I am looking for some help in downloading latest Zip file from a FTP location and UnZIP it by saving to a particular location using VB.NET GipStream or some other method. I prefer not to use any 3rd party controls.
Looking for log4net.dll - download will not unzip I have been to [URL].. and downloaded both files: incubating-log4net-1.2.10.zip incubating-log4net-1.2.9-beta.zip. Neither one will unzip. I have tried downloading twice and have used WinZip 12 and whatever comes with XP.
I have the following function below, which works fine if you want to Extract a zip file. But, I have a problem, lets take an example, test.zip , which will have a folder within called Download which has txt files. Therefore, when I unzip I receive the Download folder with the files in it. Now, instead I want to unzip the zip folder to create a Test folder and within the Test folder the Download folder which will have all the text files. The function I have does ONLY the Download folder and not the test folder.
Private Sub unzip(ByVal filename As String, ByVal targetdir As String, ByVal overwrite As Boolean, Optional ByVal password As String = "") Dim inputStrm As New ZipInputStream(File.OpenRead(filename)) inputStrm.Password = password Dim nextEntry As ZipEntry = inputStrm.GetNextEntry() [Code] .....
I'm willing to compare a textfile (whatever) which contains a few lines of text. After the comparison it should download and replace the "changed" folder/file. E.g.
As there are no zip/unzip functions in vb.net, has anyone figured a way to do this without using any 3rd party components?I was thinking there might be a way to call a shell32 command to gzip.dll, or some other way to use windows native unzip functions?
I have the following Sub which works perfectly fine. However, I want to add an extra function to say that delete the .zip file that has been unzipped. So when it unzips the zipped files it also deletes them. [Code]
I am trying to find out how to zip and unzip a file in Visual Basic 2010. I have looked extensively on google and youtube, but found little of use. I was able to run one block of code though:
Sub CompressFile(ByVal filetozip As String, ByVal zipfile As String) Try Dim fs As FileStream
[Code]....
but this is not what I need. I am creating a Desktop Screen Capture Program, for personal use, that takes a screen when a set timer ticks (1 min or 60000 milliseconds) and in that timer tick a call to a sub is made, CompressFile( file, compressedfilename). See the problem here? It overwrites the compressed file with the second screenshot. So I need to know how to create a Zip Archive, preferably Not using Gzipstream. I need one that i can open in Winzip or 7-zip. And before you ask, yes I tried to add a reference to the 7z.dll, and error. It does not matter whether the solution to this problem requires outside or inside visual basic, though i ask you ensure it is Virus-Free if it involves downloading.
extract a single file (WantedFile.xml) from a .ZIP file (THEBIGZipFile.zip) using native VB.NET Code?I think .NET FW 3.5 or 4.0 has "System.IO.Packaging.Package " which can be used? Not sure. Please advice.
Note: I will not be able to install or distribute any other DLLs like (ICSharp or VJ# or cant use process command to invoke winzip etc).
I need a vb source to get the web server path files and download it to the local machine. actually a web html page in that i have href tag to call the vb exe file, in vb file i have to find current server path and download some supporting files to local machine
I created a small application and an installer project for it. I can install and also run it, only thing htat i dont like is that during setup, it downloads .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and this takes long sometimes. I want to have it on the installation CD later.
I have seen in the installer's detected dependencies, that there is the 3.5 framework contained and it has a InstallURL property = [URL]..I am a little confused about all the Framework stuff on this site - so just 3 simple questions:
1) which file exactly do i have to download, 2) where to put it and 3) what to write into the property InstallURL then? (Maybe needed to change also other properties)?
I usually download file using following code:My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile("url of the file","filepath to save the file")But recently I encountered a site that only allow file download if you click it from its site and not via direct downloading from vb.net code. How to download file from http server that requires a referral before allowing the download?
i try to download multiple file + progressbar.. but its seems nothing happened and the file is not download.. my program just function like.. when the file was error.. it will download the latest file from webhost..
I was thinking to make an app to save images [or download images] to local hard disk. But to keep it easy, I want this app to create a small picturebox on form to show the thumbnail of downloaded image. Lets say a 5 pictureboxes has to be added with the thumbnails to show the recent downloads. A user can save the location where he wants to save the files on hard disk. A listbox or a dropdown menu will help in categorizing the images, like image1 in friends section, image2 in family section, image3 in others, etc... When the program restarts all the latest 5 thumbnails has to be loaded in pictureboxes and the directory that was chosen. Finally, a button that shows the downloaded images into original image file size one by one or a slide show. Is it possible to make such program?
I want to download thousands of files from the web and save them locally. What is the most efficient way? It is important the failures timeout within 10 seconds.
Is there a better way to stream one stream into another? Maybe a smaller buffer, like 1024 bytes at a time, is more efficient for large files?
Dim w_req As System.Net.HttpWebRequest = CType(System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://blah.blah.blah/blah.html"), System.Net.HttpWebRequest)
I have created a application in vb.net. I am using Web Browser control in it.With this Web Browser control I open an URL and tries to Download something, it will populates an dialog for "File Download" to Open/Save/Cancel for the file..I am downloading the .ZIP file, and it will not show the checkbox for Automatically Do.Is there any way to perform the Download operation at the backend, means it will not ask me for such options.
Reading a .txt file in VB.net. My file path is C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt.
This is my line of Dim LoanOptionsFile As String = "C:UsersMyLilMulePepeDocumentsVisual Studio 2008Projectscurtain_calls.txt"
I can read the file when I run the program, but how do I write the file path so that someone else can download my program and file and read the file on their system?
I'm making a game in Gamemaker and i'm using VS2010 to create a launcher for it. The launcher works like the Minecraft launcher:
it has to check a file from my server, then compare it to the local file, and if they aren't the same, the launcher has to re-download the game.exe from the server.
This all has to happen when i click play. To make the game start i use Process.Start(My.Computer.FileSystem.CurrentDirectory & "\game.exe") i've put the game in the solution explorer.
put 'copy to output directory' to 'copy always'. i appareantly had to do that according to a tutorial to launch game.exe. Now, as i've said, i'm quitte new to VS 2010.
I'm trying to output a resource file to a physical file on my hard drive. Here is what I have so far from researching but I think I'm doing it wrong.
Dim ms As New System.IO.MemoryStream(My.Resources.File1) Here is how I would do it in VB6, but I'm trying to catch up with the times and move on to the new stuff.
Dim c() As Byte Open Sysdir & "mswinsck.ocx" For Binary Access Write As #3 c = LoadResData(103, "Custom")
The following code allows me to browse and unzip a file, I want to be able to select a folder instead of a filename and unzip all the .zip files in that folder. How can I update the code please..
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim ofd As New OpenFileDialog
I've been working on an application that uses TCP to send messages to another computer, but I am going to be updating it alot!I know how to make my program update itself, but I just want a progress bar so you know how long it will take until the file is completely downloaded. Also does anyone know how to zip and unzip files in VB.NET, it would make my updater easier if it can just download a zip file and then unzip it and copy the contents to my applications running directory.
