the message.I can do the parsing and downloading of the image into the datagridview but this only works of the column is set as an image column. I'm displaying the data from the database via DataGridView with LINQ. In order to display the DGV I have this code:

I was thinking to add another column named "Symbol" and based on the "Status" column to format the cells of the "Symbol" column to display an image.
I edited the DGV, and add a new image column.
I created a directory in my solution called "references" where I put all the .bmp files
I don't know how to do this. My first thought was to put an expression in the DataTable Properties, but I didn't manage to make that work. Another way is to format the cells in the "Symbol" column, and again I don't know how to do that. I tried with "Select Case ... Case ... End Select" with no success.
LE: Should I Insert the .bmp files into SQL database (varbinary(MAX)) If yes, how?
