Displaying Text To Center Of Screen
Feb 18, 2010
I know i've made a few posts previously on this, but none have fully worked. I now have my program doing everything I need it to do, except having the ability to display the text to the centre of the screen. It needs to be able to perform the same functionality it does on the form but without the form being there (e.g. the letter disappearing after being pressed)

Now I'm creating at app in VB (Microsoft's, Visual Basic 2010) which will be in full screen but I want to know if I can put all my content in the centre of the screen. At the moment it's at the far top, left of the screen. When the screen size varies I want it will stay in the middle for all shapes and sizes. Like :
<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 500px;"></div>
But this is for web pages using HTML and CSS.

I have been searching the internet for a few days now, looking for ways to solve my problem, but I can't find anything. What I am trying to do is make my sprite walk. The way I did this was I made multiple GIF's with my characters different movements, but when I try to switch which ones are showing by releasing an arrow key, it does not do anything. Does anyone have a solution for this? My code so far is below, but it only lets me switch to the running GIF and not to the standing one.

I thought of something quite cool i would like to try. Would it be possible to revert the mouse and the screen, so when you mouse your mouse up, the arrow stays still but the desktop moves towards it.

I just converted from Visual Basic 2008 to Visual Basic 2010.The application that I'm working on has several forms that change size depending on the situation and I want them to appear in the center of the screen.
This code:
Me.Height = 161
Me.StartPosition = FormStartPosition.CenterScreen
worked perfectly in VB 2008 and doesn't in VB 2010

Is there any way I can move a form in the center of the screen ? I am talking about run time for a form that is already shown . I need this because some times this form may become larger or smaller during run time and I'd like it to be moved in the center of the screen in order to look better . Back in VB6 I used to show again the form (despite being already shown) by MyForm.Show , which resulted i the form being moved to the center , but now it seems this doesn't work anymore ...

I am writing a program to control light and sound for a show I'm working on.
The program has buttons and stuff controlling music and sound effects but I am at a loss as to how to get the video part to work.
My computer is hooked up to a projector in extended desktop mode. (I can't change that, otherwise my control panel would show up on the big screen.
I need the video to display on Screen 2 (the projector), so I made a form and used this code:
Dim screen As Screen
screen = screen.AllScreens(1) 'the array is 0 based
Form2.StartPosition = FormStartPosition.Manual
Form2.Location = screen.Bounds.Location + New Point(0, 0)
Form2.ShowDialog()
to display it when I press a button. This worked fine, I set form2's border to none and fullscreened it, tested again, no probs. My problem arose when I tried to add a WMP ActiveX control. I ran the program, pressed the button, and... form2 (along with WMP) appeared on my laptop display. I desperately need this by tomorrow. If no solution is available, is there an alternative to WMP?

I would like to display 2 forms side by side. Frm1 will call Frm2. The problem is, if Frm1 is too near the edge of the computer screen, when Fr2 is shown, part of it will be outside the screen. How do I make it so that if Frm1 is near the right-side of the screen then Frm2 will show on the left-side of Frm1 and vise-versa?

I have a variable which I called ElapsedTime. I press a button and it displays the time in seconds since clicking the button, into a label . I did it with HTML
Private Sub Timer2_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer2.Tick
LblElapsedTime1.Text = ElapsedTime
ElapsedTime = ElapsedTime + 1
End Sub
Private Sub BtnStart_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnStart.Click
Timer2.Enabled = True
End Sub
This updates every second a bit like a simple stop watch. Great so far, because I do need the elapsed time (in seconds) for later use in my app. However, whilst elapsed time is being displayed in this label on the screen I want it to be shown in HH:MM:SS format. How can I convert it into a new variable " ElapsedTime2 " so that I can show it in the desired format yet still retain my original " ElapsedTime " variable for later.

I am having problems trying to center some text. I created a printdocument and it has a company name and title and then other information I have the information fine but I wanted to center the company name [code]I know I have to get the width of the page then divide it by two and after that find out how long my text is then subtract that so it still prints center screen. Pretty much right now it prints out and runs off the right side of the page.But what I would like it to do is print in the Center but have equal margins on the sides of the page still.Just like clicking Center allignment on a word doc.

I have a BackgroundWorker and using a delegate to update an UI on a different thread. Everything is working except the "lblInfo.Left = (Me.Width / 3) - (lblInfo.Width / 4)".I need this line since it allows me to center the text on the UI as I have several Subroutines and they all have various lengths in text. pass the lblInfo.Left = (Me.Width / 3) - (lblInfo.Width / 4) from the delegate so I don't get a IllegalCrossThread.
Delegate Sub SetLabelTextInvoker(ByVal lblInfo As Label, ByVal Text As String)
Sub SetLabelText(ByVal lblInfo As Label, ByVal Text As String)
If lblInfo.InvokeRequired = True Then

I have a Listview and each ListviewItem has an image with a height of 90 pixels. This means that the Listview rows are also about 90 pixels high, enough room to show the subitems text word wrapped.
The only way to wordwrap text is to draw it myself, as far as I know, because the Listview has no property for that. I'm using the code below, which works fine, except I'm having some problems with centering the text vertically.
